Amad Diallo | Rangers loan watch

In our current predicament it's important to have a head coach who can develop the talent already at the club, than go running to the transfer market to look for solutions in every position imo. And with ten Hag we may have that head coach.

There's potential options for ten Hag in Hannibal, Amad, Pellistri, Garner. And it would enhance his growing reputation if he can integrate a few of the aforementioned into the squad with good effect. That would then mean we can better allocate the funds available to rebuild the squad.

They are in the Europa League final. Schooling Bundesliga teams in the process.

The league is filled with butchers who want to break your legs (and refs seemingly allowing it), numerous potato fields and crap conditions. Rangers doing a great job in Europa isn't mutually exclusive with the league being great.

Terry butcher retired long ago mate… your ignorance is shocking, United are currently getting horsed week in week out away from home and you still find 5jw to slate the Scottish game!! Yes it may not be the best , but If you are classing the Scottish game as poor what about your home nations league Norway? We’re does that rank?

Or should we mention the Norwegian managers that have managed United? Yeh pretty poor

Who's the Lowry kid that everyone in the Rangers forum is banging on about after him came on?

"A touch of Modric" being one of the expressions.

Only 18 and he's been linked with Manchester City. Reminds me of a young Paul Gascoigne the way he glides on the park.

Him and Leon King (who also started) will be the new big things.

Hats of to the lad, could have moved down south for a shed more money, but wanted to learn his trade more and get game time

I'm sure in your head that sounded like insults, but it's not.

Scottish football is raw and tough and honest. It's not. There's no Saudi owners or Oil money or blood money. There's no blatant namby-pamby players rolling around 40 times holding their heads, after their shoulder being brushed with a fingertip... but it does have its merits. :p

The loan was a great one. I know that people are bemoaning his lack of starts, but Amad is currently with a team worthy of the name. He's certainly learning more now than he would sitting on a bench and being in a fractured dressing room

Newcastle made a bid for him.

I don't know. Hopefully he gets more game time next season. He does look special.

My feeling is he's definitely a more talented footballer than Elanga to operate from that right side. Which is not surprising because Elanga didn't come through with that much fanfare whereas this guy had a big reputation in youth football.

But that arguably means we need to handle with him more thought because we have such a big investment in him and physically he does need to adapt, so it's not a simple equation of bring him back as tempting as it seems.

I think we need to look at finding a more efficient loan for his development next year. I don't think he's ready to come back and play a major role which means we need to get football behind him to give him that chance to develop. He really just needs one really good loan like Garner has had and I believe he'll be ready.

Feck Rangers and van Carthorse for fecking up the loan deal for such a promising talent. Hope he finds a club that will truly appreciate him and give him game time next season that he deserves.

I'm not sure Amad will ever work out at United, but I'd like to see ETH give him a proper look this summer.

It’s up to him to force the managers hand.

Seems like it is your ignorance that is shocking actually. A Norwegian team with an annual budget of £10m ripped apart your champions elect both home and away recently. Still a crap league though. What has that got to do with anything anyway? I haven't suggested sending Diallo on loan to Norway. My point is related to his development. A small and fragile kid like him won't develop properly in a league where physicality and hard tackles are the norm.

Fair play to him on the goal. Maybe ten Hag will give him a chance next season if we can’t bring in a right winger. He has similar qualities to Antony.

The guy was arguably one of our best player in the last few matches of the 2020 - 2021 season. He was perfectly fine, it is just the same cliches that are getting thrown about.

Honestly Rangers have played Scott Wright ahead of him. It’s not worked out as it could have. Think after his OF debut GvB just decided he wasn’t for him.

It seems the manager had already made up his mind after hanging him out to dry after his debut in the Old Firm derby.
If Amad was really showing it in training/the other opportunities he was given he’d have featured more.

He's finishing the season well, which is all he can do. I hope he is involved in the final in some way, would be a fantastic experience for him.

The talent is obvious. The touch and technique is insane. He needs to stick around and be utilised as part of the first team squad just like Hannibal. Like others have already said above, with the lack of options we will have next season and hopefully with Ten Hag's approach of integrating young players there is a role for him next season.

He needs at least one more year at Rangers or Ajax or any other club where he can get regular game time.

Totally agree, he is a kid and needs time. New country (AGAIN) language and living conditions, from Italy to Rangers is a different world. Watch some highlights and you see the talent. Rangers will toughen him up.

Did you see him compared to his teammates. I can see why he hasn’t played. He’s a baby.

He needs to hit the gym. The UK is a man’s game. Hopefully we can look after his career. He might save us wasting more money.

You seen what lamptey looks like, at Brighton? Your post is odd.

From people who handle the loans at the club, the preference is to loan him out again next season, but ETH will have the ultimate say.

"The UK is a man's game".

I dont think I ever rolled my eyes as far back as I did when I saw this beauty.

This is an awful, awful take.

One thing that is valuable about the loan is he at least feels like he's part of the group at Rangers. He was an afterthought here. I've no doubt that he's seriously impressing during training over there but there's too much on the line for Rangers at the moment.

Preseason will be extremely important for him. Under Ole, he had his favourites so Amad was never going to get a fair shot. Everyone starts afresh with ETH so if he impresses he could get his shot.

Amad is 20 in 2 months. One of the best short players I've ever watched was Juninho who is way shorter and lighter, he performed in a much more physical Premier League. SPL isn't a Sunday pub league, it is more physical but the still have cameras everywhere. Not sure why you think small players can't develop as Zola is the same height and he played in Italy in the 80's, plus their are numerous other examples. It's not like Amad is getting injured every week, so you'd have some substance to back up your theory.

We could get Antony from Ajax and develop Amad as a false #9/RWF/LWF. I remember his first full start was against Wolves in a central attacking role and he was superb imo. We're too eager as fans to send players on loan, but imo I'm hoping Amad impresses ten Hag, so he becomes a part of the squad.

I like this idea. I wish someone in the club could just show the clip of him playing there vs wolves to ETH.

The Rangers fan in the below vid (2:45 of the video) says Dundee United tried breaking Amad in two with some horrific challenges but he still impressed and had a very good game.

This thread is amazing. You just have to read every 5 pages to get the gist of Amad's career to date.

After a bad game or one where he doesn't play:
Another waste of ££ by the United management/Ole. We paid £40M for a player who cant even get into the farmer's league.

After a 20mins cameo:
There is a potential WC talent there. We need to send Rashford on loan and play Amad next season.

Technically outstanding youngster who plays as a number 10. Like Amad, many feel he should have had more game time this season.

Well done to Amad yesterday. He still has an opportunity to make important contributions in the Scottish Cup and Europa League finals.

It might sound cliche... but you have to withstand the physicality. Giovanni is not just going to play him because we’ve gifted him a talented youngster. He’s trying to win games.

I think he needs regular first team football first and foremost and not necessarily in a physically tough league. His physicality will come as he matures and with work in the gym. If we sign Anthony a loan to Ajax would be great I think. Although, they might not be interested in giving game time to another clubs youngster. Their business model relies on developing their own/signing young players and then selling for profit.

ETH has to have a look at Amad, he has a history of improving youth players, if he can come in and think he can get something out of Amad, it could save us buying a left footed RW.

He's finishing the season well, which is all he can do. I hope he is involved in the final in some way, would be a fantastic experience for him.

I reckon his involvement will be the same as last years Europa League final. Sitting on the bench. (Irritatingly I still think Ole should have brought him on to just run at the Villareal defenders late on because I dont think they would have coped. Instead he plays for penalties....)
