To be fair, while it does look bad, he kind of explains it himself later on. He may or may not be a racist, but what he's saying in that post is that people from Birmingham are the racist ones.

Thus it's not black people's qualities he's questioning, it's the bias from white people in Birmingham...

Still pretty silly, mind you.

You could of course argue, I'm naive for buying his explanation.

Show me the post, because I can call someone a nigger without being racist, but that's another subject and another long thread, in fact it's been done before.

I haven't lost my marbles. I have just stopped holding in a shitload of frustration for too long and sometimes, when I am laughed at, it just bursts out.

I hate all this shit about GCHQ having to "prove" who he works for when the person asking it only has to say "I work in a hotel in Birmingham".

We'll get back to the discussion but I think a few people need to butt out because they offer absolutely nothing.

As an addendum, I will just say that if anyone wants to take it personally, I am up for taking it personally. I say nothing on here that I wouldn't say to anyone's face. That is why I am usually polite. I don't routinely go around picking fights with random strangers. Live and let live is my motto.

However, if someone has an issue with this philosophy, I am happy to accomodate.

He wasn't being racist, he was just saying that there're a lot of racists in Birmingham; see the difference? Typical of you to get all queeny over it though.

I have never been racist. Let me just clear that up.

A person should be judged on their actions. Nothing more.

I just went out for a couple of weeks in Florida for a holiday and I saw the same situation. White people behind the desk but Mexicans doing the cleaning and other menial jobs.

As I said earlier... It was so obvious, it was uncomfortable.

Look cockle, what people take as an insult or not does not quantify nor qualify it unless you know the context in which it is placed. The use of a particular term of language may or may not be socially acceptable, depending on the society concerned, but its use does not necessarily show any underlying convictions within the individual that uses the said term. For example, my grandfather always used the term "wog" to describe blacks, but I can assure you that he never had any prejudice towards black people whatsoever, it was simply a common and generally socially accepted term to use at the time. One thing does not lead to another.
