Amir Khan v Andreas Kotelnik

Roach's work just shines through, its as much his victory as Khan's.

At last he looks like he's learnt and made the jump forward that he has needed to do.

A very good fight for Khan.

Kotelnik just couldnt live with the speed and movement. He doesnt take stupid chances now and even when he was caught with punches he took them with no problems.

Kahn does have a suspect chin but if anyone leaves the chin out and gets caught with a punch like the one prescott caught him with they would probably be knocked out too.

Kahn has the speed and fitness to win fights without taking too many shots anyway and he is an exciting fighter. Kotelnik couldnt open up and even when he did Kahn soaked it up and returned with good combos.

Roach has done brilliantly with Kahn.

We do have a boxing thread...

Anyway a lot of people dislike Khan but for no particular reason. He seems arrogant etc are a few I have heard not at all, boxing isnt a game for wall flowers he is confident in his abilities (and he very well should be) but I have never heard him to the extent of being cocky.

I think some people just dislike him for the point and others to bandwagon

I know exactly why some dislike him, and it doesn't take much figuring out.

Anyone know where i can download/stream the fight?

I was watching a re run on Justin TV last night - and I couldn't believe most of the comments. And here's me thinking that we've all moved on. . .

I was watching it last night and some of them make me feel ashamed of being British. I just minimised the chat box, some retarded f***s in this world.

Khan comes across a tad bit cocky and I've been told by my mates up north that he is but I guess that's to be expected but those "patriots" made me feel genuinely ashamed last night.

The BNP's showing in the recent elections should show you that we've far from "moved on" and some of the cretins on Justintv were typing BNP crap.

I mate of mine trained at the same gym as him(Bury). He became a bit cocky after winning silver, but I've heard worse things about Ricky Hatton - most people in Hattersley hate him but a lot of it could be down to jealousy. Who knows eh? Personally, I don't think he's(Amir) anywhere near as annoying as Hamed, in fact not by a long stretch. In the end it's all about what they do in the ring. Mayweather comes across as very arrogant - but so what? he's fecking amazing and I guess, that's all that matters.

I don't have a problem with his supposed cockyness, as you said, the best in the business all have it. Just look at Ronaldo but I'm not complaining. I just thought that some people may dislike him for his slight arrogance but sadly quite a few that dislike him, do so for the reason CW stated.

I've mentioned a few times after the Prescott fight that i was just sat in disbelief at the way people were cheering when he got knocked out. I was in Bolton too....

In a few of his fights, on the TV. I've heard what I think are a small chorus of BOOs when Khan's name's been announced, at the MEN arena. Unbelievable considering its the place of his birth:wenger:

Why is Khan pay-per-view?

Dont get me wrong I like Khan & i hope he has a brilliant career, but he's not at the pay-per-view standard yet - regardless of what Sky would have you believe.

Feckin €20+ to see him box with a couple of undercards. ITV had his first fights free of charge then, Warren & Sky started hyping the feck out of him just to get subscriptions!

I'd love to watch him fight but i'm certainly not paying for the priviledge in the same way i've done with Calzaghe, Mayweather, Hatton, De La Hoya & Anal Sluts 6!

So much for this rant, I ended up gettin the fight on, couldnt miss it tbh - €25 though!

Great fight & Khan really is looking alot more mature, i thought he handled yer man very well & Freddie Roache is really instilling steal & calm into his game. Freddie actually got the prediction spot on, he said it would go the distance & Khan to win!

Well done Amir - cracking fight & performance

Was a very good performance by Khan. His footwork, head movement, stamina and ring intelligence all showed signs of considerable improvement - impressive considering it was only his third training camp with Roach. He even took a couple of clean shots and didn't let it affect his composure, so maybe moving up in weight has helped his chin after all.

Be interesting to see who he fights now, although I hope to god it isn't Morales, which is one of the names Roach said he was looking at. Malignaggi would be a good match up for Khan, and I reckon he'd win, but I can't see it happening.

Morales is fecking massive now. Barely recognisable. Khan has already beaten one faded legend this year, I'd be really disappointed if this fight gets made.
I think his movement was good but not so much head movement, he leaned back out of the way of punches rather than rolling etc which is quite dangerous
Yeah, noticed that a couple of times in the later rounds... leaning back against the ropes with his chin wide open. A better fighter would've taken advantage of it, and quite possibly banged him out.

Still, I rewatched the fight last night and there's a bit towards the end of the 8th where Kotelnik has him on the ropes and fires off a few punches... Khan ducks and weaves and manages to slip all of them, before using his footwork to get out of there. Genuinely impressive stuff and far better head and upper body movement than I'm used to seeing from Khan.

He still made some basic errors, and left himself open a couple of times but he's only 22, and it'll take another few training camps at least before he starts to cut out errors like that for good. Can see him being a pretty slick fighter if Roach has his way, though.
