Manchester United are checking on Paris St Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The 19-year-old is interested in leaving Paris as he is keen to play more games.Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all monitored his progress in recent months but United have also added him to their list of potential summer signings.

Louis van Gaal has been linked with several midfield generals as he looks to rebuild a struggling side.Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini underperformed last season, while Darren Fletcher was recovering from a serious illness.Despite this, it is believes Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas are not on the Dutchman's wishlist.

The interest is probably not credible, but I believe he would be a great addition for United. He has the potential to make something for himself in the future.

That limit on frizzy haired players that UEFA imposed as part of the FFP settlement is going to hurt them. One in one out.

this clip shows lack of end product, but people who watch tell me he looks good, so I'll go with them..

A very good talent. Arsenal seem to be at the front of the line though. Still very raw but I would be willing to take a gamble on him.

What is with the on-screen annotations? "Simple pass... Sprints into box." Wouldn't have seen that, otherwise.

I am not going to say who he looks like. Nope, I am not going to say... Sod it all. Fellaini, is that you?

I hope he doesn't come to the EPL.

He's got one of those names where I know I'm going to spend the entire evening doing a frog impression after I watch a game he's played in.

It's why I currently avoid watching Fulham and "moves like Dejagah". Well, that and the fact they're shit.

Shouldn't we be going for someone a little more established than Rabiot, perhaps someone like Maxime Gonalons from OL?

Pretty basic way of looking at it. Was Ronaldo established? Not comparing him to Ronaldo but if the manager thinks he will develop into what he wants, it doesn't matter what reputation he currently has.

Never seen him before. Either that's a terrible video or he's a completely nothing player. A couple of unchallenged sideways passes and a few attempts at more decisive contributions which he messes up.

Some of the people rating this young player have called Daley Blind far below our level. Needless to say, my view is the inversion of theirs.

Extreme example to prove a point? Rabiot has not looked as good as Ronaldo did before he joined us. It could be argued that Gonalons is a better player (or will be) than Rabiot ever has the chance of becoming.

"Some pretty good guy we saw on Youtube is looking for a move. All the big Premier League clubs are interested."

Same story every day and the never actually happen.

Would be a pointless signing. If we want to give youth midfielders a chance we may as well work from within the club.

A pointless signing? He is younger than Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell and has 55 senior appearances while they have none. I rate our two boys very highly but Rabiot is rated by many as one of the best coming through in Europe. Signing any hotly tipped young prospect like Rabiot is hardly pointless.

It is pointless if he doesn't seem like he'll improve our midfield now or later.

I don't think it's a smart move for him to transfer to Arsenal/United. He clearly is not yet ready for a big stage. He would not get much more playing time in any top club, if he wants to stay in CL, he might want to consider Benfica or similar clubs, if he wants to play in a strong league i think Europa League clubs is his level.
He is a nice player but way too raw and unrefined.

Bags of potential but is he what we really need right now..? I dont think there is much to his game that will be beneficial to us at present...but with youngsters there is always room for massive improvements..
Unlikely Paris will entertain the idea of selling him...

And what are you basing this off? A 3 minute video of him at 17 in a senior match? So he made a few mistakes there but do you think Pearson or Rothwell would have played blinders if we threw them in at 17? No. PSG fans rate him very highly and don't want to lose him (like a certain French midfielder we once had). He is very physically advanced for his age and is great at getting around the pitch. He is very combative which is something we massively lack right now. It seems to me like he would definitely improve our midfield now and even more later. It is why big clubs are in for him including Juventus and we'll all be gutted if they pick him up for cheap and reap his potential.

Last year of his contract. It is either sell him or lose him for free at the end of next season.

Yes but why rule out unproven players simply because there are more established players out there? All these players have to be considered regardless of what they look like now.

Its not as if they are desperately in need of the money... He is highly thought of at his club and the likeliest scenario will be the club announcing an extension of his contract...

He looks like a promising player. His strengths involve good defensive awareness, good ball-winning ability, a good passing range, a decent vision to spot teammates, and the ability to maintain the team's possession.

However, he still looks raw and isn't yet ready to be a regular first-team player playing in pressure situations. If we were to get him, it would be for a view to the future by blooding him in a manner similar to PSG, this season.

Given that we need instant midfield improvements, he's not one we should go for. I'd rather we get established players and then blood in Pearson and Rothwell when necessary.

They don't need the money so they could keep him for the extra year. They can think highly of him but if he doesn't get a starting spot which he wants then he could easily leave on a free. They have a good list of midfielders and who knows who they'll sign so I don't see them guaranteeing him playing time. Like Pogba if a club like Juventus are going to guarantee the playing time then why wouldn't he move? I've read he has advisers, his parents I think, who want him to be paid more too and they may actually prefer to just run down his contract to get the big signing on bonus. He has also already refused to sign a new contract. So unless they stump up a bigger deal and guarantee a bigger role in the side then I can't see an extension.

The issue for him is playing time, PSG already offered him like 60-80k a week, and i think it was mentioned in pounds, not euros. So almost a 100,000 eruos. And you can understand them, he is home grown and club trained. And with UEFA squad restrictions, these people are gold for PSG. Yet they bought Cabaye, and they want Pogba, it's not a secret. Obviously Rabiot has a lot to consider. I think he will leave, like Sakho had. But i am not sure he needs to go to another top club though.

@limerickcitykid
I get your point..but he is already a regular and it seems to be his camp trying to force the club into some action... I won't put it past a young lad concerned with his progression to lay much emphasis on game time and such offer coming from a top club might not be ignored...
If memory serves me right, can remember the club saying players like him are the future of the club.. Considering how highly thought of he is, the chances are he'll get the assurances and his pay demand will most likely be met.

Just keep in mind, that Sakho, who is now at Liverpool was a Paris-born, a "real" PSG academy product, i mean all PSG. He was a club captain, idol of fans. He also was a French national player actually. Yet he was sold.

Don't you think the circumstances are slightly different..? Am not saying Paris might not let him go but the chances are very slim... At this point the lad is more of an asset to them than Sakho was at the time of his transfer.

I think Sakho was more of asset to PSG actually. I think money knows no reason, so it's pretty much depends on how gullible is Rabiot. I can tell you that PSG will make more signings in central midfield area. So if the guy really wants to play, he will go.

Sakho was rumoured to leave fir years but stayed because of loyalty and when the time arrived, the club had already catered for his departure... Whilst with this lads and others, due to some of the Fair Play issues he seems to have a bit on them...
For footballing reason moving on won't be a bad idea but he is already a regular..cant really understand the argument of lacking game time.. Maybe he just wants some assurance considering PSG are linked with every cat capable of fashioning a bicycle kick.

Sakho really loved PSG and wanted to stay there for the rest of his career but they treated him like shit.
