letting pereira go would be a BIG mistake, a special talent like that, and to say he wouldn't get games at united is kind of funny, because mctominay who is decent but is nowhere near the talent pereira is, get games. we rely a lot on pogba, pereira could definitely take the burden of pogba,he is not afraid to dictate the game.

not saying he is like like pogba, but he is creative and can act as a playmaker for us

Yeah, I don’t think Pereira is going to prove to be any good. I think his future lies with a Lower Liga club like Leganes or Sociedad.

I’d be genuinely surprised if he’s here next season.

With our midfield issues this year with injuries I can't see any way we'd let him go until we've got numbers there which could prove to be the summer after next.

He's 3 years younger than Lingard. If there was a player who deserves to be persevered with, its him.

Is he still out on loan, or his he back now? I saw an article regarding shirt numbers, and he's moved to number 15, I think?

Is that just something that they can do while a player is out on loan?

He got that before joining Valencia

This kid is just so unlucky. Would be great to see him play 5 games in one position that he wants to play in and then judge him.

I would keep him and move Herrera on, he is always injured and can hardly be trusted anymore. He was once Mourinho's go to player but has since regressed drastically.

It boggles the mind that he could do such a 180 in Mourinho's assessment. I think there must be more to it. Maybe he said something inappropriate, or something Mou didn't like. Maybe he's homesick? Who knows?

How is Herrera hardly trusted anymore? The best player last year, underwhelming this unluckily displaced by Matic, just getting into form before getting injured for longer time, Pereira didn't even put half dozen senior performances as CM/CDM yeah and replace him, some shocking comments sometimes you see on redcafe, if anything Andreas could be a backup to Pogba and slowly used in a deeper role but he's nowhere near ready to be trusted than someone like Herrera

He has been regressing for while now. He has hardly played well that often this season. The point on 'senior performances' doesn't work for me. Pereira was used a CM in pre-season and played well. Yes, he is playing out of position at Valencia but I still think he could be a much better option than Herrera is at the moment.

Our midfield is considerably weak and unbalanced. Why not give Pereira a chance? I don't think United are going to sign 10 players as the papers suggest. We can try to solve our problems by promoting from within.

Another change I would make would be to off-load Chris Smalling to promote Axel Tuanzebe. I think players like Pereira, Tuanzebe & Fosu-Mensah would reinvigorate our squad, but they won't have a chance if we keep players who hardly feature or those who are simply not good enough.

I don't see a need to keep players like Smalling, Herrera, Darmian when we have better players already at the club who are younger.

We all want to give him more chances as his talent is clear. Problem is he's the one who wanted and chose to go on loan instead of waiting for chances and based on multiple injuries we got this season (we were at certain point playing with only Herrera and Matic as options), he would have got plenty of chances to play. He wanted to leave. I can't blame him, but we shouldn't be blaming ourselves either.

sorry that's quite shocking post from you. Herrera was certainly getting into form just got injured a lot and people forgot him, thinking that player who haven't played a single senior game as CM in the premier league can do better there, you are totally deluded. Pereira is nowhere near with defensive awarness, neither his passing is consistent enough to play deeper in midfield in the role Herrera played, maybe in the future, but that's a big question.

Yeah and you topped it with saying Smalling should be replaced with Tuanzebe who himself played there maybe a game in 5 men defense once in his life in a senior game in the premier league and plays as a RB for Villa. Smalling is easily our best CB in the squad this year and yes he has limitations when it comes to passing but he's by far the best in the air in the squad, reads the game well and by doing so can win the ball and start counters well, rarely makes mistakes. But fans like you will get back on him whenever he makes a minor mistake. He's often one man defense with Lindelof. And has Bailly potential to be a better defender in the future, yes but he's not there yet, if anything Smalling will be a great rotational CB.

Yes I am willing to give chance to youth but we are not playing middle of the table like Everton, we need to produce week in week out, you cannot put all youngsters as they are not at the level just yet... the same with TFM, people praise him but he's not even better than Valencia in not a single attacking aspect. I can see games can be frustrating and it's easy to criticise some players playing in this shit system under Mourinho and it's easy to find a youtuoube highlight compilation of other players who you not see 95 minutes every game with all the mistakes they make rather than all good happened to the other player.

