Checks out for me, despite Chilavert and Mauro both playing for different sides called Guarani and Valderrama turning out for half the clubs in the Americas. Beautifully balanced team.GK: Jose Luis Chilavert (Paraguay)
RB: Dan Petrescu (Romania)
CB: Alan Hansen (Scotland)
CB: Tony Adams (England)
LB: Paolo Maldini (Italy)
DM: Mauro Silva (Brazil)
CM: Carlos Valderrama (Columbia)

How about this:
——————Jaaskeleinen—————
Zabaleta—Godin—Koulibaly—Alaba
————Vieira————Gerrard————
————————Iniesta————————
Son————Drogba————Ronaldo
If Ronaldo is R9, both R9 and Godin played for Inter and both R9 and Iniesta played for Barcelona. If ronaldo is CR7 both CR7 and Vieira played for Juventus.
Also both Vieira and Zabaleta have played for Man City
Kane and Kante both played for Leicester.Kane (Totenham, England)

Some great choices, Redondo above all. Unfortunately Futre clashes with half the team: Naybet (Sporting), Lizarazu (Marseille), Redondo (Milan), Mostovoi (Benfica).Pagliuca
Piszczek Naybet Van Dijk Lizarazu
Redondo De Rossi
Futre Mostovoi Giggs
Romario
I was so focused about his time at Atlético that forgot about the rest.I will go with Finidi, my plan BSome great choices, Redondo above all. Unfortunately Futre clashes with half the team: Naybet (Sporting), Lizarazu (Marseille), Redondo (Milan), Mostovoi (Benfica).
Pagliuca and de RossiI was so focused about his time at Atlético that forgot about the rest.I will go with Finidi, my plan B
Shit, this is so difficult .Since I don't use Futre I can add Oblak like everybodyPagliuca and de Rossi
Shearer and Mane at Southampton.4-3-3
Think this team would be really hard to beat - I even made it balanced
Oblak
Maldini, Ramos, Kompany, Lahm
Platini, Zico, Keane
Mane, Shearer, Messi
So I've a challenging spin-off from the OP for anyone that wants to play: someone creates a team from the remit, but once finished they nominate another participant and issue a penalty player who must be included in the subsequent participant's side. None of the sides that follow on from the opening gambit can use a player that's been in a team before their own xi. Once they complete their own side, they then nominate someone else (or it can go in rounds) and the game continues with a reduced pool of players and options to construct from.
@Gio @harms @Invictus @Pat_Mustard and @anyone else who would be interested.
If it's a go, I guess it'll have to have its own thread as not to hijack this one. Game could get very interesting and reductive if the correct penalty players are used and the remit of keeping the sides 'all time in your lifetime' is maintained. An equalising year can be used as to not give a disparate tilt to people who have a wider pool of players to pick from.
The more participants the more amusing, and difficult it'd be!
Hey Pat,That would be absolutely brutal . I'll give it a try if others fancy it, although I reckon the quality will nosedive very quickly unless there's older posters with much larger pools to choose from. My football memories begin around 1990, and this was my initial attempt:
Fully expect there to be multiple cock ups, and in any case I've took liberties anyway with Zico being in semi-retirement in Japan in the 90s and even someone like Rush being past his peak by the time I remember seeing him play.
Right - swap Shearer for Kane thenShearer and Mane at Southampton.
Souness was signed for Spurs never played a full gameNot easy!
GK Yashin (Dynamo Moskow; Russia)
RB Ricardo (Leicester City; Portugal)
CB Ramos (Real Madrid; Spain)
CB Maldini (AC Milan; Italy)
LB Lahm ( Bayern Munich; Germany)
MF Souness (Liverpool; Scotland)
MF Platini (Juventus; France)
MF De Bruyne (Man City; Belgium)
FW Messi (Barcelona; Argentina)
FW Kane (Spurs; England)
FW Best (Man Utd; Northern Ireland)
Great team!
