Presumably after the fixtures have been released.
Knowing us it'll be at 8am and it'll be sheer lotto where games fall!

Last year wasn’t it a week or two after the fixtures were released? I know when we were members they used to open the ticket sales as soon as the fixtures were released but I’ve got it in my head that I read on here last year that they held off for a couple of weeks. Maybe, if so, that was a Covid thing though and they weren’t sure of restrictions.
 
If anyone wants two tickets together to the youth final tonight let me know. I’m going tonight with a couple but two dropped out.

Turns out changing the name on a season ticket has become increasingly difficult.

Last season we changed my wife's adult ticket to an over 65 in her father-in-law's name, due to her pregnancy. Phoned up today to get it reverted back to an adult ticket in her name and the first advisor simply stated "we aren't doing name changes," and suggested we renew as is and upgrade the ticket for each game she wants to go.

Thought I'd try again, and though the second advisor was a little more receptive, he eventually suggested I send an email requesting the change. Will see how that goes but don't fancy our chances.

Wife's not happy - not only is she struggling to get her ticket back, she's also been told she's now lost her tier status on account of not having the ticket in her name last year. You'd have thought pregnant women would be allowed a break but hey-ho.

Unfortunately, for this coming season 2022/23, name change is not something that we will be offering I'm afraid, although, changing the concessionary price from the Over 65 to Adult is something that we will be able to do. So Mr ####### will still be the owner of the season ticket with an Adult price and then match by match you can forward his tickets to your wife's account.

If you are ok with this please reply to this email so that we amend the price type.

....they weren't kidding. You literally cannot change the name on a season ticket anymore.
 
That’s ridiculous. Surely that’d take 30 seconds to change back while you’re there on the phone. They’ll surely have your wife’s history of being the original owner there in front of them.
They really don’t do anything to help themselves do they.

Tell them your wife only changed it under the assumption it could be changed back again this season and she feels as if she has been discriminated against under The Equality Act due to pregnancy and watch them change it for you.

I can’t see how the name change is a big deal.
However, the United Membership and Ticketing Services have been on par with the 1st team, performance wise this season (for dealings I have had with them).
 
Unless it’s one of the big games then you should be able to just buy a ticket when they’re released.
It’s worth bearing in mind if you‘re travelling though that initially they’re all given a 3pm Saturday kick off time until TV schedules are decided so you might buy one in June which says it’s being played on a Saturday but it’ll be subject to change and could move by a few days.

They’ve said no seat moves this year to accommodate supporters returning after deferring for a year.
I can’t imagine that all will want to come back though after the season we’ve just had and the cost of living crisis too.

It might be worth checking to see if you’re able to select a move online once the deadline‘s passed before spending half the day on the phone to the ticket office.

They usually have a window where they will offer seat moves. This is after the deadline, and before they offer those on the waiting list (deposits) the seats.

Like mentioned above, they have said that they won’t be offering relocations this season, but they did say also they won’t be selling new season tickets, which they did (Tier 3 and quads).

In my personal opinion, they are playing their poker face. I think there will be a fair number of punters not renewing for reasons: state of the team and personal financial matters.

Thanks guys, pay the full amount before the deadline so I don't lose the seat and try for a move a week or so later is my plan..
 
Just got an email saying I'd taken a 1year break and had said yes to buy a ticket - do i still want to?

I'd ignored the last window, so surprised there's another one starting 9am Saturday?

I've lost track, can you simply sell tickets back to the club for games you don't want/ can't make? Is there any limit on that?

They said that it was something they were bringing in for the new season but haven’t released the finer details yet, and whether you can just return Burnley on a snowy Feb night or if it’s just if there’s demand for tickets. Demand was mentioned in one release about it but in another it just mentioned season ticket holders being able to sell individual games back.

Ta pal. Think I'll stick with a membership and keep the commitment and stress low.

Things like that late notice Chelsea home game move are the things of nightmare when you try and keep season tickets from 200miles away.

I had a friend lives further away than you in Portsmouth, he has a season ticket next to one of mine, he came to about 6 or 7 home games. With this new digital transfer system it is so much easier to get rid of tickets when you can’t make it especially with safe sites like the Cafe. We managed to get rid of every spare ticket for him. This new ‘ returning unwanted tickets to the club’ is a good way for United to make more money. My seat in K stand costs £37 per game. If I return to United I get the £37. However United then sell that same seat to a member at members price which is £45 , so an £8 gain. if I was you I’d buy the ticket , you’ll save in the long run.

It’s because the YearOuts got to pick from only a handful of seats in March/April.

Now, they are going to have the opportunity to purchase ‘better’ seats in the ground. Given they will have first up choice of all the seats that were not renewed (deadline this Friday).

It’s a no brainer now, either ask around your group or sell it back to United.

If you can afford to shell out the initial sum and wait for the drip feed back. Or, United may in the nooks and cranny of the T&Cs advise that the buy back return comes to you in credits (for next season ticket or store) and not in your bank balance.
 
I've renewed and had a look through the T&Cs and can't find anything about having to attend a certain number of games otherwise you won't be able to renew the following season. Am I missing it or did it not get added? I recall and email from MUST about this & obviously it seemed controversial and unnecessary, but I don't remember hearing it wouldn't be applied?

