Pay him out and just release him. Gone.

He’s on roughly £1.4m per month, it’ll cost a crazy amount to release him.

Offering him out for free is our best bet but even then I can’t imagine anybody offering him anything close to his salary here.

Think it was against Fulham the other day, there was a counter-attack and he just couldn't keep up. Looked like Mata, he's lost his pace and his explosiveness.

Finished. Ship him to China in the summer.

Might have been leicester, and even Johnny Evans sprinted past him. Was sad to see.

Think he needs to be played up front if anywhere. Still a player in their and he showed that pre-season Ole just needs to figure a way to get the best out of him.
Up front ? He's too short and he cannot trap or not lose the ball to save his life. He's finished at the highest level.

Just complete nonsense, I'm sorry. Can't trap a ball? Have you seen Marcus Rashford? The bias on this site is unreal. I suppose Aguero is too short, and Griezmann. He had a couple of games up front before he got injured under Mourinho and he was pretty good. I know Rashford has had some good moments and everyone wants him to do well, but if Sanchez is not good enough based on tonight, Marcus Rashford certainly isn't.

He has physically had a steep decline. I still remember the Sanchez that had ripped apart United and Darmian in particular.

No use in playing him as a winger, seeing he can't beat a man anymore. Play him as a sub to Rashford upfront, and (try to) sell him in the summer.

With him and (potentially) Lukaku gone in the summer, we would have to have some major investment in attack alone.

And just leave the number 7 shirt alone for a while....

Nobody would pay him anything close to that - best bet is China or something.

What would that cost? £40 million+?
Does it matter at this point? Having him around does more damage than good and he won't sit quietly on the bench for the whole of next season. Put his face on a bed cover or a pencil case and sell it only in Chile, raise the money then sell the nob.

Since Sanchez signed:

3128mins - 14 goals - Paul Pogba - goal every 223mins
2479mins - 14 goals - Romelu Lukaku - goal every 177mins
2021mins - 12 goals - Anthony Martial - goal every 168mins
2054mins - 12 goals - Marcus Rashford - goal every 171mins
2259mins - 6 goals - Jesse Lingard - goal every 377mins
2578mins - 4 goals - Chris Smalling - goal every 645mins
1664mins - 3 goals - Alexis Sánchez - goal every 555mins
1692mins - 2 goals - Ander Herrera - goal every 846mins
1817mins - 2 goals - Juan Mata - goal every 909mins
3303mins - 2 goals - Nemanja Matic - goal every 1652mins

Stats are from PL games only

Even a club as wealthy as Utd can't just take a hit like that on a player investment. They will have to stick with him and hope his performances improve - this is the downside to paying massive wages, if it doesn't work out then you are stuck with them.

I'm talking about Sanchez, have no idea why you'd bring up Rashford here :wenger::lol: You're the one who has a seriously weird bias here.
Aguero/Griezman are players who are much better than Sanchez has ever been and have played for years centrally with good scoring records to boot.
The current Sanchez is finished, yeah he cannot trap the ball ,he cannot hold off physical challenges, he finished at this level and you want him to play as a striker ? You must be out of your damn mind. I'd play Lukaku ahead of Sanchez there ffs

Im so frustrated Arsenal got his peak years. He is a fan of United and we shoulded have bring him after he left barca :(

We should have gotten him when he left Udinese. There was a lot of talk at the time of him being a United fan and United being his dream move. A couple years of Sanchez under SAF would have been amazing.

I completely agree.

It’s been a disaster and playing him to feed his ego/justify the wage is just not acceptable.

He’s probably the worst player in the squad bar maybe Darmian. The one player you can reliably expect to be a hindrance.

Klavan chased him down from behind in the preseason in a straight sprint.

It’s amazing our scouts can’t see when a players legs are gone before spunking 400k a week on them. People forget how bad he was in his last 12 months at Arsenal. Finished player.

I am honestly shocked what happened to him. I was one of few who was excited he is coming but at the same time thought that our board is clueless yet again bringing a LW when we already had Martial and Rashford playing here. Looked like a signing purely for marketing purposes. At the same time, it's Alexis, one of the best players in the PL in recent years, he is surely gonna improve us? Nop. I have no idea what has happened to him but absolutely nothing comes off for him, even simple passes, he manages to mess them up. It seems like he lost all his abilities overnight. Maybe just number 7 shirt is cursed.

Seem to recall at the time there were a few of us who were a bit hesitant on Sanchez because stats wise he was clearly struggling at Arsenal. Still don't think anyone could have predicted 13 months on from his signing he'd be on 3 premier league goals averaging a goal every 555minutes. That's truly diabolical for a forward.

