Film Al Pacino Vs Robert De Niro

I've seen most of De Niro's notable films but there's a few Al Pacino ones I haven't seen, such as Dog Day Afternoon and Glengarry Glen Ross. I need to watch Scent of a Woman again too because I saw it when I was younger and don't remember much about it.

It would be difficult for those films to sway me away from De Niro though. Both fantastic actors but I think that De Niro is another level. I've never seen anything else like Raging Bull. He's had so many great performances.

Glengarry Glen Ross is awesome. Get that watched asap dude :)

Two absolute giants.

Serpico, Scent of a Woman vs. Awakenings or Cape Fear

Come on, you cannot say who is better.

Watching Raging Bull right now and I really don’t think Pacino has produced anything close to it. De Niro just brings you deeper into a character’s psyche. Maybe it’s like the Dostoevsky v Tolstoy/ Sopranos v The Wire arguments.

I swear most people posting in here haven't seen Pacino's 70s body of work. There is so much nonsense being posted, it's just not possible otherwise.

They are the same. Both legendary performances in the greatest films ever made, then absolutely dreadful performances in total pieces of shit.

Without any doubt De Niro. Far more screen presence and the better actor.

Noticed when De Niro smiles at someone you don‘t know if he’s going to shake his hand or kill him.

Flip of a coin this one, part of me remembers Raging Bull so i lean to DeNiro and then i remember Dog day afternoon and swing back to Al.

You have Dog day afternoon, Scarface, Serpico, Godfather 1 & 2, Donnie Brasco, Scent of a woman, any given Sunday, Insomnia, Carlito's way vs Raging bull, Godfather 2, Once upon a time, Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi driver, cape fear, awakenings, The untouchables. Also both were unbelievable in Heat.

don’t you think a better actor would be able to make that clear to the audience?

The point being he doesn’t need to broadcast what he’s going to do ….outstanding actor

I prefer Pacino but they are two of the greatest actors in history so not an insult to De Niro by any means.

For my taste i just feel Pacino especially really on had more varied memorable roles.

Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico and my own favourite Scarecrow just put him above for me.

De Niro may have gotten an Oscar for The Godfather 2 where he was amazing but again Pacino's Michael Corleone is one of the best performances ever.

We are lucky we had two great actors like them.

You haven't seen enough of De Niro then. Because the exact opposite is true. You know exactly if De Niro gives you the smile of death or just regular smile.

Great shout. Again two absolute legends, Hackman and Al.

Or Chinese Coffee, a less known movie where Pacino and Jerry Orbach try to outclass each other in acting. World class acting.

Pacino is living off of three or four great performances but most of his filmography is pretty average really. De Niro is well clear of him for sheer consistency.

This is so inaccurate it's sad. Just because you clearly haven't see enough of Pacino's work.

"3 or 4 great performances", give your head a wobble

There are at least a dozen Al Pacino movies, where he deserved an academy award in a lead role or supporting one. In fact it is a travesty he only got one.

It might be interesting to ask who has the worse film out of the two ?

Dirty Grandpa Vs Jack & Jill

Nothing can beat Jack and Jill :D
For De Niro, I would choose Freelancers.

Strange to think they both played Satan too.

Another great Pacino film for me often underrated is And Justice for All
