Amir Ibragimov

He is not quite as strong and quick as Rooney was at similar age i reckon, but Rooney is who comes to mind still.
3 players with higher ceiling in his age range? Amass?

Rooney was able to outmuscle grown men at 16. He's not in the same league with that. He's nippy, has some quickness so other than power yeah maybe. I think he's probably more technical than Rooney. He also gets up quite well for headers despite not being very tall. A possibility of being more Ronaldo like with his leap in the future

A 16 year old Rooney would have been immense in one of the no10 roles.

In terms of pure talent - Lacey is perhaps the biggest but injuries could be the end of his chances. It's also hard to overlook someone like Obi Martin. Mantato and Kukonki are also special.

We will probably never see a Rooney again - there is an interview with the late Kevin Campbell who tells the story about when he first played with Rooney for the reserves. Rooney was 14 and out-muscled players

I don’t like to get my hopes up about any of the kids…but Amir has always been exciting to watch.

What are his outstanding traits? I get that he's very good at this level and he's quite a neat and tidy player but I've probably not seen enough of him to be able to tell if he's really top class at any one thing.

My fear is that he could become a Shola Shoretire in that he excels at underage but isn't big, strong or fast enough to do the same thing at the highest levels.

I can see why you might think that way but I look at him being one of the youngest in the age group and being very physically competitive as a positive sign. I also think with Shoretire that it wasn't just physical, he couldn't always figure out how to get into a difficult game.

I think i see more tenacity and grit in Amir compared to Shola for example.
He seems fearless in his challenges and actions, shades of a young Rooney imo. Sadly without Rooneys "pitbull on steroids" like physical strength.

I don't even a negative view of him, its more that I just don't watch enough of him and his highlights don't really give me a good sense of what he is or even what position he would be most suited to. Can definitely see he has less passivity than Shola but the comparison was more to say that like Shola, he looks reasonably good at everything but difficult to identify what he is outstanding (not saying he isn't outstanding but just that I don't see him enough to know). Like when you watch Shea Lacy, Moorhouse, Amass or Chido, it's immediately clear what they excel at.

Good technical level is quick enough running with the ball that he'll be able to run into space and has got forward to score some goals where he can strike the ball quite well. Will also use his bit of quickness to make some runs down the channels. We'll only know what he can do against men when he plays against them. Yes we've had some decent technical players in the youth who struggled to step up to first team premier league standard - Daehli, Hansen etc. but each are their own story. Some will make it and others wont and some like Angel Gomes will make it elsewhere to a high level.

Maybe Foden-eque playstyle with the ball, very aggressive and high work rate without
Good mentality too? Was running until the very end last night.. just keeps going, win lose or draw.

I was a bit concerned a year or so ago given his size (v modern PL) but he’s grown a bit and doesn’t get knocked off the ball much.

Really looks like he has a chance.

His size and stature reminds me a little of Alexis Sanchez. Got that rapid burst of acceleration over the first 10 yards too. Not the fastest in a sprint, but quick enough.

His tenacity and work-rate is impressive. A very intense player that I reckon Amorim would like in the future.

If Amorim is still here. I like Ibragimov though. Apart from his technical qualities and his tenacity he is also an intelligent player with very good decision-making ability.

You can see the futsal background in his game. Very quick first steps to get away from his marker.

That performance looked underwhelming.

Could’ve had two goals and two assists. He was involved in everything we did going forward and won possession back with probably five brilliant tackles. Won at least two free kicks in dangerous positions.

I only watched the highlights some kind soul posted and he looked amazing. Some of the turns and passes were outstanding.

And he reminds me of Smith-Rowe, formerly of Arsenal and now with Fulham. He looks very similar in build and the low socks and the clever movement. He just looks and moves like someone ridiculously good at football.

Just so small again though. Height and build. It doesn't make it impossible for them to make it but it's a heck of an obstacle.

Frustrating we keep producing these really talented but tiny footballers.

He has a history of Jiu Jitsu which should stand him in good steed, learning how to use your weight and pivot against bigger opponents translates very well in the men's game.

Not sure why people keep pointing to his size. How many top notch players can you name that were short, slim or both!?

But there's small and there's small. I can name a lot more strong, fast, well built footballers than I can tiny people.

He's young so who knows he might grown a fair bit, height or general size.

I hope so because it'll make career progression a lot easier for him.

Main thing for me is them being physically robust enough to not get beaten up by the senior game and inevitably injured.

Yeah, that bloke Messi was a monster

Well we produce more that arent, they dont have the technical ability and go to league 1 or a weak foreign league

We have few small technical players that come through and the one I remember lots of people moaning about being too small left the club and now plays for England

Always a sensible comparison.

How many players that small have ever played for United in the modern era?

All I'm saying is it makes their chances very difficult.

Paul Scholes ? Juan Mata ? David Silva ? 17-21 years old Michael Owen ? Mohamed Salah ? Zola ?
All of these players have done well in the PL. If you are talented enough and have an excellent football brain, you can go pretty far.
