Just announce officially then can lock thread
Think it might be best for him to stay at Juve and build on the good season he just had.
He is one of those players I like but believe they should not leave their current club.
Yeah does suggest our slowness has cost us this transfer and no excuse when he was free
We will be back with a £300k a week offerSaw some tweet on an aggregator suggesting he turned down £200k a week offer from us
Yeah we might offer a higher base salary but if he's at United and we get Mount, he can very easily find himself being a squad option. That won't be good for his chances at the Euros, he may even get more money playing every week for Juve too.If he was to come here would he be happy being a squad player?
And if not would we be happy with him as the starting 8?
Most reports say we are looking at two midfielders, interested to see who our second midfielder will be after Mason Mount/Caicedo. Quite relieved its not Rabiot.
I wouldn’t be. We won’t be paying £55 for Mount and then £80 for Caceido.

Tactical fit…. You know better than ETH?Many reasons and not just player ability. Its about tactical fit, age profile, wages, agent drama etc.

That's not what I said though. I know its a either/or. What I'm saying is we will buy Mount, and then look for a 2nd cheap midfield options. We need numbers if Fred, McT and VdB are leaving.
Listen to what you are saying. You are pointing your nose up to a free top tier midfielder and your are happy anticipating a cheap 2nd midfielder. Who exactly do you think we are getting better than Rabiot
We need players who will fit our team, are hungry and young. If we had a decent scouting program in place, we wouldnt be struggling to find talented midfielders. Considering our main midfield players are 31, 31 and 28, I'm not too bothered about not adding another middle of the road 28 yr midfielder on high wages. I'd be much happier with a 20M prospect natural defensive mid being understudy to Casemiro, than forcing Rabiot who played his best season as a #8 last year into that role. No more square pegs and round holes please, absolutely sick to death seeing the likes of McT/Fred being asked to play as defensive mids.
This Rabiot or bust mentality is strange.
Good news then we need hungry players who wan't to play for us.

Why don’t you explain why a player who can play both as an 6 and 8 very well wouldn't be a good tactical fit to replace Fred and McTominay? This is a stupid statement to make. Ofcourse none of us here are managers but that doesnt stop us from makin 100s of posts on tactics. When we signed VdB and everyone was questioning how he was gonna fit in, you could have made this exact statement. After following United for so many years, we all know managers have blindspots, and certain times we go for targets that are easier to sign than ones that are a better fit.

Apparently he has a good relationship with Allegri too. When you factor it all together, you can see why he may want to stay. We are hardly serious PL or CL contenders either.
Rashford could feed RabiotGood news then we need hungry players who wan't to play for us.
I dont know how he is not a guaranteed starter given the turdy state of our midfield. Not a surprise as he is not a guaranteed starter here but is at Juve. He’s just had one of his best ever seasons and is in the French side also.
Coming to a different country for not much financial gain but a lot of risk regarding career and he’s taking the safe option, which is justifiable.
I dont know how he is not a guranteed starter given the turdy state of our midfield.
I thought that the open spot in our midfield was for a #8 which is why Mount has been a target? Someone with Rabiot's profile is on paper perfect because he is able to play a multitude of roles at a high level and his preferred role is the one we are targetting.
If we are already getting Mount who is probably gonna be played as an #8, I think we should target a natural #6. Not a #8 who can do a job as a #6, which is what Rabiot is. There have been reports before of him clashing at PSG because he didnt wanna play as a defensive mid, and even Emery talked about he doesnt like playing there. Why don’t you explain why a player who can play both as an 6 and 8 very well wouldn't be a good tactical fit to replace Fred and McTominay?
That’s not where we are currently as a team and not how we improve with the aim of challenging next season.
Who is Pep’s young understudy’s at 20m? It’s such an FM flash dream. We have Kobie Mainoo for what you are pointing out.
Rabiot is a top level midfielder who would have been rotated through the season to uphold of level of performance in important league and Champions League games where the squad maybe stretched. Currently we do not have that midfield discipline without Casemiro and if you think some young kid is going to come in and fill them boots… I want what you’re drinking.

Specially when we had Weghorst for 6 months, I don't think asking questions should be frowned upon. This is a stupid statement to make. Rabiot has clashed with no one at PSG and Rabiot played there without issue and was good. The only thing is that it's not his preferred role and everyone knows that, we are also talking about a pure 6 not the role that Casemiro has played nor the role that Eriksen had. So we are not talking about Rabiot being primarily a 6, we are not talking about a player that has clashed with anyone about his role and we are talking about a player that is versatile.
It was thanks in part to Rabiot's emergence that PSG were happy to let Matuidi join Juventus in August 2017, yet debate continued to swirl about his best position. Emery wanted to play him as a No. 6 in front of the defence, but Rabiot repeatedly made it clear he would rather player further forward. Thomas Tuchel found himself grappling with the exact same quandary when he took over from Emery last summer.
"Adrien is a very curious player," Tuchel told L'Equipe in September. "He has an attacking mindset and likes to take risks. I like him a lot, but I'm not sure that he has the profile of a No. 6. It's not about his talent—he could do it, without any doubt—but it's not enough to have the physical or technical capacities of a No. 6; you also have to think like a No. 6."
https://psgtalk.com/2018/12/adrien-...ime-with-paris-saint-germain-comes-to-an-end/ [this source is psg talks, probably a disgruntled fan ]Instead of doing what’s best for the squad, neither Rabiot or his agent/mother Veronique saw him as the long-term defensive midfielder for PSG. It isn’t a glamorous position, so Rabiot threw a tantrum whenever he was asked to start in that position.
As a French person you will know better, and I will admit I have not followed Rabiot as much as you have probably. But there are multiple places saying this and this is where I got this from :
