We'll just have to revert back to old school swearing.

Humbug! Sparky is such a Slubberdegullion!

Damnation, you are an egregious coxcomb!

Humbug is a fecking good word, by the way. Should be used more.

Niall....pls. I'm crying right now. feck.

Honestly though. Porn and gore is an understandable hot potato that some advertisers would like to stay away from. But swearing? Jesus christ. It's moving towards complete and utter censorship of the boards and I for one am worried

As for drugs, I'm not a user, but does this mean talking about drug use is prohibited?

I don't see what or who is being protected if the word is written 'fcuk' rather than correct way. Are we anticipating they'll be someone out there who won't know what the words mean and therefore saved from offence?

Thanks a lot Google. What a bunch of Charlie Uniform November Tangos.

The rules make me think that the General should be made private where you can do most of this within reason.

I think the no partial nudity rule needs looking at because at this stage you are basically banning pictures of footballers because they're showing a bit of leg. Does every person pictured have be wearing a full on Burka? This could cause some serious confusion.

Aye. The caf is being fecking racist.

Not too surprising that the swearing rules have changed - this was one of the last forums that allowed it and I thought it benefited greatly from it in terms of adding to the content and the humour of the place rather than being a negative. In the context of personal attacks on other posters I understand that swearing is obviously different, but when used to describe someone like Suarez then I've always appreciated the freedom of the Caf.

I understand it's for financial reasons though - the most important thing is that the Caf can carry on.

i just wanted to say that i think you're a sell-out, Niall.

i also agree with what lynk says, mostly because it's lynk but also because i think he's right.

Rules to remember: no adult images or videos; mind your language; criticise the post not the poster; remain respectful to other posters;

 brilliant.

Just to clarify on the rules. Could I say post a video link in the music thread that includes profanity, images of drugs or even singing/talking about drugs, semi-naked women dancing around?

Is it brilliant or is it patronising and annoying?

Content that is strictly prohibited:
  • Excessive swearing (read more about this below)
  • Violent or gruesome content
  • Adult or mature content
  • Images or videos containing full or partial nudity
  • Copyright protected material
  • Drugs or drug paraphernalia

I, like some others in this thread, would like to know what this means? I can't refer to a bong or a syringe, or to any substances known colloquially as drugs? Does this go for all controlled substances? If I talk about, say, medication that the doctor would have to prescribe, could I be told to scan my prescription and post it to modmins' satisfaction? I really don't see what's meant by all this.

May we still rehash the argument discussion, as inevitably happens on most forums every few months or so, or is that out of bounds as well?

Or does this all just mean we can't talk about illicit substances in a way that condones or glorifies it?

Any song we are going to post in the entertainment forum will come under protected content too, right?
