Adnan Januzaj

So it's only pathetic when I do it? It's all fair game and reasonable for many members of this website to have an 18 month obsession with Suarez's certain transfer away from Liverpool...but a single thread on a United player and it's pathetic.

Maybe it's just the transfer season and this kind of stuff pops up a bit? If there's no story then fair enough.

There was only talk of Suarez last season because he admitted he wanted to leave the club in various interviews.

This season also Ancelotti admitted that Suarez is an interesting player and hence the discussion. If you've any problem with the discussion on this site then you can feck off and go back to RAWK. No need to act like an entitled kid on this matter.

I've no problem with transfer speculation but it seems the only reason you created this thread was just because the people here were discussing Suarez transfer.

He has caught the attention of the Spaniards though. Marca had a video of him scoring a goal during a training session for Belgium, I don't know how often they put videos of training sessions of teams like Belgium on their website but seemed to me like that it was the beginning of the flirtations. Hope I'm wrong though.

I hope the cnuts obssess about him for years.

Because that means he's a top class player. You can't expect any young footballer to become one of the best in the world without getting attention from the likes of Barca and Madrid. It comes with the territory.

They can f*ck right off. But this does seem like a transfer that will happen one day whether we like it not.

Why can't they want Rooney instead - maybe they missed his corner for England the other night!?

I'm merely exercising my right to reply and highlighting the fact that an element of fans on here never shut up about Suarez leaving.

I posted it because I saw it on the Mirror and was very surprised it hadn't been made a thread on here.

Like a lot of things with football fandom (of all teams) we are quick to counter stories that don't suit our own wishes while stories that we like the sound of become dead certs. Heck, if it was to do with a player coming to United it would be discussed with enthusiasm even if the story was pretty groundless.

Pretty sure that's because the player himself came out and said he wanted to leave, not just to Madrid, but to Arsenal as well. Not to mention both Wenger and Ancelotti talking about him too.

A world of difference from a throwaway article in the Mirror that none of the other papers/outlets have mentioned at all.

I think Adnan will play for us a good while to come. He's seen Ronaldo become an established superstar under Fergie at our club. Though the manager's changed, there's very few better qualified men out there than LVG to develop his innate talent.

We've given him his big break and he's United fan. One season of CL-less football is not going to affect the thinking of a 19 yr old.

Well this again, same happened with Hernandez 2 or 3 years ago - they were linked at £25m and people said he was worth double that. I guess we'd sell him for half the amount now.

Januzaj is good but £33m is a very high price for a 19-year old with just a handful of professional games to his name. We'd at least consider a bid in that region and for £40m we'd sell him in an instant. Not that it's going to happen mind, he hasn't yet reached a level at which Real Madrid would take him off our hands.

I feel like this statement is ridiculous enough to be a WUM. He's probably the most talented teenager on world football currently. 33million in a world where we paid 27million for Fellaini? Not a chance.

Januzaj is far better than Hernandez all round as well.

He's a better player and will probably develop into one of the finest wingers in the world.

Those very good wingers/attacking midfielders usually cost around that - see Hazard, Mata, Silva etc. £40m is a lot of money, as is £33m. Not saying we should say him at that price, I wouldn't advocate such deal at all in honesty but to say Madrid would have to reach £65m for us to consider it is obviously crazy as we'd definitely give it a thought at a considerably lower price.

We paid about £15m too much for Fellaini. It shouldn't be a benchmark for anything.

Hazard went for around £30m, Gotze joined Bayern for £30m, Lucas who was also highly regarded at the time of his transfer went for around £25m. £35m to £40m is a fair price for a supremely talented youngster if he's on the move - Januzaj won't be though.

If we use Fellaini as a measure then good luck finding ANY midfielder below £25m this season. In a world where Fellaini is worth £27m we should probably pay £35m for Vermaelen when we buy him.

I agree he wont leave so soon, maybe in a few years but lets hope he actually gets game time and not frustrated sat on bench week after week because the likes of Young, Valencia and even Welbeck are picked ahead of him because of so called experience.
The boy went off the boil slightly last season when in and out of team but during the sustained period through winter he was by far our best player. Then dithering Dave dropped him, obviously signing Mata did not help but to drop our most inform player at the time was crazy imo.

