For the person asking whether Amad can strike a ball from outside the area - there's your answer.

This loan has gone really well so far.

Sunderland were a league 1 team last season and expected to struggle but they're 4th in the table now, very good experience for Amad.

Fantastic goal. A lot more started coming off for him once Sunderland took the lead, the left back was reading him well at 1-1. Clearly a confidence player though, once he gets going he's silky. Still maturing in making the decision between holding onto the ball and laying it off. Was involved in a few nice moves down the right, in particular the one which resulted in Roberts' goal, Amad arguably should've been slipped in. Made some really nice runs on a few occasions that the Sunderland CF just didn't have the technique to find.

Hope Ba isn't injured. Bet Amad loves playing with Ba. Roberts and Pritchett are not that keen on giving the ball to Amad, obviously not thrilled with the competition... This hasn't been Amad's best game, you can tell that he isn't as sharp now in the deciding moments as early in the year. That is the big challenge for a kid that plays a ton of mens football for the first time. But at the same time, should we really expect him to provide that? Mostly, he does something good when he gets the ball. A few times he looses the ball. It happens. But I definitely think he enjoyed playing with Ba. Someone that draws attention with the ball and then doesn't hesitate to give it to Amad.

He definitely isn't a ba humbug.

Amad scoring on the day of Pele’s passing. The circle of life

Really pleased to see him being consistently good. Feels like in FM when you see a talent getting all green arrows.

Elanga could desperately do with a similar.

Don't think Sunderland would be anything other than Prem bottom feeders if they were to go up this year without major investment. Would be nice though if Amad could get another year with them if they were in the Prem, Mowbray is a great developmental manager and clearly trusts him. But if he keeps improving and maturing I think ETH will be tempted to have him back up and compete with Antony next year/get some minutes in the #10 slot. Dilemna as old of time between minutes and value he could bring to the squad currently. Playing for a promoted team that won't have the ball much also might not be the best for his development, but Sunderland play nice stuff under Mowbray.

Gentlemen we have a legitimate RW to our squad competing with Antony, Finally!!!!

Sunderland are 4th as it stands. Amad really could take them up this season

Dovetailed nicely with that Patrick Roberts lad who is the other one that showed some quality and composure on the ball today

Big teams with big following can improve very quickly. Newcastle have, and hopefully United will once the leeches are history

Not his absolute best performance overall.

Looked tired tonight, understandably, but still able to contribute some good moments and a terrific strike for the goal.

Jamie Mackie summed up how well Sunderland are doing then finished with:-
"Diallo is a serious player"
Hope he builds on this.

Very telling that Sunderland made 5 subs with the game in the balance and he wasn't one of them.

You'd imagine the young flair player on loan having a fairly quiet game would be the first one hooked a lot of the time. Mowbray must trust him to be able to change the game even when he isn't necessarily at his best. That's a great sign.

This is a common theme. He had this problem with rangers and less common but still happens at Sunderland.
He looks up and his teammates are either static, not making the runs or have very poor first touch.

Looks like the loan is working out perfectly for him, he needed to go and play senior football on a regular basis and he hadn't done that as much as many of his peers of the same age. He's earned his place and seems to now be playing really well and gaining confidence and experience, hopefully by the end of the season he will be ready to come back and contribute for United next year.

That was me. Such a valuable string to add to his bow in that position. Delighted to see that strike.

Has special level of technique, hopefully can build on all other aspects, if he can he will become a monster.

Mowbray's doing a fine job with him. Hopefully the hierarchy takes note and gives him dibs on any academy prospects he wants to take on loan in the future too.

I don't think a lower level PL loan does much for him. Those teams are trapped in their half trying to knick something on a counter attack, which does nothing to for his game. We're in an interesting conundrum next season.

I think he's better than people think. I see more potential in him than in Antony. Cracking player.

He’ll play plenty here. Our fans have an obsession with putting every kid on loan repeatedly for some reason when at higher levels they need to be developing in a proper possession system with good players around them. Shipping him off to a bottom table side so he can relentlessly track back and play on the counter isn’t going to do much.

Have to say, I'm eating humble pie on that one. I wasn't sure Mowbray was the right manager for someone like Amad, but I am happily proven wrong.

He’s been doing really well over there. Playing in a team that has been playing good fast flowing attack minded football. Mowbray rates him very highly.

Hopefully keeps this up and gets a chance here next season.

Yeap. If the new owners buy some statement superstar, and it blocks Amad's pathway...

We've already done that tbf - by spending £80m on Antony. I do wish the new ownership brings a more decisive structure at the top which doesn't just do whatever the manager wants. We did that by signing AWB when we already had Dalot.

We're playing checkers when other clubs are playing chess.

The more Amad plays the less I am convinced that he is an RW. At best a right inside forward but otherwise an AM and possibly a 10.

The man of the match award was given to a player that's younger than Amad. And that player was 19 year old Abdoullah Ba.

I think it will depend how he ends the season with Sunderland. If he sails through to the end of the season playing as he is, I think Amad has a chance of doing pre-season with us and staying. If there's a bump in his form or goes through a rough spell, I think he'll probably get sent out on loan for another year.

Personally I'd like to see him get a proper spell in the first team. I've always thought he's done quite well in the limited appearances he's had for the first team, there's no doubting his technical quality. I don't want to see him being drip fed occasional minutes in the cup if we bring him back though, he has to be treated as a serious player.
