I wonder, is there any way to save this thread in a separate file?
Anyone know a way? Mods? Niall ?

I've said before it would be a great subject for publication; a precis of the unfolding storyline, an analysis of the various 'camps', the evolution of opinions and theories, the polarisation of the extremities, and the extraordinary media angles good and not so good would surely go to make a fascinating, not to say humorous read.

Not sure there'd be much of a market beyond United supporters, but there are supposed to be 70 million of those worldwide! (Or whatever the ludicrous figure is.)

I have just spent the past hour and a half watching our match highlights and other clips I had downloaded over the last 2 seasons.

I had braced myself for his exit, but after watching all of that, I am pleased that we have kept him, and I am really excited about watching him play for us again.

I take it you're not in the UK. (or do you have insomnia?)

From this morning's 'Marca';

HE PREPARES AN INCREASE FOR CR7

Ferguson wants to Renew Cristiano Ronaldo with another (contract)

The United coach is not content to retain Cristiano for this season (alone.)

Not even with the remaining four years which the Portuguese must comply with before the expiry of his contract with Manchester United. The boss Ferguson wants more and already glimpses the possibility to renew their star for more years.

"Four years of contract remain to the player, and at some time we would be able to extend it", has declared the Scot, emboldened after winning his contest with Real Madrid.

"He is happy to be a Manchester United player", said Ferguson in reference to the Portuguese player, "and always he has been happy here", he announced.'

And the other story;

THE SCOTTISH COACH DOES NOT WANT THE PORTUGUESE STAR TO PLAY IN REAL MADRID

Ferguson left it to CR7 to go to Barça for half price.

The main one responsible that CristianO Ronaldo is not a Real Madrid player is Alex Ferguson. The Scottish coach is the person that has all along impeded the completion of the dream of the Portuguese star to be dressed in white.

The Manchester coach has always declared that he has not allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to leave because he is a key piece in these approaches. Nevertheless, these statements collide with the fact that, in the meeting between the coach and player some weeks ago in Lisbon, Ferguson opened the doors to his player to abandon Old Trafford, but with the condition that he went to any club in the world, except Real Madrid.

Alex Ferguson was even willing to permit the exit of Christian Ronaldo to Barcelona for half of the money that Real Madrid is willing to pay. Representatives of the club azulgrana were put in contact with the agent of the player, Jorge Mendes, to declare to him their interest in hiring the Portuguese star.

But the operation was not carried out because the player threw it into the bin. For the fact is that Cristiano does not want to play for any other club but Madrid. If him not finding a remedy continues longer, he will have to endure nine more months on a stool at Old Trafford, but his mind will be set on signing for Real Madrid next season.

In fact, the extreme already has himself been in contact with some of the friends that he has in the Madrid dressing room to assure them that if his acquisition by the white outfit does not bear fruit this season, in the 09-10 he will do it with total certainty. The Portuguese star already has decided and is not willing to change it. In fact, he will reject the proposal of a renewed contract that Alex Ferguson intends to offer him in the next days. Be assured, Jorge Mendes continues in England trying to exhaust the last options that still exist of convincing United so that they accept Madrid's offer for Cristiano.

'Presumptious twats' is the expression that springs to mind. That and 'the insane ravings of the spurned suitor'.

Just like they never made any of those 'It's a done-deal' claims!

that paper is full of crap..believe me on this..i was in barcelona a few years ago in the summer with a few mates...and had a chance to look at marca one morning...and it had a picture of gerrard in a madrid top...and had a headline with something along the lines...para Galactico a la Gerrard...some rubbish like that...you would have been convinced gerrard had signed...and we rushed to an internet cafe to catch the news....there was nothing watsoever anywhere of even a link between gerrard and real madrid....

the paper spread rumours like no other....

Aye, that tyrant Fergie, denying a young man his dream.

"Cristiano does not want to play for any other club but Madrid".....which is why he never handed in a transfer request.

They forgot to include the part where Cristiano declared, "Give me to Madrid, or give me DEATH!"

The hall of shame ...

:D

After all my efforts, slaving (if you'll pardon the expression) over a hot keyboard, I still don't make the Top 10?

Un-freaking-believable.

As for today's Marca - "anywhere but Madrid" story - that came up 3 or 4 weeks ago (way back on P411!) in AS and was rumoured as "SAF has told Mendes" even before that. Some of those SAF has told Mendes, even had SAF telling Mendes that not only wouldn't Ron be getting a move to Madrid, he wouldn't be playing again for United either. Oh well - not even Marca can be right all the time.

Best story in Marca today is the one headlined, "More attractive than ever - the Premier League's back," with a run-down on who's going to be challenging United this year.

I think you mean, in-freaking-conceivable.
:smirk:

You've made many excellent posts in here jojojojojo.

Your daily Spanish press posts became must read.

I'm sure you could ask for a transfer to another thread.

'...meanwhile, Spanish paper 'Marca' reports that a bid is imminent from realmadridtalk.com to land top Manchester United forum Redcafe.net ace poster BahamaRed, which, it is believed, will break all records for previous such deals. Ramon Calderon is quoted by Marca as saying; 'I've spoken to the kid, and as I have already explained to several of my close friends, including Rafael Nadal, Bahama confided in me that he has harboured the dream of posting for the white club since he was a boy. His only ambition is to post for Los Meringues, and wear the white strip of a realmadridtalk poster. I can state with absolute certainty that next season 'BR1700' as we are calling him will be posting from the Bernabeu.

'Only those at Redcafe who have consistently tried to block his dream, such as the wily 'Sultan' and the scheming Jasonrh stand in his way. His agent, kaka83 has tried strenuously, working behind the scenes, to undermine his position at 'the Caf', hoping to make his continuation there untenable.'

Meanwhile it is also reported that Bahama red is to undergo surgery at a top Amsterdam clinic for what emerges as a persistent bout of typer's wrist, which has flared up in the weeks since May 21st, and which might mean that he misses the first few weeks of the new season.'

Ends.

I stay

I'd like to come out, here and now, and declare that I think, in forums, there is too much modern slavery

Bahama may or may not wish to agree with me several hours later at a hasterly arranged press interview. We may both wish to pretend we meant something else entirely at a later date

The name of 'Carly' comes to mind. But lets leave that in the past shall we.

So, Mendes stands to make £1.5m if Ronaldo goes to Madrid.
Wonder if he'd even consider letting his client's wishes interfere with his impending richness?
Agents are the problem, they are in it for the money - footballers would make a fortune wherever they played, whereas agents make the money from keeping them moving around. Absolute joke of a profession.

Have you had a dream?

He's had the noodle dream.

that would mean this thread should remain open as long as Ronaldo remains a United player....
Not necessarily. It's already slowing down. Only 9,000 views today. The lowest since it began.
Unless something significant happens it will fade away, with only me, ThatoldRedMagic, Alex, jojo, Striker10 and Keyser left in here.