It is not based on just tonight though.

Don't see what he offers that any of the u23s wouldn't.

I'd far rather bring Chong or Greenwood on than persist with Alexis.

It is frustrating to see Alexis being played as a LW every time he gets a chance. Over the last year, we have seen time and time again he is useless in that position. We need to play him centrally, that may be his best position now. Our front three:

Rashford - Sanchez - Lukaku

Sanchez would be able to interchange with both Rashford or Lukaku.

What's better mean? Context please?

Better than a 21 year old, better than technical player with no pace that the fans want to on from, better than a player that has never played on this level in club football and is also in poor form.

Seriously though, do you find his performance(s) acceptable for one who has been on the level of hazard, de bruyne just 2 years ago?

His best season was 6 months before you signed him where he netted 30 times, assisted 13 times and 12 man of the match awards. He played as a false 9 for most of that though. When it was apparent he was leaving he was moved back to the wing but still managed 8 goals and 3 assists and got 3 man of the match awards but he seemingly seemed like he wasn't trying.

The thing is though throughout that time when he was in form he would make loads of braindead decisions. He'd always overdribble or pass to the opposition constantly. But the goals and assists made it forgiveable.

Wenger also allowed him loads of freedom and would commit all of our players in the opposition half pretty much. This meant Sanchez was pushed further forward towards goal and he had more time, space and players to link up with. When he left I said 'he won't play the same under Mourinho'. Then watching a game where he's dribbling in his own half I knew he wouldn't work being so far from goal. If he went to City instead he would have done better. Pep managed him before and knew how to get the best out of him.

So yes he is past his physical prime but the goal he scored against us (arsenal) showed he does still have something left imo. He just needs to have a team built around his strengths.

Thank you ThierryFabregas for your most insightful reply.

I suspect many of us on here probably were unaware of what is highlighted above and were just aware of the raw facts, goals and assists etc. His ability to pass to the opposition is quite staggering for an international player.

I am also intrigued by the fact you mentioned when he was moved to the wing it seemed as if he was not trying. Maybe there's a streak of petulance there as he's certainly not looking enthused by his current role either.

Once again appreciate the info,
Cheers CM

Put some new Pogba merch out in China and use the proceeds to release him. We can and will jettison him if he's a toxic influence in the dressing room, you can't have people like that around. I suspect him sitting on the bench all next season would cause that response so just get rid now. If Fulham can loan one of their arsehole strikers to Turkey, there's no reason we can't do the same. He just has to go before August for me.

I just hope this is our last ever foray into the transfer market for a big name over the age of 26. We've been burned every time, with perhaps the exception of Zlatan

Just a scapegoat on here cause most people never really wanted him anyway. No different to Rom and as a consequence, people just jump on the bandwagon even when yesterday is hardly a game he can be criticised for. Maybe it hasn't worked out as we wanted but the guy creates nearly every game he plays in. Weekend should have scored and set up Tom for the header which he should have scored too.

People just need to move on although not sure to where now Fellaini's gone.....it's like we lost so default to the Sanchez and Rom thread. If I can't get on there Pogs 'not being WC' will do.

I'm trying to understand you here, are you saying Sanchez deserves to be kept as an option for the starting line-up because he creates "nearly every game he plays in"? (He can't be here only for squad rotation with such wages)

Just out of curiosity, were you one of those who thought Rooney towards the end and recently Fellaini were being scapegoated for the team's poor results and actually deserved to kept on for another season or two?

It's crazy that words like "scapegoat" or "bias" are used by the fans who wanna defend Sanchez. He's simply past-it. Nothing more complicated than that. We took a gamble and it hasn't worked out. Can he improve ? Well sure, he cannot get worse for me but will that justify his wages ? I highly doubt it.

Our signings under the age of 26 haven't exactly lit the world alight either to be fair, our recruitment all around needs to be far better

Never seen such a decline. Maybe Torres. At this point, I find myself surprised when he successfully holds the ball and doesn't lose possession.

Try him upfront a bit and if it doesn't work call it a day.

I'd go as far and say that only Pogba and Martial have been successes in the last 6 seasons. With Herrera, Matic and Shaw in the "decent" category. All our other signings have either been inconsistent or simply not up to the task.

Was he injured before he moved to us or something? Because he's lost any talent he had at Arsenal. I'm pretty sure we've got grounds to terminate his contract based on pretending to be a footballer, fecking gross negligence.

I said it on here months after we signed him. He's old and has lost his burst of pace. The Caf age scientists never agree though. Apparently 31 is the new 20.
