Amadou Haidara

What do you think of him?

My take: unspectacular signing but could be a very solid PL player and a good utility player for the right team. As @CloneMC16 said. It’s quite a strange one seeing as we already have a few box to box and 2 RB. i would have thought we could go a little more outside the box and cheaper than this or spend an extra 10 million and get someone exceptional. I trust Ralf anyway.
I don't know. I'm not a very good scout and I haven't paid too much attention to him. Ask @stefan92 , @do.ob or @Zehner who surely know more about him than I do.

I think, similarly to Zakaria, he was rated as immensely promising yet serious injury put him back a couple of years. So he'll possibly be a monster in 2-3 years though, but who knows. Not me.

We have too many box to box players who forget to take the ball with them.

Bleh. Just one time I’d like us to sign a central midfielder whose best asset is range of pass; ball retention skills; and ability to play under the press.

We need both. And it's unlikely to feature in the same player. Let alone in the January market. I saw some ludicrous reports of a 33m bid from Chelsea for de Jong...that's really a player we should be targeting alongside a destroyer.

Looks like a Kante type player to me. I love Kante but doing that in PL is a different ball game.

The fact he's a box to box player shows just how pointless this signing would be. We need a DM. He's not one.

I agree that we need a DM however if Donny and Pogba are both leaving in the summer as looks likely then we will also need another midfielder. If we're certain he's the man and we can get him now we may as well do it. Having said that it's a risk to sign anyone right before a new manager comes in and he's not going to be the difference between top 4 or not as Bruno was so I'm not too fussed either way.

From what I've seen (a few YouTube clips and stats) he looks neither particularly strong in possession or solid defensively. More like another Fred if anything. Not what we need.

Cheeky bid for Xhaka?
He’s in the same sort of boat as Ruben Neves (with a weird disciplinary problem) — If the game was played a second or so slower, he’d be one of the best around.

Didn't stop us re-signing Ronaldo.

...just saying.

To be fair very different scenarios.

One is a pending criminal trial in England.

The other is a potential civil case in America. Didn’t the potential of a criminal case get thrown out because of “lack of evidence” and her not wanting to prosecute, and a previous potential civil case stopped because of the apparent payment. I could be wrong but isn’t it that Ronaldo is only wanted to “speak to investigators”?

Either way no club is going to touch Bissouma with this hanging over his head. The likes of Rice, Ndidi and other Prem alternatives will be absolutely extortionate. Bissouma was the only cheaper option (would still cost nigh on £40m), so we’re going to have to look abroad and get a cheaper option to tide us over.

Looks like he played an inside right position against us. Not even a box to box cm.

Interestingly , I see very similar style being tried by Ralf. Quick one touch passes to the feet . Obviously not perfect, but I do see some similarities on how we are atleast trying to play.

In fact, SportBild have been reporting that Newcastle are in for him.

That's what I read as well. Rangnick also wants Zacharia but the board isn't convinced.

Rangnick's strength is to build young, hardworking teams. However, if the United board doesn't back him in transfer windows I can see he will just walk away.

Please do not sign a football player that may not fit into the new managers preference.

Ragnick is here as caretaker, not squadbuilder

This is worrying and one major issue with having a caretaker. We spend £33m on this guy and then the new manager doesn't like him. That would be a terrible scenario. Hopefully the club knows what they're doing.

That's why you have a DoF. The figure out which kind of manager you hire and which players fits the profile of the football that kind of manager is supposed to play. Then, the manager will have to fecking work with it.

You gonna spend 40m on him whilst there is a case of sexual assault still to resolve? Just saying

I often think people ignore everything off field with every other club as I’ve found myself saying this exact same thing every time I see Bissouma mentioned, outside of Villa the past week no one has been linked with Bissouma since October and no one will even consider it whilst his case is ongoing.

They’ll consider it if he’s found guilty and we have to sack him?

Isn’t that what Donny was supposed to be for?
Not particularly, that was more De Jong at Ajax. And I certainly don’t think that’s what we signed him for. Van De Beek is/was a free running midfielder who gets on the end of things in the final third. He wants to leave the ball retention stuff to others to focus on what he’s good at — peeling off into space in the final third. He’s like a Dutch Aaron Ramsey.

Wasn't Rangnick hired to establish a clear system and playing style as Guardiola and Klopp did? Then he will move up and has an important say who will be his successor.

If he is given the power to do so, the new coach will definitely fit to his hirings.

If it doesn’t work out in midfield, at least we can try him as a right back. We are also desperate for a new right back not just a midfield.

We have spent 220M on our current midfielders. We are absolutely terrible at buying any type of quality in that position from what i can see. Players not suited to playing with each other etc. Added to the fact that buying in January is somewhat desperate, i'd rather we wait till the summer to do our business this time considering the state we are in.

Why was he only on the bench for Mali today?

Bissouma started... Just saying.

Came on after half time. Looked like he played as an 8 as did Bissouma in a flat 3 in a 433 from the bits I saw. Started the first match played as an 8 in a 2 in a 4321 and then as an 8 in a 433, when Bissouma came on. Sammassekou played as the 6 in both games and wasn't substituted.

Isn’t that what Donny was supposed to be for?
Donny was okay as a CM in the Dutch league against trash, but when he played there against Champions League or even Europa League competition (e.g., against Getafe), he just embarrassed himself.

 Who knew. Writing him off before even kicking a ball for United. Let's leave the football, to the football people eh?
I didn't realise he'd signed for us. Not even saying it's a bad thing, I think Fred has his qualities. We just don't need another one.

Are you talking about our football people who have made mistake after mistake in recruitment?

I'd say we need both personally. Neither McTominay nor Fred should be starters imo

Is he really good though? Or are people just so sick of McFred they will take anything? If he's only a slight improvement and wouldn't get anywhere near the top 3 teams then what's the point. That's the standard we need to aim for.

Can't say I have seen enough of him to comment but what I have read he doesn't seem to be a top player.

What kind of player is he? Headless chicken energy like Fred/McTominay or actually talented and comfortable on the ball?
