Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is set for a move to AC Milan if reports in Denmark are to be believed.

Agger: Has failed to win back his place at Anfield.
The Danish international defender has failed to recover his first-team place after missing the entire 2007-8 season with a foot injury. Agger has been reportedly unhappy with the lack of opportunities and the lack of a new contract.

Despite injury to Martin Skrtel, Agger has made just nine appearances for Liverpool.

The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that his representative Per Steffensen met San Siro sporting director Ariedo Braida and Italian agent Rino Foschi for lunch in Milan this week.

Danish website Tipsbladet says that the Rossoneri wanted the defender, who starred for the Reds in their run to the 2007 Champions League Final they lost to Milan, as a replacement for Alessandro Nesta, on whom injuries have taken their toll.

Tipsbladet reports that a fee of 60 million kroner, around £7.5m, has been agreed.

Roughly 7% of what they get for Kaka. Rebuilding starts here.

yeah agger is a good player with loads of potential, if he goes to AC then it could turn him into a world class player.

I dont rate him as much as some do. Hes not that great an actual defender. What I dont understand though is how Milner can be worth £12M and Agger £8M.

The man writing the Danish article and creating the rumour of the day is worse than a Sun journalist.

I would luuuuuve if it happened though.

I think Agger is the best center back at Liverpool. I don't care how many of their fans phone Sky Sports News poll to give him the Defender of the year award, I still think he is vastly over rated. Hyypia has been past it for a season or 2 and Skertel just lacks composure to me.

He'd be a decent buy for AC Milan. So does this start the revoloution at AC thanks to money from Kaka?

Will the Dippers still have the best defense in the world then?

Why aren't City taking an interest, they sure need him more than fecking Kaka.

Very true their center back pairing of Richards and Dunne has looked very fragile. I think Richards needs shifting back to Right Back.

Why isnt Kompany back there? Isnt he a centre back?

He is being utilized as a defensive midfielder I believe, although he has player center back before. City as we all know where after Parker to be his Center Midfield partner.

On Agger, I'd be surprised if Milan are the only club to come in for him.

I heard that Agger is a bit too fond of the 'white lines' and that is why Rafa wants rid - dont you love unsubstantiated internet rumour?

In a footballing sense, yes, maybe. But in the big scheme of things Kaka would put them on the map, Robinho is an excellent player teetering on the edge of world class, but Kaka is a one year removed World Player of the Year and Ballon D'Or to get him would surely mean so much, it would show great pulling power and that they are willing to spend beyond comprehension, not to mention he is the far better player.

Plus Kaka will be a magnet for other top players..'If Kaka signed for them then they must be a club going places...' etc etc. Remember once Chelsea would have been almost unheard of on the continent

Aye, him and Rio are best buddies. :nono:

My tuppence worth is that I will be very disappointed if we sell Agger. He and Skrtel are a possible partnership for the next 10 years. A right footer and a left footer. Jamie isn't getting any younger.

If there are problems behind the scenes and he really wants to go for whatever reason then I will understand. HOWEVER, if we sell him for £7m I will be more livid than a fecking cut snake.

For the record I'm pretty sure he will sign a new contract if Waldorff and Stadler stump up the deserved cash. £70k a week for a defender of Agger's calibre is not too much to ask for.

and will again be so in about 4 or 5 years........

To be honest when i have watched the kid he looks class, and think he'd be worth a punt by SAF.
Gte right up that spanish twats nose

Word on the grapevine is that Agger's a massive cokefiend.

Makes sense, because Liverpool would be stupid to sell otherwise.

The centre of their defence is sorted for years if he sticks around - him and Skrtel make a solid and very balanced partnership.

Word on the grapevine or massive stupid internet rumour started by mancs or toffees?

The rest of your post is spot on though.

I dunno, this may sound like one of those "my mate's cousin knows so and so..." stories but my ex-next door neighbour is a doctor (and a Liverpool fan too) and occasionally works with physios at Liverpool. Can't really clarify exactly what it is he does, mind, because I don't really know...

But anyway, according to him, these rumours are more than credible. Liverpool have been looking to offload Agger for a few months now, apparently.

I find it hard to believe that he hasn't been drug-tested and suspended if it's genuinely true, but I have no real reason to doubt what I've been told.

Don't really care if you believe me or not tbh, but I can't help wondering why Liverpool would even consider selling him on the cheap (assuming the Agger to Milan story has any substance at all) unless there was good reason for it.

Ohh, cokefiend... thought you said something else :nervous:

Sorry you misunderstood. I've heard the stories and they're bollocks. Hope this helps.

Oh, and Liverpool aren't trying to offload as has been very clearly stated in the last week. There is a big difference between the club trying to sell and his agent checking out his options off his own back.

Glad to have been of some assistance. ;)

Playing Devil's advocate - how exactly do you know that? Obviously the rumors are tenuous - but they've also been very persistent and came at a time when there were other rumors about a Liverpool player missing a drug's test, and falling out massively with Rafa.
Could well be complete bollocks, but why are you so sure?

Are you sure Rio's not a drug cheat?

Are you sure Rio's not a drug cheat?

No, we're not. He missed a drugs test and has been punished for it.

Are you sure you're not trying to change the subject because someone has challenged you about the shite you're spouting?

Trying to change the subject? How on earth is that changing the subject? They're perfectly linked.

The Agger rumour has been doing the rounds for about 2 years and this rumour was born on internet fora. Granted, I probably shouldn't have said categorically that it is bollocks as I obviously have no idea what he does in his private life, but it is a rumour which has absolutely no foundation and should be treated as such.

I mentioned Rio as the perfect example. THere have been rumours doign the rounds for years that he is a druggie, probably stemming from the fact he continually missed his drugs test. Most United fans would state categorically that he is clean whereas like me you have no idea what he does in his private life.

I'm pretty sure both these players would have been caught by now if there was any base to these rumours.
