Wow and again wow. I remember 9 months ago how most of us refreshed his transfer thread 100 times per day. And now people gave up from him. I refuse to do that. He was in top 3 players in PL. He will find his form. No way he is finished. I just can't accept that

I was in the same boat, but he's taking too much focus compared to how much he delivers. Just when he came on against Chelsea, he instantly lost the ball as he's done a thousand times.

He's so careless with his passing sometimes - If he'd just keep it simple sometimes, he'd be a starter.

I think he's actually a good link-man to Lukaku as he knows how to find his head and make passes to him behind the defence, but he should keep it a bit more simple when he gets the ball in not-dangerous areas or he'll be gone. It's like watching a young Ronaldo.. If he at least had some more end-product.

That simply sounds way too sexy.

Sanchez
Martial Mata Rashford
Pogba
Matic

This. Absolutely. I want to see this at least one time. Have a feeling everyone will click without a lump with no first touch up front. Sanchez will be far better in central role close to the goal.

Jose said he's out which could mean a lot of things. I honestly hope he's injured and not throwing up a strop for not starting games

This going to go down as one of the worst signings ever if things stand. I am quite shocked how bad he has turned out to be for us. The last thing I can come up with is trying Sanchez up top.

He and Mata linked up really well during pre season. Be nice to see them getting more time together, with Mata behind Sanchez.

You must have also been one of the few that was in denial about Rooney as well. Be objective. Trust what you see. Alexis has consistently shown no glimpses of quality for us and has significantly regressed our football. Mourinho has finally acknowledged that

Very frustrating. These are the games he was signed to make the difference in.

We've all struggled to explain why an exceptional footballer for Barcelona and Arsenal has turned in consistently ineffective performances for United. A working theory we shouldn't dismiss is that his personal life is in a bit of disarray.

We can accept the difficulty of adjusting to the cauldron of United, but Alexis was a seasoned professional and not a youngster from another league. He had the tax fraud problem to deal with, then he had a falling out with his lover in September and now he's launched a clothing line -- which has not gone over well. Who knows? But what we do know is that he's had long enough to find some kind of consistent form and that just hasn't happened.

He's 29 and should be at his peak now, and he's always been a fit lad. He's nowhere near a declining Rooney at all
Should be. However he has definitely lost the little bit of pace he has had and has significantly lost the agility he had from early arsenal and late Barca days. The unfortunate thing is that he has not adapted his game style to accommodate (Rooney did to some degree which is why his decline dragged on). As a result we keep seeing him breaking possession loss records over and over again. To make it worse, he has this horrible habit of trying more audacious dribbles that he cannot physically pull off anymore because he tries to compensate for the last 5 times he’s lost the ball. You don’t build a team attack around that. We haven’t. No surprise why before he arrived last January we scored 4+ goals in 6? games in the first half of the season to a total of 0 after. He collapsed our attack.

He needs to accept his body has significantly regressed and needs to adapt his game. He seems to be refusing to do so.

He'll be fine, a top player in a really poor period of form. I've no doubt he'll be back to his best soon enough.

Form is temporary and all that.

Lukaku could use a spell on the sidelines given his poor run of form. We could do far worse than giving Sanchez a chance to shine in his position.

I recall him performing rather well for Arsenal on the rare occasion he was played as a striker.

9 months ago we thought Jose had a proper plan for him, turns out the plan was to destroy the only useful wing in the team.

Sanchez reportedly already looking for a way out, if true the guy has no fight in him and good luck to him finding anyone willing to meet his ridiculous salary demands. It was always worth giving him a shot, but it's becoming clear that he is already on the way down of his career. It's happened before at even younger age to other players.

If he's not starting i guess the management are going to want him out asap. His wages will be a ticking time bomb in the dressing room if he's not performing.

The only way you can justify paying that kind of money is if the guy is doing it consistently, and he isn't. Don't see what option we've got but to get rid if he can't nail down a regular place.

Hopefully this is a watershed and we don't go for any more aging marquee signings in future.

I'm inclined to agree with that- we need to adopt a similar policy to Monaco and BVB sign young players with potential and invest in acdemy players.

We should never have signed him in the first place. Martial and Rashford was perfectly fine but I'm afraid we are stuck with Sanchez as no other club out there would pay him the ridiculous salary we do.

There will be little to no interest in a past-his-best 30-year-old who just so happens to be one of the highest paid players in the game.

We're stuck with him for the foreseeable future, better we make the best of a bad situation and find a role that suits him.

That's easy to say in hindsight.

Sanchez was one of the best-attacking players in the league before he arrived at United. He has been disappointing so far but let's be honest, we all thought it was the coup of the decade when he signed for us.

Because no one thought he was going to indirectly affect Martial like that. We all hoped it was either centrally and on the right side he'd be used

He wasn't that great for Barcelona. Not even prefered by everybody over Pedro.

Like Bailly and Lindelof
I think we should maintain a balance like we have been doing

Agree, best hope is that someone from China or the US wants him

Yeah I probably should have explained myself better - I have no problem with Bailly tbh.

Lindeolf on the other hand was not needed we should have bought someone experienced to compliment Bailly.

Can't agree with those that say we should never have signed him. He was regarded as one of the best players in this league ffs!.
He played close to goal for Arsenal and was devastating. Now we play him as a winger and wonder why he is struggling badly.
Play him up front in an agressive team that plays in the front foot. There is still a lot of life in him.
He doesn't have the pace to play out wide but he's still a very aggressive hard working player with good instincts. Enough if him playing close to the halfway line.
Our refusal to even put Lukaku on the bench is doing my head in.

The problem was signing without a clear plan of how he was going to be used.

Yes that's wrong but that doesn't suddenly make him a bad player. He is a great weapon to have if used in a role that suits him.

I'd rather have Alexis Sanchez in my club than not. Just need to start using him properly.

Will Mourinho try him up top? He seems to be reluctant in doing so.

Sure fire way to win nothing in an ultra competitive league like the premier league. Cannot compare the expectations of United with an also ran team in a completely different league. Plus if we're going to be following Monaco into the relegation zone, I can't wait for the meltdown in here

Tbh we're probably closer to the relegation zone than we are to city now

That remains to be seen, he's been tried in a few positions with just a couple of games where he looked close to his level since he's been here. So far, there are no indication that he can be a great weapon and there are countless players who have started falling off a cliff form-wise before 30. It happens. I do agree though that without the gift of hindsight, going for him was a good idea. The problem was his integration and how it took away from players that were producing goals and assists in Martial and Rashford on that left wing when the right wing was the biggest issue and he should have been integrated to make that his own.

If you know anything about Sanchez it's that he has a lot of fight in him. The guy is like a terrier. If he sets his mind to something, he'll go after it and it'll take something major to stop him from trying.
I refuse to believe that he is giving up.

True. It was a bit similar to the Van Persie signing. Just that this one turned into fail.
