We'll turn him into a defensive midfielder and Caftards will be calling for his head before his 19th birthday.
Cocks out?
It has more to do with the changing of the rules for youth recruitment especially the 90 min rule.
How old was George Best when we first started chasing him?Did Wenger start this PL trend of buying youths as young as this? I don't remember us doing it until Arsenal had some success early on.
On 9 February 1953, Bedlington Grammar School pupil Charlton was spotted playing for East Northumberland schools by Manchester United chief scout Joe Armstrong. Charlton went on to play for England schoolboys, and despite offers that followed from several other clubs, the 15-year-old signed with United on 1 January 1953,
Its a compliment to United that this kinda signing made 'big' news. I'm sure Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc made many youth signing like this down the years and probably never got this much media coverage.
All the more reason then

All the major clubs do it in every league. It makes financial and footballing sense.
There's a proposal to make a number of changes including the 90 min rule. If it does go through, it'd be next seasonApologies for my ignorance, but has the 90 minute rule gone? I just don't recall anything about it changing.

Manchester United have taken an 18-man squad to Switzerland for the Blue Stars FIFA Youth tournament.
Warren Joyce is in charge of the side as the Reds aim to lift the trophy for the 19th time in its prestigious 75-year history. The travelling party is a mix of Under-21 and Under-18 players and United are competing in the group stages against Blue Stars, Torino and FC Zurich.
The Reds defeated Blue Stars 1-0 in the opening fixture on Wednesday with Adnan Januzaj scoring the goal from a free-kick. The scoreline was repeated against Torino with Januzaj again the matchwinner when blasting home to settle a combative match against the Italian side.
A goalless draw with FC Zurich ensured three successive clean sheets and a successful first day in the competition with Januzaj going close to keeping up his goal-a-game record. Cedric Brunner fired one chance wide for the Swiss outfit but an exciting encounter finished 0-0.
Squad: Jonny Sutherland, Joel Castro Pereira; Liam Grimshaw, Nicholas Ioannou, Reece James, Donald Love, Luke McCullough, Tom Thorpe; Larnell Cole, Mats Daehli, Charni Ekangamene, Ben Pearson, Andreas Pereira, James Weir; Jack Barmby, Adnan Januzaj, Tom Lawrence, James Wilson.
He's in the squad for the Blue Stars FIFA Youth tournament along with Adnan Januzaj.
