Amad Diallo | Sunderland Loan Watch

How did he get a yellow card after getting tackled by 3 Coventry players and barely reacting afterwards?

Weak as piss refereeing, Coventry players basically refereed that. Ref should be demoted as low as possible for next week. Ridiculous.

The ref is sub-optimal. There were other tackles that deserved yellows but he gives Amad for staring the Coventry player down?

Playing better in the 2nd half and was unlucky not to score a few moments ago.

The past few weeks, and most definitely this game today has shown how far he still has to go.

Being physically dominated every time he gets the ball.

Good learning process for him this.

Great play beating his man. Decent ball in too almost winning pen and setting up a goal simultaneously

Despite a poor first half, he was the only one playing well for Sunderland in the 2nd half.

Don't think they will get into the playoffs if they don't improve soon.

Losing Ross Stewart has killed them. Him and Diallo were dynamite together. Amad cant do it on his own. Cant see them making the playoffs.

Just watching the second half, I thought Sunderland looked like us last season. Disjointed, half resigned, stressed. Amad was playing below capacity clearly, he looked at times passive and uncertain. At the same time, he was the one creating dangers or progressions most of the times anything happened. You could see how much better than everyone he is on the ball. The goal is brilliant. And then it’s so striking how much more intensively he is able to play (after the goal) than what he did for most of the half. If/when he has the Antony tenacity (like Patrick Roberts have, despite him being off form and technically weaker), he is a level above, when not, he has more in common with Sancho. He looks so confidence dependent. If Ten Hag can get him into hungry mode, there is space for him in our squad. As of yet, he is too little of a fighter to carry his weight in the PL I suspect.

Since the resumption after the World Cup, he has started and completed most games and, although he didn't start a match a couple of games ago, he did come on in the 2nd half.

He's looking a bit tired as are some other Sunderland players..

Within a minute…

His all round game has far to go, his finishing however is already there.

He was dominated by Coventry's backline today physically. Few good flashes but was generally marshalled well and wasn't really in the game much.

What a stupid statement. Even Pancho Pearson didn't score every week.
Alright maybe not every game, but if he’s really on the verge of being a regular player for us as some seem to think, as an attacking player, he should be scoring for fun at this level

Which of our players do you think would score for fun in the chanpionship?

Great point here.

I just checked his Fbref and Amad is in the top 99th percentile for accurate passes for attacking midfielders/wingers, that’s impressive.

Amad is
  • Press resistant;
  • Retains the ball extremely well; and
  • Left footed.

Three massive traits that a lot of the current squad just doesn’t have. He’s also a very clever presser (top 99th percentile for interceptions). I really hope ten Hag has a plan for him. I rate Amad very highly and think there’s something special that could be crafted out with a top tier manager like ten Hag behind him

Could not agree more. Those stats make the case for him even more than I was thinking.
