Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Lol. Made my day bro

Some very cruel remarks about Miki, albeit some are in jest. There is definitely a top player in there, as he proved at Dortmund and with some of his performances for us last season. He scored some pivotal goals in the Europa League run, for example. He just seems totally devoid of confidence at the moment and is really struggling. It looks like his days are numbered now.

No. I see his creativity as more of creating for himself than making others around him better. (like a better and more productive Martial). From Arsenal, I would pick Ozil ahead of him.

I simply dont think its worth the cost in the long run. If he was younger, I might have a different view.

For me, all moves should be towards winning silverware next season.
A 29 year old Sanchez would be too old to contribute but 19 year old Pulisic who is not ready would be a good choice?
It makes no sense.

So, on one hand you say it’s not worth it in the long-term and you want younger players for the future, in the next breath you suggest you only want immediate short term signings?

Well you would think with the way people talk about the endless money pit and how they can buy whoever if they wanted Alexis they would have matched our 100mil+package. They went to 72mil surely they’d push that little bit further if they could.
I don’t think there’s any doubt they could spend the money. At the end of the day, they’re just trying to save face. The player has been convinced to go elsewhere - hopefully to us.

Why do we even want another younger player in attack? We've Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Lingard who still haven't reached their peak and in the case of the first two, their peak is quite far away.

Sanchez would complement them beautifully.

I expect this to drag on further. It seems that the ball is currently in Mkhitaryan's court, but he's probably lost it.

I am not a fan for a sanchez move at this stage. His addition would likely come with a tidy transfer fee and very high wages. He is not going to win us the league or CL and the FA cup is a long shot.

With/Without Sanchez, we should still finish in top 3 and have a decent run in CL. Except for a good LB, I dont see the need for a January move

I would be more interested in looking towards the summer for players like Dybala, Pulisic etc. The team needs more creativity in the final 3rd.

Ummm... So many issues. Why would you say he won't win us the CL and that the FA Cup is a long-shot? You say we need more creativity in the final third but don't want a player who adds exactly that? Buying him doesn't mean we can't go for a Pulisic in the summer (and he's not at this level yet). Also, I'd argue that in the CL, our missing element wasn't the defence (which I hope is fit by then) but the attack where we were struggling to score enough against the top teams. Sanchez mends exactly that problem (or goes a way towards mending it anyway). Strange thought process, I'd say, to not want him!

PS: The FA Cup is typically won by a top3/4 team and we're second when I see the table. I'd say we're in with a great chance anyway and adding Sanchez only strengthens us!

Imagine him running up to Pep and squawking at him with that voice about wages, like a drunk peacock.

Seems as if he's having to be convinced a fair bit. There's no way he volunteered himself, but surely he must at the same time see there's no future for him here. Especially seeing as in the last few months Lingard has become the player we thought Dortmund were selling us anyway.

Anyone else starting to get a bit bored with this whole circus now? Just feckin sign for someone and get it over with!

Morning it's 6:30 here, woke up 15 minutes ago, made coffee and this is a 2nd thing I did. Oh and I brushed my teeth of course.

It's been reported from last 3-4 days and how can Sanchez sign for anyone when no club has agreed deal with Arsenal?

I'd take Sanchez over Ozil anyday. Sanchez is one of those players who's able to win games by himself.
We badly need such player, Martial and Rashford are still hot and cold.
Lukaku is more of a target man than a flair player.
I doubt Ibra will stay here next season.

Adding ozil is like adding a better version of Mata to the squad, which is never the priority. Pogba can also play in his position. Mata and Herrera too.

Even Perisic will improve the squad massively imo, let alone Alexis fecking Sanchez. We need a proper winger. And if We sign Sanchez this window, Jose will be able to shift his priority elsewhere (e.g Full backs). It's not like Sanchez is 34 or something.

So this move is also for next season. I don't know why you think it isn't.

It could happen today, or there could be small print to agree, which drags things out for a couple of more days. Hopefully there is noting that can derail the move.

Imagine if this was all a smokescreen like lukaku/morata and suddenly we announce we’ve signed mahrez, Ozil or Griezmann. I think we’d all faint.

Still wary about giving them Mkhitaryan.
Convinced there's a very good footballer there. Would be frustrating if Wenger unlocks that talent.
Give them cash and send Mkhitaryan abroad.

Agreed, I have the same reservations.

At least he's not 21 and has a whole career ahead of him, so if he does go, and ends up being amazing somewhere else, it'll only bite us for a few years.

Well I guess it’s a case ‘well he’s on that so I want this’ scenario. Frankly it should have been capped a long time ago along with ticket prices. And agents fees for that matter.

The problem is everyone involved with this gravy train are making too much money and that’s why they won’t do anything about it.

The more I look at the deal the more I think is this really the right thing to do? Just because it’s set a precedence for future deals. Do you think Pogba and De Gea will be happy earning £100k less than Sánchez per week? Our wage budget is already the highest in the world and we are nowhere near close to being the best around.

