Alejandro Garnacho appreciation thread

The intense bashing of him is beyond stupid. Of course I get the critique game to game but many on here took it way too far. Amazingly shortsighted.
And, as others have noted, the excessive and vicious ‘critique’ has clearly got to this talented young guy, as witnessed by his awkward celebration the other day. A bit of appreciation provides a useful balance in that context.

He has improved and will continue to improve. One of my favorite players. But if you are reading redcafe Garnacho and see some negative posts, do bear in mind we are a fickle bunch and we whine about all players from time to time. But we love you and support you because you are our player. Criticism now and then is normal and is par for the course on the internet.

For all the stick he receives at least he can score. How many goals does Rashford have, or Zirkzee, or Hojlund?

Breaking news: United Forum for discussion has both positive and negative comments.

Swear some of you lot would rather have this place turn into RAWK where every negative comment is deleted and nothing but propaganda is trumpeted
It often goes way too far the other way though, with people constantly slating and moaning to the extent that I wonder why they bother 'supporting' Utd, or even watching football for that matter.

On a supporters forum their should be balance of course, but reading posts from people blindly supporting/defending a failing manager with no valid reason for example, or moaning about every win where we haven't had 100% possession and scored 5 or 6 goals is pretty draining to be honest.

I don't blame people for creating threads where they can actually read a majority of positive posts from like-minded fans.

He always has an edge, a second of brilliance, which can make a difference.

Hasn't he already played over 100 games for the club as well?...kid has a similar engine to Bruno, which can go unnoticed or take for granted.

Love the idea of a thread btw @Tony247
Gracias. Felt sad after seeing his reaction. Don't want to break young players. Lesson for me too. I too need to tone down my criticism.

He has the hunger most United players have lacked for the past decade. He idolises Ronaldo on every level so hopefully the coaches can challenge him on that. We need players with world class determination.

Can see Amorim turning him into an absolute beast.

Question is will he be played as one of the front 3 or as one of the wingbacks. Amorim likes very attack minded wingbacks.

I honestly think he's given extra shit because of how he looks rather than how he behaves/plays.

Yes he can be frustrating but he's 20. The scope for development is huge and he's already at a very high level and doing well despite the spotlight and criticism.

I've got no problem with a Player Appreciation Thread in a week when said young player was criticized by whoever this attention seeking Faz dude is. What gives him the right to call out the player like that? I hate to see the racist comments he's received in reply but I am glad he's taken flack for it. Pass better indeed. Alright Messi lad. How about report better?

I do think that Garnacho needs to develop a thicker skin though. Haters gonna hate.

Im sorry he didnt celebrate that banger of a goal. I hope he indeed stops paying attention to toxic social media and can enjoy his career which looks to be very exciting in the future

Hard to not pay attention when these cnuts give their ”opinions” face to face when he’s signing autographs and taking photos with fans.

He is a 20 year old player, he is still quite young. This is his 2nd full season.. ofcourse it will impact him.

What people dont realise, its not like someone said this after he's had a bad day, this is before a match, where as a fan you are meant to hype up the players so they have a good game.

Instead we have our own fans, who are going into areas where fans get to see a glimpse of their favourite players, a chance for an autograph... then you get idiots like Faz who are there to criticise players.

No thought about the kids who want to get autographs. When a footballer doesn't integrate with the fans they will moan he has an ego..

If that's what affects his game then I worry. Alongside Madrid, we're the most scrutinised club in world football. Or are we really going to give YouTubers that level of importance

Exactly. Couldn’t have put it better myself.

Do you think Garnacho knows who it is? Who this Faz fella is?

He is signing autographs before a game, instead of encouragement you hear people saying improve your first touch, make sure you pass. Its not like its a 12 year old kid saying this, he is a grown man.

Garnacho is 20 who is in his 2nd year of football, younger people seek greater validation, which is why it impacts him. Ofcourse he will learn from this, but you cannot say to a 20 year old, you should be used to this.

Do people understand footballers are not robots and are actual humans? Different people get affected differently.

Would you rather the players ignore fans and not give them the time and day? Treat ever fan as a youtuber as they cant tell who is who.

I love this lad he is young and has more to learn to move to the next level, and when he does he will be amazing.

Think he recent performances highlighted his poor decision making, which stops him from going up another level as a player.

That said he is an extremely talented player who at 20 years of age should only improve going forward, his defensive work has generally been a lot better this season.

He is an exiciting young player no doubt about it, but if Ruben is going to play 343 then where does he fit in? Same as Rashford really. It wouldn’t surprise me if they ain’t sold in the summer and fund the rebuild.

Re appreciation threads for current players?
Generally no imo. The player performance forum is for that. However in the case of Bruno, imo justified it's own thread and was created for obvious reasons. In before the lock!

The arbiter of redcafe threads has spoken, shut it down folks.

I kind of suggested that he was wasteful in the past 2-3 games, and he needed a 'pit stop'. I love having Nacho as part of the team, and i half suspect he's gonna go on to become an amazing player.

Not necessarily a world beater day in day out in the Messi - CR7 level, but one that is indispensable to a club of our size.
Still, i do believe he could have passed more, controlled the play a bit better and helped the team more the past month. He didnt. Suggesting a quick reality check isn't a reflection on not believing in him. It's quite the opposite.

Who on earth is this Faz guy?

What was going on on Sunday? Didn't celebrate his goal and seemingly in deep conversation with Bruno at the end?

I honestly think they should try him at no.9. His pace and directness would worry defences and take some of the responsibility of poor Rasmus who rarely gets a decent ball in to him

Alejandro took a lot of heat on the matchday thread until he scored, after which praise was showered on him.

He's a great young player, sometimes frustrating us and sometimes astonishing us. I see him starting for us for quite some time, at least until Real or Barcelona issue a statement to the contrary.

Amorim is gonna love him
I hope so! But I'm not too sure as to where Amorim will play him - from what little I've seen so far Nacho is different to the usual players in Sportings attack. Wing back? Perhaps, a little of a waste but he's got the engine for it.

Really like him. Don't care about him passing or not passing. Proper player. Puts a shift in, shouldn't pay attention to what some people criticize him for. If he's not doing it, no one else is. Can't blame the boy for trying.

He’s not called Goatnacho in my house for nothing. The lad is gonna be special if he keeps it up. Only 20 so I can forgive a fair bit of waywardness, give him a few seasons to mature and he will tear it up

Anyone know his contract status?

I hope he continues to improve. Right now it seems there is a ceiling for him and I hope I'm wrong. That ceiling is I don't think he'll ever be consistent starter for Argentina. We'll see.

Absolutely gets you more than 12 goals in 11 PL games, 19-22 year olds can be gradually phased into team and not loaded pressure on to them because senior players are hiding, for the record Wellbeck’s got one less PL goal with 6 PL goals than all our 6 striking options have combined, and Mbeumo has 1 PL goal more?

Viva Garnacho! His determination and drive is fantastic, the Fenerbache game was a brilliant example. He hardly had any joy down the left but but kept going and going and never gave up.

He has good ability and a great mindset
