This innings still gives me goosebumps. I rate it as good as the desert storm

Delighted with Kp. Can't believe he's lasted this long. Thought the 2 englishmen above us would have picked him.

In more important news, Mutton is basically Goat in India. And a sheep in it's first year is called a lamb. Countries outside the sub-continent refer to sheep as mutton .Glad we got that sorted.

There's no chance it'll come back up in 8 hours is there? Thinking of sleeping soon.

None at all. Forget about you missing deadline, likely that it won't even be your turn in 8 hours from now.

Always wanted to go. The only grounds I've been to are the 2 Dhaka stadiums, Chittagong, Sylhet and Rose Bowl and Chester le street in England.
I've lost all interest in cricket else T20s or ODIs should be good fun. That's the only match I have ever seen live. That and a Aus prep game at keenan stadium jamshedpur ages back.

A friend of mine who used to live in same society as me even used to go watch Ranji games. Think it was late 90s or 2000-01 when he had already started discussing Dhoni in our group and then he went to see Ranji game at VCA, Nagpur one day just to watch Dhoni. On returning he told me, "dekhna, Dhoni ek din bahut bada player banega" ("Just watch, Dhoni will become a great player one day") :)

Not to brag or anything, but I knew dhoni would be a star after I saw him playing for India A vs Pakistan. He opened the innings(or was no 3, forogot) and destroyed our bowling time and time again. Scored two hundreds atleast on that tour.

Another nostalgic incident from memory...Me and my cousin were discussing 'strengths and weaknesses' (!!) of invincible Australians just before they arrived for 2001 tour. I said to him, "Look, there is no weakness in that team. Just how do you beat them? It is impossible. I don't know what this Hayden guy is doing in that team though (averaged 27 with 2 centuries then), he is their weakest link. How come he even gets in that team?" Then we both had a good laugh.

I still feel Hayden heard my comment somehow and then responded to me in that series and for a decade afterwards :D

I see, nice.

Dhoni used to be a typical ranchi loafer. Some of my friends used to live in Ranchi years back when Dhoni had recently become a part of the A team. The guy would don leather from top to bottom and come on his bike to impress the girls in the area. After one particular tour where he did very well, my friends wanted to meet him so he agreed to come to the flat on the condition that they leave him alone with some girl for an hour after after he met them . Young guys as they were, they got frightened and said no.

Tbf, my friends who followed him at the time say he was always going to be a big star. Had a habit of placing bets and making money for hitting the ball out of the ground in some school that they played in. There was another wk batsman, a left hander, who was rated higher than Dhoni at the time but he had a bike accident and passed away.
