Television Alice in Borderland

Loved season 1 back when I watched it and I like this season too.

Yes the romance/emotional parts are a bit over the top (as it seems to be usually with Asian shows) but this show is quality for me.
The Prison game, the lawyer game, the shipyard game, the 7 of hearts game from season 1 and most of the games from season 1.

The ending with the Joker card makes it seem like the asteroid thing is not real, hopefully there's a 3rd season.

The Manga its based off apparently ended like this so I guess it's one for Netflix themselves to decide. If they want a season 3 they've left it open to do one but if they don't then it's a good ending either way

Yeah, to be fair most/all of the main female cast are. I was also a big fan of the crazy one in the prison game

Agree on the female cast.

The bow girl (sorry forgot her name) and Ann are stunners.

Finished this the other day, it's excellent. Up there with the best Netflix shows for sure. Squid Game had far more hype and exposure around it and was also brilliant, but I'd say this is better for sure (maybe Squid Game season 2 will be unbelievable though).

Maybe I'm just being a billy big balls but my only slight gripes were that I 'figured out' the final games of both seasons almost right away... Maybe they weren't supposed to be that difficult despite being the last games. All my friends who I discussed it with had no idea though until it was revealed.

Anyone else feel like that?

Imagine watching a dubbed version of anything
I watched this with subs but watched squid game dubbed. It’s not like it’s the most serious thing in the world so can get away with it with these I think. Sometimes want to be able to piss about on laptop or phone without missing everything.

Watching season 1 at the minute, I'm basically being pushed on my the comments in here and interest in the nature of the games. The acting is painfully atrocious - especially with the villains.

Edit:
Finished it, yeah, not a fan of season 1 at all. The need to create all out chaos ruined it for me in addition to the fact that apart from the thrill of the games themselves, everything else: plot, acting, etc is terrible

Finished it and overall it was definitely fun. I find it cringe that a lot of Japanese stuff has to spell out the emotions you're meant to feel or message you're meant to take out... Anyway, these things annoyed me:

- the plot armour. How many times should military man have died? And bra girl. One leg girl literally got machine gunned from stomach to neck yet survives

- the long haired dude self sacrifices... Then lives, making his sacrifice pointless.

- why the feck would Arisu start talking to Mira in the tea scene? He knows the stipulations of the game... Just fecking play you idiot.

Finished it now. Enjoyed it although found the last episode quite slow and boring.

The joker at the end made it seem as though they’re still in the game to me?

Otherwise ending on ‘it was all just a dream’ is pretty meh. Apparently this was the real end of the manga, but that didn’t show the joker card, so could be room to build on it.

The people getting obliterated and then surviving was silly, but I suppose the ones who survives are the ones who survive in real life, if the end was actually real, so kind of makes sense?

I get the idea for dubbed if it's background but I can't take it. One it just looks weird, never liked mouth and voice not being in sync. But also more importantly I feel the dubbed doesn't capture the same "emotion" that the actor I guess would portray when acting the scene, maybe it was one bad dubbing I saw but that to me felt weird and never drew me in to the scene/characters

If it was something more serious I fully agree.

I tried the dubbing on All Quiet on the Western Front and Germans sounding like an early 1900s Englishman immediately sent me west. At least give them a German accent!

Just finished it and enjoyed it thoroughly.

The Joker in the Manga is the ferryman between the Borderlands and Real Life so he's been used here to generate the possibility of a 3rd Season instead.

I was amazed that one leg girl and the stabbing victims survived but after watching the whole thing it makes a little bit more sense now.

I hope they do another one I prefer it to Squid Game.

I loved the first series and I'd say I enjoyed this one even more so.

The characters are great, the tension and suspense is incredible and the acting is really good. It's definitely better than Squid game for me although I enjoyed that too tbf.

I hope if they make a 3rd then it's not just for the sake of it and to cash in.

All I've gotta say is the actress who plays An is a stunner.

She's Miyoshi Ayaka a japanese model/actress! I started to watch the show just because of her.

Overall I think it's a very good show and from my understanding they covered all the manga in 2 seasons so I don't think they're making a third season unless they decide to write new stuff.

I understand the comparisons with Squid Games because of the battle royale settings but the're different enough it's more of a matter of preference as both shows are good (I liked better Alice in Borderland in my case). Still the superior story would be the original Battle Royale but Alice in Borderland feels more like a combination of Gantz with Battle Royale. I also enjoyed more the stories of the side characters, specially the Kuina girl and I liked the action sequences, Aguni fight style feels like mexican wrestling. I also started to read the manga and while it gives more story and insight to some stuff that is not explained on the live action I think the live action is better than the manga.

Totally with you on all of your spoilers.

First I thought it was kinda funny but it got really annoying in the end that basically no one that had died half a dozen time was actually dead. In the fight against the pique king at the end I thought like "holy shite he is really going to kill all of them apart of Arisu, but I'm sure he is going to find a way to revive them or something like that." Nope, they just weren't dead, despite dying only minutes ago, especially the one leg girl getting basically shot in half by a military rifle still being alive, common man.

I think if you accept that it all went on in his head while he was dead for 1 minute then it doesn't really matter if their surviving was realistic it was just his narrative.

if it all being a moment of purgatory to see who will come back and who won't was the case, then the people that die in the game and die in real life would have given the show stakes... But the way they did it, completely took away from that... I know it's Arisu story but it should have not been done that way considering we spend time away from him in many eps.

So I got drawn back in to see what kinda games they'd come up with at the start of season 2, and I got completely hooked!

I think the growing relationships, the more varied template, and the answered questions means this is one show where season 2 >>>>> season 1.

It's not even a contest - season 1 was painful for me to endure (particularly the last few episodes) but I wanted to see the end, season 2 genuinely got to me, even the cheesy, cringy over-dramatised and drawn out scenes were worth it in the end. To anyone else struggling through season 1 and wondering what the fuss is all about, I reckon like me, season 2 will change your mind.

I have officially changed my stance - top show

He knew the stipulations of the game, but he also knew that she was never going to continue the game until they had the tea

yeah just down it like like a true Brit in Ibiza and then carry on

Just finished it thanks to the WW crew recommendation. Facking lavd it!

Nice! Glad you enjoyed it. I really love it despite its flaws. Although I'm annoyed because I thought the bump was due to a new season or something.

Yeah sorry  It’s a bit cheesy at times and the ending andlack of deaths of characters who clearly have sustained deathy deathy stab Stabs etc are a bit jarring but overall really enjoyed the games concept.

Season 3 unlikely having read up on the manga no?

Well I can see how they make another. Maybe they go away from the manga... Who knows. Still remember that episode where the first shot is of that guys naked butt

It reminded me of the Simpsons movie where they cover Bart’s penis while skateboarding.

Can only assume ithe whole seasons is based on the Joker then. Guess the ending was 'fake' to feck them up or something