Man, this is not FIFA! My suggestion with the afformentoned youngsters is: Tuanzebe - next year to get cup games appearaces as CB, palying as RB to fight with TFM and Valencia and give him chance as CDM from time to time, it will be hard to breakthrough as CB but he could get what Lindelof got this year and something extra, and send Lindelof on loan.

TFM - rotate with Valencia, back up to him - 20-30 games per year and some subs could be good for Timbo

Pereira - I don't think we will keep him, he looked better in Granada last year - he doesn't stand out in Valencia squad, yes he plays out of position, and that's the reason why he cannot be trusted in MUFC, looking good at preseason against a shit side out of shape says very little. I'd love for him to make it but not sure where he will fit, We will most certainly buy a midfielder or two, so I think he's gone. Think he will have a similar career like Giussepe Rossi.

I don't think a player deciding to go out on loan should be seen negatively. Mourinho was not happy about it but he wanted to go and prove himself. Pogba left for similar reasons. I hope he is given the chance to reintegrate when he comes back in summer. It would be a mistake to sell him when we have such an unbalanced squad.

Agree on the point of not selling him. His talent is clear and I hope his head is well focused on returning here and succeeding.

1. Herrera has not been in form at any point this season. At best he has only played well a handful of times this season. McTominay has come from the cold and taken his place. Not sure why keeping Herrera makes any sense now. We need to invest in our midfield anyway. Good time to cash in.

2. 'Pereira is nowhere near with defensive awareness' - First of all Pereira is better in possession and has much better ball control. His role on the wing at Valencia are not the best indicators to judge. Which is why we need to see him given the opportunity to see what he can do.

3. You can't say Pereira is no 'defensive awareness' or 'consistent enough to play deeper in midfield' he has hardly been seen in a midfield role yet for anyone to judge. Moreover, Herrera is not good at either of those things. I think we've been watching a different player. Herrera has not imposed himself on a game in ages.

4. 'Thinking that player who haven't played a single senior game as CM in the premier league can do better there, you are totally deluded' - I'm deluded, What do you call Scott Mctominay rise? - Scott didn't have any experience but he surprised even me with his measured performances. He has played so well, Herrera get a game even when he is fit.

5. 'Smalling should be replaced with Tuanzebe who himself played their maybe a game in 5 men defence once in his life in a senior game in the premier league and plays as a RB for Villa' - If anyone believes Chris Smalling is worth keeping around we have serious problems. - Smalling is the most technically ungifted centre-back. I accept his ability to head the ball is good (Not against Spurs) but he will always be found wanting vs a half decent side who asks questions of defensively.

- Smalling's lack of ability on the ball is frankly embarrassing. His ineptitude on the ball means the midfield have to drop deep just to collect the ball because he doesn't have the brain to pass the ball forward. - Smalling is one of the reasons why we see tumescent performances like we did vs Spurs and Sevilla. All he does is instill fear and anxiety.

- What does experience have to do with it? - Rashford and McTominay are examples of this. - I'm not saying Tuanzebe is Rio Ferdinand. but I do know he is better on the ball and I would not have nearly as many heart palpitations watching him at CB. We need to reinvest at CB. I would love to see us go for Toby Alderweireld and pair him with Bailly/Lindolof. Tuanzebe could come in the first team at Smalling or Blind expense to learn and develop his game.

6. 'Smalling is easily our best CB in the squad this year and yes he has limitations when it comes to passing but he's by far the best in the air in the squad' - If being a CB at Man Utd was all about being the 'best in the air' you might have a point. Defending is not all about that and I don't think he is even great at that. He looks terrified of long balls played anywhere near him. Sure, he deals with things inside the box but Smalling will get exposed when he has the ball at his feet or if someone attempts to play a pass in behind him.

- How can you be Man Utd's so-called best CB Smalling and not make Southgates England squad? - Maybe, he's not as good as you think he is.

