He's not our primary or even only goal threat as most seem to use their strikers. As said in the OP, there are more than a few consistent goalscorers in the team that Cal has to worry about. Anelka's style of play at Bolton involved him drifting laterally to a flank in order to receive the ball and support the attack. He'd also make quite a few diagonal runs from a bit wider to get into goal. In our setup, he's being used to occupy and stretch the defence to open up spaces for the rest of the team to get into for goals.

For someone who isn't our main goal threat, he still did quite well at Bolton with a team that wasn't that creative or incisive going forward.

Sure. That's pretty much what I indicated.

One thing to also notice is that Hazard won't be given much space and time on the ball. Cal has too many players in the middle, which means that the midfield is already congested when his team have the ball. Sure, Hazard can remain wide and pick the ball from deep, but then he'll have to deal with Beardsley hassling him with his work rate. If he pushes up and starts to get into the left channel, he'll have to deal with Babbel who is playing a more traditional full back role than Riise is. Babbel, also has played as a central defender for Liverpool a few times, so if Hazard does try to cut inside in our third, Babbel can stop him. If Hazard receives the ball in our third in the middle, Butt can also close him down very quickly and make sure he doesn't settle on the ball.

As you can see, there's many different ways that Hazard can be closed down, and I fail to see how he can be compatible with Henry especially since Henry himself hasn't really played much of a supporting role in his time at Arsenal.

Not going well... :(

I get the impression people are voting for Gullit for the player he was rather than the Chelsea player... maybe I should have gone with Robbo...

Even though Gullit wasn't as good as he was at his peak, he was still quite a good midfielder for Chelsea and pretty much ahead of the times in England. If he didn't have his knee injuries, I'm sure that he would have played on and remained as influential even as a player-manager.

Cal?s side looks a right mess to me. I can't see Hazard/Henry/Torres working, the creators are all on the left side of the pitch and there's not much going on the right.

Stobz seriously needs to upgrade his midfield pair going forward. Gullit wasn't all that for Chelsea TBH. It will do here, just about.

I don't see Hazard and Henry being much of an issue, in fact I see it working very well- Henry starts central whereas Hazard starts wide and drifts into the 10 position.

Henry and Torres on the other hand I really don't see working at all- with Hazard and Henry more of a target man would have worked better.

As Anto says there's little threat from the right which makes defending easier for Stobz. I do think Rooney is going to have to come deeper than I'd like but Stobz team is more cohesive and would win.

Maybe swap Park and Hazard? It's all way too left sided at the moment. Perhaps something like :

Torres
Henry------------Hazard
Park----Herrera
Morgan
Hazard has only played on the left. There's no other position for him in this draft. Don't know why you'd want to swap. The best player in the league (by far imo) in 14/15.

Is this how we see this playing out in terms of general positions? Cals team has great individuals but I can't help but echo previous comments of them not suiting each other very well and this formation in particular being so one sided offers the chance for space to be minimised and make it easier to defend vs them, as opposed to other tactics aimed at creating 1v1 situations for any of that front trio.

@Cal? good game. You had many good players, and I honestly thought that the match would have been closer.
