What a brilliant performance last night. This kid looks the real deal and it looks like he's now truly established himself in that PSG midfield.

It looked like Arsenal were close to signing him on a free a-few seasons back, so glad that didn't happen. Also delighted City didn't hang onto him as a youngster.

Did he not make the France squad for last years Euro's?

Looks a class act. He's almost as tall as Fellaini, only 21 years old and pretty nimble actually. I'd rather take Verratti though, but I think he can become a great player.

French NT coaches - like Deschamps or Blanc in the past - think players under 20 are not ready to participate in major tournaments.

That is why, Ousmane Dembélé & Rabiot weren't part of the Euro 2016.

Of course, Cabaye was the welcome at the Euro despite the fact that Cabaye and Rabiot played together in 2014/15 and everybody knows the latter is better and played more games.

Absolutely fantastic performance. Always knew he was a decent player but boy did he stand out last night! Really enjoyed watching him. So good at reading the game and snuffing out danger. He wasn't phased by the occasion or the quality of opposition and was so composed on the ball. Excellent player who I'll definitely be watching out for a lot more now

Ah ok. Thought he may have had an injury or the like. Seems crazy a player of his talents couldn't even make the squad.

La Gazetta compares him to Marco Tardelli. Flattering compliment.

Straight swap over the summer seems fair. Fellaini's got height, experience and hair on his side. Rabiot is younger and better at football but that's about it.

4-0 trashing of Barca and LA Gazetta gives lots of 7.5s. Talking about high standards:lol:

Rabiot looked very tidy last night in that midfield I have to admit.

I think it was last season against City when he had a terrible game and I was wondering what the hype was about. Great game last night though.

Outstanding game. Easily MOTM for me despite the way Draxler and Di Maria played.

As I watched him last night I couldn't stop thinking about our dear Fellaini. Ruined it for me.

They only had a couple of 10 ratings in their history (since 1973) - Baggio got one, and a keeper who saved his teammate's life after he had a heart attack on the pitch.
Highest average career rating (Totti) is 6,45, highest season average is 6,94 (Platini), so you get the general idea

Cheers interesting to know. Actually a better way to rate players compared to the newspapers who throw out 9 and 10s for every half good performance.

Does anyone have a gif of him nutmeg Messi with a back heel pass right after he nicked the ball from him? That maybe the moment that changes his career forever

I know, its like when you dig your best friends sister, if you bang her you cant do it with out thinking of your buddy all the way thru. Thats also how i felt yesterday. :(

Ps. Motm for me yesterday, di maria and draxler a close second tie

Voting in Italy works more or less like this:
-4: complete rubbish
-4.5: rubbish
-5: bad
-5.5: not good enough
-6: good
-6.5: very good
-7: great
7.5: more tham great
-8: phenomenal

Anything less than 4 is classified as "crime against humanity, anything more than 8 as "God-Mode"

Ah, not as glorious as I remembered seeing it, revisionism at work. I have to admit I didn't like the look of the lad a year ago and never watched him play since. Playing style alone what kind of player is he?

He's a complete central midfielder (defensive midfielder or box-to-box) with good technical skills, a great vision and excellent passing skills.

He's 21 years old: more than 130 games at the high level. Champions League: 3 goals in 22 games.

Below his 1st cap with France and Pogba on the pitch

quite good actually. It is kind of like how some guys rate girls. If you get an 8 congrats. 10's are like make belief celebrity model types that don't exist in the realms of man

Whatever floats your boat Dr Freud.

I've noticed that City aren't getting the shitstorm that was thrown at us when Pogba showed his class when he joined Juve.

Didn't know much about him before the game, but thought he was superb all evening. Pretty much as complete a performance as I've seen from a midfielder in a long time.

Not really that similar. He was a very young kid when he was at City. Pogba went to Juve and broke straight into their first team when he really should have gotten chances with us and been tied down to a new deal.

Would it be fair to say he's abit like Redondo in terms of style?

Thiago Motta has been a great player for PSG and it is a bit ridiculous they have a player so similar to him in their team already. He has potential to be even better.

This, I had a feeling of similarity watching him but couldn't really tell who he resembles. I thought he is already better than a young Motta at certain aspect of his game such as his ball carrying ability as well as his techniques.

Adrien Rabiot in no hurry to talk about a PSG contract extension

Speaking in an interview with Le Figaro, PSG central midfielder Adrien Rabiot claimed that he was in no hurry to sign a contract extension.

“Very honestly, I do not want to think about that. I am under contract until 2019, it is not urgent. I would prefer to stay concentrated on football. We will have to talk about this again at the end of the season. The club is aware. They are trying to protect themselves, extend as many players as possible and I understand that. I know that they are counting on me a lot, that I am one of the young players that could form the core for the future.”

Thiago Motta is a product of La Masia: like Busquets, his job is to make the 2 other central midfielders shine. Slow player, aggressive player when necessary, but fantastic passing skills.

Adrien Rabiot considers himself better as a #8 despite the fact he was sometimes a #6 when he was younger.

Nope. Verratti is abit like Redondo. Rabiot is more of a classic box-to-box, good at everything, not really great at dictating the play but with great acceleration and ability to break the lines with his acceleration and dribbling

Yesterday was a masterclass from Rabiot. Every attack in his vicinity seemed to just fizzle out or falter. I hadn't realised till yesterday that he was so sound in defence as well.
He might not be able to dictate games (yet) like Carrick does but definitely has the tools to replace Carrick. Against Barca he seemed like a better ball playing/carrying version of Matic.
