Alejandro Garnacho (out)

We shouldn’t be entertaining any offers of selling him in January, especially given we’re already looking at binning off Rashford. We’re light enough up front as it is.

I'd reluctantly sell for £60 million because it would allow us to sign 3/4 players more suited to Amorim's system without being punished by PSR.

This is the price the club has to pay for more than a decade of poor signings and contracts.

In what world are we signing 3 or 4 players with 60m?

We'd replace him this window if sold

From what I read from the PSR rules, selling Garnacho for £60 million would allow the club to spend three times that amount without getting any type of financial penalties because it's considered pure profit with him being a homegrown player.

That's what I mean. The club has money to spend but has to comply with PSR rules or face a points deduction or worse.

Yeah @Berbaclass said this. Where's it from?

It is basis simple mathematics. If we sell Garnacho for 60 million, it is added in our P&L as pure profit. If we sign a replacement for 60 million, we would be able to spread the 60 million across their contract (or a max of 3 years which was changed because of Chelsea's 8 year contracts) meaning it will reflect as 20 million for this season. Hence, a cool 40 million profit for PSR.

Edit: Transfer fee can be spread to a max of 5 years. So PSR profit can be 48 million.

Because you'd be able to spend more than £60m based on how this is going to be reflected in the accounts.

It would be £60m that hits the books this year in income (player sale) whereas you could stretch that money further for expenditure (player purchase) based on the way transfer fees are amortized over the length of the contract.

No we won’t,We will end up keeping Anthony.
We should not be selling both Rashford and Garnacho this winter as we can still salvage something from this season.
We are linked with Kolo Muani so I'd imagine we bring someone in.

That £38m is absolutely taking the piss.. we should be asking a minimum of 70m.

I remember when we went in for Koulibaly and they asked for 90m or something.

I rather keep Garnacho than sell him for anything under 50m.

If we have any real ambition of bringing in Gyokeres I wouldn't want us lumped with a low scoring guy who would have to make way for Gyokeres in six months time. It'd be a sheer waste of money.
Sure that's needed irrespective of Garnacho. But if he were to leave this winter I'm sure we can plug the gap of a 10 with a loan signing like Kolo Muani

Feels like we'll end up selling him for around £45 million.

I know I'm in a minority but I think that's a fair price based on what he's shown so far.

What is with this forums obsession with selling players, as if we're stacked with quality in these areas.

Only in the cups though. The league is a write off. We aren't finishing above any of Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Newcastle and probably Forest. 7th is the best we can hope for and that's being optimistic.

I read Liverpool have been offered 80m for feckin Nunez - we are offered 38m for a footballer! This makes no sense.
There should be no scenario where we sell him for such an offer. It's insulting!

Really want garnacho to stay, especially if we are getting 38 fecking million for him. Absolute peanuts

What was it other clubs say - "a derisory offer"? If Napoli were selling him, they'd demand £80 million or something like that.

Nah, feck Italian clubs, man.
I remember when they were quoting us in excess of £100m for Koulibaly, then needed up with their tails between their legs when no one bit and they sold him to Chelsea for half that amount.

I thought it was a max of 5 years?

That was peak inflation to be fair.

That being said they have cash so we should squeeze them. Conte has Napoli sitting pretty in 1st place so if he throws a hissy fit about needing Garnacho then they might flex.

Really hope we don't sell him. If the situation was reversed, they would ask for 75m. We should be getting rid of Eriksen, Casemiro, Rashford, Malacia, Lindelof etc.
