Afonso Alves

Steady on. First season in the Premiership is always difficult for new players unless you go to an environment you are familiar in.

Well he was doing something that Boro needed earlier in the season, he was creating chances for himself. He has a great goals record, so I'm sure once he gets one goals he'll start scoring more.

He's playing for Boro in fairness

Doesn't matter, you don't miss an open goal like that especially when you're a full Brazilian international.

Let this be a lesson to us all, scoring goals in Holland does not mean you are a good player.

By all accounts he came on and changed the game today, Chelsea lucky to win the game in the end

No suprise it takes some players a while to adapt to the English game. Could have written off Evra and Vidic just as quickly. Look at them now. Alves looks to have the attributes to me, won't find it as easy as Holland, but can see him scoring 15 for Boro next season

A lot of people did. After Evra's first derby, people wanted him gone sharpish.

I take it you haven't seen many Boro games recently, the bloke is already showing signs off class, is very pacy and can deliver some decent crosses in the box, give him a bit more time to adapt and he will be a quality player

Think Tevez needed about 30 games to get where he is now

I'd like to thank West Ham for getting him warmed up for us.

Really? Weren't Vidic and Evra signed during the January window and were dubbed "flops" after a few games? It took them until the new season to really get going and show their talents. Lets judge this Alves dude next season.

was unlucky today with Chelsea. 2-3 decent chances to put them away and twice hit the woodwork.. 2 inches difference and he would have had 2 goals and would have gotten a couple of champagne bottles from Fergie.

You can still tell Huntelaar is a class above Kezman, Kuyt and Alves though. The technique of his finishing is very, very good and technique is something Kezman, Kuyt and to Alves do without.

Huntelaar still wouldnt be my first choice though. He's not a player who can drift out onto the wing and allow Ronaldo to play through the mddle like Tevez does and anything that restricts Ronaldo is not the way to go.

This could turn out worse than my thread yesterday...

Right, because our South American international has never missed an easy chance. Give him time FFS. He's had quite an interesting career, I hope he does well here. Just not next Sunday, of course.

I'd love it if he scored a few against you lot next week.

LOVE IT!

:D

shut up, he won't, oh you certainly don't deserve to win the title with your boring style of play and riding on your lucky escape today.
