Agger to leave the dippers?

Sorry you misunderstood. I've heard the stories and they're bollocks. Hope this helps.

Oh, and Liverpool aren't trying to offload as has been very clearly stated in the last week. There is a big difference between the club trying to sell and his agent checking out his options off his own back.

Glad to have been of some assistance. ;)
;)

Like I said, I find it hard to believe a club is knowingly fielding a player who, according to the the rules, should be banned, but I still believe what I've been told.

Anyway, why do reckon Agger hasn't really been getting games? Skrtel and Carragher seems to be the established partnership at the minute, and Hyypia is often selected against sides who tend to pump it high into the box, where his aerial ability comes in handy. Where does this leave Agger?

He's got the ability to bring the ball out and play a bit, which at times you could really do with, and even though he's not yet at the level he was pre-injury, he should surely be getting a few more games. I'd be looking to leave if I was him, he's good enough to start for most teams.

Would be madness if Liverpool allow it, though. Hyypia is on his last legs, and Carragher's getting on a bit as well. If you sell him now, you're just gonna have to replace him in the near future, for more money, and probably with a less talented player.

Trying to change the subject? How on earth is that changing the subject? They're perfectly linked.

The Agger rumour has been doing the rounds for about 2 years and this rumour was born on internet fora. Granted, I probably shouldn't have said categorically that it is bollocks as I obviously have no idea what he does in his private life, but it is a rumour which has absolutely no foundation and should be treated as such.

I mentioned Rio as the perfect example. THere have been rumours doign the rounds for years that he is a druggie, probably stemming from the fact he continually missed his drugs test. Most United fans would state categorically that he is clean whereas like me you have no idea what he does in his private life.

I'm pretty sure both these players would have been caught by now if there was any base to these rumours.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Rio did dabble with coke, I certainly never believed that whole "I was busy shopping" bullshit as an excuse for missing his tests. But he was publicly disciplined for it. In Agger's case obviously it was just rumor - but they did start at a time when he went missing and the stories to explain it were somewhat... flimsy. In addition Rafa went from clearly being a huge fan of the lad, to suddenly rating him behind Hyppia, who had been close to being shoved out the door. So whether it's the white, or something else, it did always seem credible that Agger had some serious issues behind the scenes that were disrupting his place in Rafa's plans.

All of that said - he looks a quality player, has a hell of a shot on him, and could form a great partnership with Skrtel once Carragher retires, and unless there is a serious issue off the pitch, Liverpool would be mad to let him go.

Ha ha. I remember sutty saying Agger was better than Vidic.

Vidic, thanks very much.

To respond to you both, you are absolutely right. Agger and Skrtel could be a fantastic partnership for the next ten years. A natural right footer and a natural left footer. A ball player and a cruncher (although that's prob doing Skrtel a disservice). It's also being hard on Carra who still has 4 or 5 years left in him yet.

Agger was injured for a year and in that time Skrtel came in a formed a good relationship with Carra. It is only right that he then has to force his way back into the team. Then when Skrtel gets injured Agger steps in and obviously takes a bit of time to find match fitness and sharpness. Hyypia comes in for the odd game to give Agger a rest and in all honestly plays a blinder and has done so every time he has been called upon. I think even he is surprised how many games he's got this season.

Then Skrtel recovers and makes his way back just as Agger picks up a calf strain, which is why he has missed the last couple of games and possibel the game tonight.

Liverpool have not sold a player in recent years where I have been disappointed to see them go - I was disappointed to see Owen and Macca leave but that was their decision not the clubs - but I will be gutted if Liverpool sell Agger and will be VERY surprised if we do.

Mentioned it before but i can't believe SAF, or another top EPL team hasn't let it be known they are interested in.

"a contact at manchester united leaked that SAF rates agger highly, and is considering a bid for the out of favour liverpool ch etc"

Agger wasn't even on the bench for the dippers tonight. Could be a sign that he's on the way out....or is he injured?

Apparently Napoli are in for him on loan. Barrett and the Guardian reporting it so must be some truth in it. I love Rafa, but he can feck well off.

Why would Liverpool allow this to happen? Stupid story imo.

Either sell him or keep him surely.

Weird story. Skrtel/Agger/Sakho/Toure is a good collective four to have to choose from and letting Agger leave would mean Coates could end up playing which would be like when City had to play Savic or Garcia.

Like I said, Tony is usually spot on with most of his Liverpool related stuff. It'd be another Reina, this one being worse. Agger is quality and though he's been out of form for a bit, we shouldn't sell if we have aspirations of getting into Europe. CB is the one area we are set in, we shouldn't deplete it.

Coates is a talented player, but he wouldn't play. It'd be Ilori. Coates is also injured and is off in the summer.

Totally forgot you had Ilori too. I don't see it with Coates, he's been awful whenever i have seen him.

I miss this guy

I'm not saying you should move him on at all, but to loan him would just seem mental.

Only playing 1 match a season doesn't help. He'll move on and he'll be a very good player for another team. That's life with defenders, unless they're a special talent it's hard to bed them in.

Aye, which is why Savic seemed to up his game a bit when moving to Fiorentina.

After so many years they both spend at Liverpool, they finally decided at the end of last season that Skrtel is shit and wanted to sell him, but just after few months in new season they changed their mind, and decided that Skrtel is actually better CB than their vice captain is, so they benched Agger and made Skrtel their number 1 CB. Really weird.

If this is true, Benitez just can't seem to move on from Liverpool. Come on Rafa, it's like the Sopranos, it's over. Find a new show.

Or like when Liverpool had to play Coates or Carragher
