Andre Silva

Not yet. Needs to improve his finishing but has the right mindset.

He's young still, so I won't put that label on him. His movement gets him plenty of chances, but he needs to work on his finishing for sure

I know, just a stupid joke about the similarities this season; a lot of goals and even more missed chances.

Fair play to him, he has an awful lot in his locker.

Is it just me or does he seem to be a little too slow? Some complain that Ibra lacks the right speed. Wouldn't this be the same but a player with fewer great qualities?

In my opinion Giovanni Simeone (Diego's son) would be a better choice, possibly cheaper too.

Apparently he's been touted here as a proper Mourinho number 9. Judging by the videos he does seem like a very promising player. I've also read that his finishing isn't the best, that could be due to age, some do get better at it.

I expect Griezmann to come in to play behind Ibra, but maybe Andre Silva could be a player we sign in 2018? I assume Ibra will be gone by then. Whilst I do hold out hope for Rashford, competition isn't a bad thing, it'll help him thrive if he's going become the player we all hope.

The value of speed in Silva type strikers is quite over-emphasized, IMO. Whilst he doesn't possess great agility and is clearly no speed demon in the mold of Aubameyang or prime Torres, he has deceptive quickness when he shifts the gears and is comparable to the likes of Morata (who once bypassed half of the Bayern team - linked) or Higuaín (who looks like a plodder at times, but has a good burst when running at goal or chasing down loose balls, and even clocked ~31 kmph in the 2010 World Cup). But he's fairly advanced for his age when it comes to a lot of key things you would look for in a complete package at #9 (especially as a lone striker for a Mourinho team because tactically, he asks a lot from them): good movement, overall positional intelligence, workrate, pressing from the front, and hold-up play to bring the other forwards into action.

Finishing comes and goes at the first team level (a lot of times, he gets into really good spots, but doesn't convert because of inconsistent decision-making or lack of concentration or below par placement), but he's only 21 - so there's plenty of time to improve that aspect of his game with regular playing time and experience (for reference, someone like Falcao - who became one of the most feared marksmen in the game was scoring less than 0.5 goals per game for River Plate, and Van Nistelrooy had scored 16 in almost 40 matches for Heerenveen at Silva's current age). Very few players are consistent or high volume scorers that age, and this is Silva's first full season as a starter for Porto, too. Dunno, maybe I overrate him because I've liked him as a player since 2015.
