Is anyone going to really run against Clinton though? Obama scraped by her and he was seen as transformative, I'm not sure anyone else has a hope. I realise that obviously other people will run, but I can't help but feel they'll all be half-hearted.

I expect her to win the presidency fairly easily.

Clinton would clearly be a pawn of the money people...but she would put forward some good welfare reforms to please the poor. Like Raoul said this country is controlled by big money....Even if someone like Warren gets in...she will one day be killed. Remember JFK?

You seriously think we're going to see an assassination in this generation?

This all reminds me of the old Bill Hicks comedy routine where someone like Bill Clinton, Obama or Elizabeth Warren would get elected, and the next
day after inauguration they'd be sent into a meeting in the back of the White House with a bunch of old conservative fat white guys, oil barons, generals, military industrialists, pharma and monsanto executives, and they would tell them how things will be done, and right after that start showing them never seen video footage of about eight different angles of the Kennedy assasination.

If any president was going to be assassinated, it would have been the man that ended the run of white men as POTUS. Obama is still alive last I checked. I don't see how Warren is a more likely candidate for such a scenario.

It won't happen. If a black man can survive, a lefty woman will.

In other news, Rash Fatbaugh opened his big mouth again, well technically he never shuts it. This time he cried over the CBS hiring of Stephen Colbert. Apparently it's some sort of war declared on the heartland of 'murica.

That guy is a dick. What puzzles me about living in a red state is all the hicks and rednecks who vote rep by default and can't give two straight forward reasons why they do so

I doubt Colbert will somehow go to the 'center' so to speak. Progressives of which Colbert is one tend to be direct and challenge 'spins'. So whoever comes on his show will have to be ready for that. But then again..most of his guests will be famous people in film and music....so no worries.

The thing is, you can't assassinate these people anymore like before. In this day and age, no one's gonna buy this whack job lone assassin bollocks that did The Kennedys and Marty King, plus they'll totally get found out. More like they'll sabotage them politically and economically. And they got all these hitmen on talk radio, Fox News, and "no" congress et al, whacky billionaires who their minions can fleece and sociopath corporate CEOs. They'll feck over the country to get their way. What a bunch of pricks. They're trying to intimidate with all the phony patriot bravado gun bullshit and voter castration. Hopefully this is their last roar and we can move on. fecking dangerous people. cnuts.

It's a couple years old but still hilarious (just found it today).

On the subject of US presidents, Nixon and Reagan are among my least favourite, but their presidential libraries/museums in California are definitely worth a visit.

What act of treason has he committed? He's rightfully in hot water over clearly breaking law, but I am not aware of him actually committing treason.

Obviously hyperbole, but what the feck is this clown doing with his American flag when he doesn't "recognize the United States government as even existing"?

It will be Jeb vs Hillary.
That would be my take too. The Dem nomination will amount to a coronation, the GOP should be a lot more fun. Who are the tea-party frontrunners at the moment? Cruz, Rand Paul and Rubio still?

Hilary could end up not running, but I think her saying that now is just a diversionary tactic to avoid the GOP starting negative adds now to bring her poll numbers down. I think she will run in the end. I also think Andrew Cuomo could be a factor for the Dems. His time is slowly but surely coming.

Jeb would likely be the automatic frontrunner in the GOP. Not sure what would happen to Rubio if Jeb ran - although they would make quite a compelling ticket and obviously carry Florida with ease. I'd imagine Paul and Cruz will also run but get bounced early in the primaries. Christie is pretty much done at this point, can't see him having much of an impact.

If Charlie Cris becomes Governor, I would not be so sure Bush and Rubio will win Florida easily. There wont be voter suppression and the GOTV drive will be just fine for teh Dems. Early and extended hours voting will ensure Dems get their votes in.

Florida is still a slightly Republican state, so a respected former Governor and sitting US Senator should have little problem carrying it for the GOP.

It would quite a repudiation of the Tea Party movement if Jeb Bush gets the nomination. He's as politically far away from them as a GOP candidate could possibly be.

In 2012 Obama still won in spite of crazy attempts to suppress the votes in Florida. That is why I am confident Florida will go blue in 2016. Florida is going the way of Virginia, which is really now a blue state.

Is Virginia really blue? I can't imagine municipals outside of Richmond being Democrat. And NoVa is all suburb.

In relation to Obama's overall victory margin of 3.86%, only two of the states that he won were more Republican than that difference - Florida (0.88%) and Ohio (2.98%). Virginia's an interesting one of itself, as it got pretty much bang on the money of the overall margin at 3.87%. But of course, the makeup of Obama's vote is quite different to a prospective Clinton candidacy in 2016, so it's hard to project that forward. It's certainly now a genuine toss-up though, which is a big change of affairs.

For National elections, I see Virginia as being blue. Its hard to see the trend going the other way because of demographic changes that favour the Democrats. Their numbers are increasing. I think Ohio is the only toss up state. But if there is no voter suppression, the Democrats should be in good shape. Florida for me is similar to Virginia...except it is just a couple of years behind. Once again without voter suppression, Florida should go blue much easier than it did in 2012.

There is a definite trend there, but that will likely slightly reverse at the next election (or at least slow) as Obama won unprecedented numbers of african-americans, and that campaign's ability to get out the vote was immense. Even so, I'd say there's a pretty strong probability of it going blue again in 2016.

Do you think that finally Democratic voters are realizing they need to show up for elections?...I mean not just Presidential ones? Fair point about AA voters and Obama....but he will be canvasing hard for Clinton..if she is going to be the nominee..or whoever it is.

Also I understand because of the numbers...the democrats only need to have an average turnout to win.....for Presidential races.