7. 'Reads the game well and by doing so can win the ball and start counters well, rarely makes mistake' 'Smalling starts counters well' - Sorry I just fell off my office chair on at this point.... The only counter attacks Smalling has ever started are one's for the opposition.

8. 'He's often one man defense with Lindelof' Lindelöf is significantly better on the ball than Smalling and he has not been embraced entirely by Mourinho. Mourinho seems to love players who are technically ungifted and well disciplined.

9. 'But fans like you will get back on him whenever he makes a minor mistake' - Smalling has been at Utd since 2010. He has almost been here a decade and those people are not on his back for minor mistakes. His mistakes have been there for years and he will never eradicate them from his game. He is 28. He will never improve defensively or on the ball.

10. 'Yes I am willing to give chance to youth but we are not playing middle of the table like Everton, we need to produce week in week out, you cannot put all youngsters as they are not at the level just yet... the same with TFM, people praise him but he's not even better than Valencia in not a single attacking aspect' - We are not 'producing it week in week' as it is. No one is suggesting we throw in all the youngsters. I mentioned integrating three players. Not 10. Fosu-Mensah is been decent for palace. Valencia is not attacking. He has pace, does a good job running up and down. But does he get assists and goals on a regular basis - No.

Mensah might not be a first choice RB but he is a suitable no.2 at least. Full-backs at Utd are average at best. Most teams have modern full-backs who can do both sides of the game well. Full-backs are more important than ever before. That's why a good full-back costs £50M+. We have stood still on that front.

Players like Young, Smalling and Valencia are robust, diligent. Perfect Mourinho players. Mourinho loves players with limited ability because they are easier to coach for him.
Which is why Sanchez, Pogba, Lindolof, Martial struggle for consistency under him.

11. 'It's easy to criticise some players playing in this shit system under Mourinho and it's easy to find a youtube highlight compilation of other players who you not see 95 minutes every game with all the mistakes they make rather than all good happened to the other player' - I don't need YouTube compilations. I form my opinions watching full matches and attending them in person. These are not hot takes, players like Smalling, Young and Valencia's limited ability will always cost us moving forward. Which is why I think it's time to move some of them on. Better to promote a few from within and sign 2-3 specialist players.

I think Mourinho should focus on defence and midfield. We need a RB, LB, CM, CDM. Papers say we will sell ten players and sign ten players. It's all BS! - We need to sign 4 players and the rest can be replaced from within. Mourinho only signs 3-4 players. I can see Blind, Darmian, Shaw leaving. So at no point was I ever suggesting we should throw in all youngsters. we need combination of both.

12. 'Man, this is not FIFA! My suggestion with the aforementioned youngsters is: Tuanzebe - next year to get cup games appearances as CB, playing as RB to fight with TFM and Valencia and give him chance as CDM from time to time, it will be hard to breakthrough as CB but he could get what Lindelof got this year and something extra, and send Lindelof on loan'

Lindelof is not going on loan. He is not a bad player he is just unloved because Mourinho doesn't know how to coach a player who isn't totally limited.

13. 'TFM - rotate with Valencia, back up to him - 20-30 games per year and some subs could be good for Timbo'

- Valencia is not good enough. We need Thomas Meunier and Alex Sandro at full back. Valencia should be sold or more realistically pushed down the pecking order given a lesser role. TFM should be integrated ahead of him. I don't think he is ready to start or be a no.1 but we still need an upgrade on Valencia regardless.

Don't take these views too personally. We might not see eye to eye on many things and I don't think everything is down to the players. Mourinho is responsible for this squad underachieving and being inconsistent. Some players have had enough time to prove themselves and i think we should try new things. We all have certain players that we don't like. I might be wrong. Mensah, Axel and Pereira might not make it but McTominay is an example that you don't need tons of experience to look relatively decent in a Utd shirt, Just like Rashford. We have good players in the academy. Promote a few, sell a few and sign 2-3 top draw full-backs and midfielders. Maybe we can mount a better challenage or at least play football that is more appealing to watch.