Sanchez is clearly a fantastic player, just a shame we are likely to only get 3 good years out of him.
You can look at our wage bill in a different way.

When clubs try and sign players they look at both the wages and transfer fee. Our players become that much more expensive to buy.

We had Rooney on much higher wages than anyone else here and it was fine. De Gea is a goalkeeper she is already the highest paid one in the world. No one will match what he gets at United.

He was doing well with Pogba during the start of the season. It is not a coincidence that his performance dropped incredibly when Pogba got that injury. I think he is an intelligent player and I am a little bit sad to see him go but anytime you can get Alexis, you have to do it.

The main issue guys is Micki salary. Arsenal wont pay him 200k a week. Never. Thats where the issue is. Arsenal need him to reduce his wages.
Sort that and Sanchez is off. Sanchez personal terms already agreed. Now agreement with Arsenal is proving hard nut to crack

I wouldn't be worried. Wenger failed to achieve anything with better players. If it were the case of selling then of course I prefer selling abroad. Here we're partially trade him in for superior player while maintaining professional relation with Arsenal, it's thing needed to be done.

Mkhi is a lost cause for us, at least for the rest of the season. Better cash in and save the wage than seeing his value tank as we can't afford to give him game time just to find form while fighting for whatever we have left to aim for.

In terms of talent, short of Ozil and Sanchez, no player in that squad is a patch on Mkhi.
He might be a lost cause but we shouldn't risk him finding his Dortmund form there.
With Auba going, we could be looking at a dangerous partnership.

Mkhi with his form at Dortmund didn't really win anything. Arsenal used to have RVP, Cesc, Nasri... yet they still failed to stop the decline from the great days. You think Mkhi and Aubameyang alone can lift that team up from where they are now? Arsenal with the current squad without Ozil and Alexis would need much more investment to come out of this slump than just a few couple of former Dortmund players. Price is getting more and more expensive even for taking a punt.

Why do you care about the transfer fee and his wages?

He's not going to win us the CL/FA Cup? How do you know that? He will improve our team that's for sure and he will give us a better chance at winning those trophies.

I think why Mkhitaryan doesn't want to go to Arsenal is completely understandable:
- No player on the buying side would like to be a part of a swap deal.
- Any player with some reputation and a name would be mad if he'd want to go to Arsenal at this moment.
- The current wage of Mkhitaryan is far higher than the highest one in the wage structure at Arsenal.

And I don't think Mkhitaryan would be a hit there either (if he goes to Arsenal). We have a much better squad than Arsenal and he couldn't perform in that given many chances, I don't believe much in the possibility that he could there.

I feel the plus point of Mikhi Moving is if he continues to play like this, it will be a headache for Arsenal. We are basically Upgrading Mikhi for Sanchez + We are saving wages as well. This is what I used to in FIFA all the time.Never knew it could be possible in real life football too. Cash + player for a new superior Player.

I would rather pay 40 million in cash rather than 25 + mkhi, as i think mkhi might fetch more money than that. Also Sanchez wages are no problem for us at all. Considering three big earners will be off the wage bill with Mkhi(200k), Zlatan(300k) and carrick(150k) leaving at end of the season. That is almost 700 k/week of the budget, dont think chelsea match that, even if they offer similar terms, we might just up the offer if we want him enough.

Different view. Having seen Kagawa and now Mkhi, am of the opinion that these players are just not cut out for the PL. Which is possibly why Mkhi would also prefer going overseas (if he had the choice). Look also at Auba. Nobody seems to want him, despite his quite impressive stats. With that record, a PL striker would be going for 100Mn+, but nobody anywhere (barring Arsenal of course) seems to want anything to do with him in all of Europe. The early-season numbers for Mkhi are also deceptive with a lot of the assists coming in those late flurries we scored in with the opponents pushing high for an equalizer leaving acres of space to run into.

Mkhi may well offer Arsenal a slight upgrade on Walcott, but he's not going to be even close to what Alexis is. Add to that the departure of Ozil from Arsenal and I really feel we have nothing to fear. It's hardly like Mkhi propelled BVB to glory even in his best season there (and their squad was a lot better than Arsenal's, specially post Sanchez and Ozil).

Mkhi may but also may not get the better fee for us come summer. For Mkhi to be sold at good price, he needs to be given gametime to showcase his ability which is a luxury we don't have since we have other players who deserve and need game time. And that is still quite reaching considering how. bad Mkhi has been recently. We may risk getting bad result yet Mkhi is the same at the end of the season. We're to pay Mkhi wage for the next few months regardless which eating up quite few millions as you listed him at 200k a week. There may be some cut for Dortmund. Trading him in we can work with Arsenal to set the price low enough to minimize this cut...

Yes, exactly this. I'm hoping Sanchez's experience can help teach the younger players like Rashford and Martial a thing or two about leadership and maturity on the pitch.