I don't have the time or the motivation to go to every game, I probably go to about half of the games but I don't want to lose my seat, it's easy to just ttansfer it over to someone, now if the club buy it back that makes it even easier

If we still had the vouchers and the card ticket I doubt Id be renewing

According to this, your season ticket must be used at least 10 out of the 19 home PL games; I think if you forward it to a member this counts as being used so as long as your ticket is scanned at at the turnstile that is fine.

Concessionary ticket holders must personally attend 10 of the19 PL games.

Well spotted. Yes, it is still there! Why? Not sure what issue this helps with or fixes? Plus, the renewal date is before the last game of the season and renewal usually opens months before that, long before we've had all our home games anyhow - so not sure how this is workable?

Passing the ticket on by transfer is fine, I do it when I can't attend, but (1) you can't always guarantee someone's able to take it and (2) if they do, what if they can't go at the last minute due to something? This puts unnecessary pressure on. I'm not impressed by them policing our use of a ticket we've bought and paid for. Maybe they want to push into the resale or donation to the foundation?
It's ridiculous. Even more so set against the context that games are moved all over the place, sometimes at relatively short notice, for TV. I'm OK with that side of it as it's a relatively short journey for me, but my pal does shifts and has ended up missing games this season as they were shunted to times he had unavoidable work shifts.

It definitely leaves me asking, what's happened in previous seasons to inspire them to do this? Is this pre-emptive against boycotts?

I suppose they want to make sure the seats are filled and aren't going empty. Even if the seat is sold and they have their money, they will want people coming and spending money on food etc.

I can see both sides of this, one the one hand it is very clear from attending games that many tickets go unused for much of the season, presumably owned by ST holders who only attend the "bigger" games. The club are probably trying to "encourage" these ticket holders pass on or give up their tickets to the club or regular attendees so they can make more money and keep the attendance figures up. There are many cracking seats at OT which go empty for much of the season, many ST holders try hard each season to move their seat, if we want to give the club the benefit of the doubt, serial non attendees are the primary target.

If we want to be a bit more cynical, as already mentioned in the thread, if the club has the ticket sold back to them from an ST holder they can sell it at a higher price to members.

Obviously short notice fixture changes are going to be a factor in why people cannot attend, next season is going to be packed with midweek fixtures I believe, due to the WC being held in what is usually the busiest period in English football. I hope that there will be some leniency in the renewal decisions if many ticket holders couldn't attend due to fixture changes, however if you give the ticket to the game back to the club rather than a friend who may or may not be able to go, this will count as our ticket being used. I suppose with that option it is up to the ticket holder to make the wisest decision if they want to keep hold of the ticket for the following year.

I must say I think on the whole its a positive change, ticket holders have the option to not go (forward to a member who can definitely go, or give back to the club), and the club keep the seats full/can resell tickets at higher price/can move other ticket holders around. One thing which isn't clear is whether giving your ticket back to the club will affect your away ticket credits, I suspect it may.

My wife and I were very disappointed that United don't have a modern policy that reflects the fact that pregnant women will likely be able or unwilling to attend for an understandable period of time. COVID was well timed, so we only to sell two or three, then stadiums were closed and the baby arrived. In the interim, we have just kept renewing and passing tickets on to friends and on a Facebook group. Not yet failed to get rid of any ticket, although next season will be tough if you opt into the EL/ECL as we don't have a babysitter for Thursdays.

I wouldn't count on the buyback option being available for most cup games next season. There won't be the demand there. The only tickets I have ever failed to sell at face value (and therefore had to opt out) have been Europa League matches. Should be fine for league games though.

Who is eligible to apply for domestic away games?
Applications for domestic away games are accepted from disabled supporters, Executive Club Members and Season Ticket holders at Silver Level and above who purchased all home cup games in 2021/22.

No, they want to get tickets out of hands of people who have them but rarely attend. There's plenty of people who renew each season, with the intention of rarely attending or only attending the big matches or when things are going well. Ultimately, United's season tickets aren't that expensive, so for wealthy people it is not that an onerous cost. We have a row of six or seven seats behind us in the Stretford End Tier 2 and they are occupied less than 50% of the time easily.

You won't be, I don't think. Generally you have to have held a season ticket for three full seasons, and have bought all the home games for the previous and current season to be able to apply for domestic aways in the current season.

Personally, I’d pay an extra £5 and join the TRA, which would get you a seat in the ‘singing’ part of the Stretford End.

It’s mint but you also get a new e-ticket every game and therefore there is minimal risk of handing over your ST to someone.

I’d never sell back to the club but I’m lucky enough to people who will always get rid of my ticket on my behalf.

I’d come almost guarantee that if anyone on here is part of TRA, I’d sell an spare ticket within an hour.

Ultimately, don’t get rid of your ST

I think this is pretty much what I expected to be honest. I just wasn't completely sure due to the new options with regards to opting out. Thank you for clearing it up for me :)

What elitism are you talking about?? I’m not saying it hasn’t happened, I just don’t know what you’re referring to. I’ve never, ever noticed anything elitist about.

I get the no filming question but that is more to do with the overall planned ethos than anything else

What, are you saying you'd prefer it if filming was recommended? Surely it's better being in a section of the ground where we can have a penalty or a free kick and you know that everyone around you is actually going to watch it rather than the sea of phones that appear in other areas of the stadium?