He was player of the year last season and now you want him out. Some people have the memory of a goldfish on here. Pereira hasn’t shown any signs of progression so far.

How is going from youth player, to odd cup game player here, to key player for relegated team to 12th man at a top 4 side not progression. Its a pretty clear line of progression.

Odd cup game is an understatement he’s 22 and don’t think he’s made his league debut definitely not from the start anyway.im talking about progression with utd, the Spanish league is much more suited to him than the rough and tough of the PL.He choose to go to Spain instead of trying to fight for his place here even going against JM. Can’t see him making it here to be honest.

I had high hopes for this kid but he's not progressing as well as I thought he would. It definitely doesn't help that he's wasting his time in Spain playing a position Mourinho doesn't see him playing at United. He's still young but time isn't on his side. Next season will be make or break for him if United don't sell him to Malaga for a cut price

Think he is done here. Seeing the way Mata has been used on the right I cant help but think he might have got some chances there in the cups at least?

Played 10+ mins off the bench yesterday against Leganes. Subbed on 80'. Just back from injury..

Valencia have said they are no longer treating him as a starter as they have no intention to buy him in Summer and are choosing to develop their own youth players instead. Therefore, I think appearances like this will become the norm unfortunately.

That's pretty unfair to the player. I see their logic, but a season long loan should be seen through to the last game, not 80% of the season. If that's the case, we should recall him and let him train with us for a handful of games - better on our bench than Valencias.

Valencia approached my agent and said they want to buy me which is flattering, but it wasn’t like it was reported in the media.

People said I’d demanded talks with Jose Mourinho when I’ve demanded nothing. The Valencia coach speaks with me a lot and we have a good understanding, but as far as I’m concerned I’m still a Manchester United player, with a contract at Old Trafford until 2020 and an ambition to make it at United. I’ve never sought to leave United.

I don't think he endeared himself to Mourinho with his last minute loan move and the way he's conducting himself in the media.

Would agree on a lot of it.....dont regards Valencia though. I never wanted us to sign him and thought bar one season wasnt great for us as a right winger, certainly no Ronaldo replacement (who is though). I did also think he looked inept as a right back when he first played there, he has improved a lot though to the point I think he is one of the most consistant right backs in Europe. Age may not be on his side but I would say he has been literally one of about 4/5 players worthy of there place this season performance wise.
As for Perrira, I really like him, has a lot of talent, never really made a mark in the few games he did play for us before all the loans but I would like to see him in the squad next year and get more opportunities in cm

Marcelino doesn't seem happy with they way Pereira ended his stint at Valencia, after he left as soon as he could before the league ended due to him being unable to play the last match.

"Se lesionó, hicimos un diagnóstico y mostró una predisposición rápida a irse. Si se fue... ¿qué le vamos a hacer?. No me puedo arrepentir de haberlo puesto más o menos debido a un hecho puntual. Para las alineciones intento ser justo. Si fuera su representante o su padre le hubiera recomendado actuar de otra forma. Pero no lo soy".

"He got injured, we did a diagnosis and he showed a quick predisposition to leave. He left... what can we do?. I don't have regrets about the minutes I gave him due to a single event. In my lineups I try to be fair. If I was his agent or his dad I would've advised him to act differently. But I'm not".

Even if it's understandable that he thinks his job as Valencia was done, these are the details that can "kill" a player for Mourinho, it shows he really didn't build much chemistry with the squad or the club and the he was eager to leave and start his "vacation" as soon as possible.

All true and even though he had a few moments at Valencia he wasnt fully convincing and couldnt hold a place in the team.

His vacation? He was back in Manchester at our final game of the season. So apparently if he goes out on loan then it means he doesn't want to be here but when he comes back and attends our game it "kills" him as a player for Mourinho. Jeez, people will criticize anything the kid does.

Alternatively, Mourinho may have wanted him to come back and spend the last week or two of the season with us. I remember somebody made mention of the fact that he was in the stands in our last match.

I do agree it's not a great look, but without knowing all the facts we can't really lay blame on him.
