Alan Dzagoev

He played a lot better and had more influence on the game once he came inside more. Hell of a pass on him.

Yeah he's a Chelsea fan, as most Russians are. Roman would probably pounce at some point.

Because we can't be interested in every player on the planet. We aren't City after all.

He's young, he's talented, he can play in CM, he's hardworking and he's affordable (no fees involved). These are the sort of deals United tend to be attracted to. Its not as if Im saying that we should bring Iniesta to OT am I?

I read in an article that he secretly signed a one year extension which means he is under contract till next December!

He would still leave on cheap though. Maybe a straight swap deal with Berba is possible (difficult to see it materialize though)

We've been linked with him for over a year now, it's only after this tournament anyone cares.

Devilish, you seem to think that we should be after anybody and everybody. It could have been any other players thread bumped here and you'd have asked 'why aren't we interested?'.

Why do you think we should be interested? Because of his age and length of contract? He wasn't anything special at the Euro's and I wouldn't say he's a talent that we shouldn't be missing out on.

I think that's a pretty unfair assessment considered I rarely mention impossible buys these days.

Dzagoev is young, talented, cheap, a decent scorer and plays in a position we need strengthening in. I also disagree with your assessment regarding his Euro's performance. His assist rate (3) placed him at par with Gerrard (who haven't scored any goals) and 1 more then Pirlo (who scored 2 goals compared to Dzagoev three goals). The latter players played more games and in better teams.

I heard that his contract would be pretty expensive. So much so that it wouldn't really be worth it with such a young player who's still learning.

He plays the exact same role as Kagawa. What would be the point of getting him? We're still going to play two strikers in the majority of games, signing two attacking midfielders makes no sense.

He does play the same role as Kagawa but is not as good. He'll either move to a big club with a realistic risk of becoming a bench warmer or sign a new deal at CSKA. I don't think teams that should suit him best in the big leagues - the likes of Newcastle, Napoli or Atletico - will want to match wages that CSKA will offer him.