Give us Coentrao, Varane AND Mordric and we might consider it, otherwise GTFO!

If they give us Verane, Gareth Bale and Isco, and add some cash, they we should consider it.. fair deal I say, given Januzaj's age and potential. Doubt it's true, why would he move there were he won't get as many games as he will at United. He can become next Ryan Giggs / Bryan Robson (in terms of games and goals for United)..

If there's one thing we can all be very sure of is that Van Gaal couldn't care less for experience. He's said it time and time again. Young or old, if they're good enough they will play and Januzaj is good enough.

United are bigger in Belgium than Real Madrid. No worries.

Not a chance we would let him go for 33. In a world were shaw is looking to coast that much, I wouldn't even think about selling him at that price right now

There has been no thread because predictably I just did a search on Marca.com, and couldn't find anything related to Januzaj.

In reality, the Glazers would snap their hand off at £33m

Really don't think so. They didn't force SAF to sell Ronaldo in 2008, in 2009 Ronaldo just didn't want to stay anymore. They didn't force SAF/Moyes to sell Rooney in 2010/2013. They agreed to pay him 250 k. They agreed to pay 24 mil for a 29 year old RvP. They agreed to break our transfer record for a Player Chelsea did not want. They didn't refuse to pay more for Fellaini than his actual release clause. Not everyone needs to like them, and it might be an unpopular opinion, but idiots they are not and they have provided money when needed. If only for example we had not spent 18 mil on Young and 27 mil on Fellaini (who are also both on high wages), but instead the sum of those two (45 mil) on a quality signing, the perception of them or our transfers might have been different. Whereas in the end it's not their fault that we have wasted money on some truely terrible players for our standards.

This a 100%

The Fellaini bit was a throwaway comment. The simple point is we want to keep him, and he doesn't want to go. Your statement that we'd flog him if offered 40million is way off, specifically because, as you've pointed out(and should be obvious), we don't want him to leave.

The players you've listed above all played for smaller clubs looking to make a profit and knowing they'd lose him eventually. We're Manchester United, those rules don't apply.

While I hope Januzaj isn't one of them, I don't think that's a generalization that's true. A top talented footballer at 19 years of age, who gets publicly chased by the CL-winners.. It would probably be tempting.

Cant see him leave United already. Not the way he was when he signed the contract. He couldve gone anywhere since he was out of contract, and he chose to stay. That should tell us all something.

In reality, the Glazers would snap their hand off at £33m

No they wouldn't. As shite as they are & as shite as we are at getting fees for selling players, if we don't want to sell we won't. You could double that and they still wouldn't force us to sell.

We won't sell him. I just said that fair market value for a player like him would be between £25m and £40m depending on the situation we'd be in, not way above £60m as suggested.

The Glazers aren't idiots, and we are not a selling club. Why would they jump at the offer of £33m when he could one day become another £80m player. We already turned down PSG in the last window, he will become a figurehead for the club just like Rooney.

You may be right. On the other hand he could one day become a £5m player. It depends how much the Glazers are willing gamble on that player potential versus a very sizeable fee for a player who, for all his promise, is currently unproven.

If you re-read your initial post you said we'd sell him for 40million (in a heartbeat or something). That statement is obviously wrong.

Fair market value doesn't really exist either - context is crucial. Smaller clubs with less leverage sell for less. When clubs don't want to sell, and don't have to because the players are tied down/aren't pushing for a move, the price goes up drastically.

There's no way we will sell him, LvG is about to turn him in to a world beater. This kid is going to be worth 100 Mil in 3 years or so

Come on now, don't be ridiculous. Apparently Glazers are ok to pay around the same amount for Luke Shaw, so why on hell they will decide to sell Januzaj when it is a quite big possibility that Januzaj will become much more valuable than Shaw (attacking players always cost more than defensive players).

I know the Glazer hate but making speculations based on absolutely nothing when everything suggest on the other way around will make you look a bit childish.

doesn't make any sense. They have Jese who is probably as good as Januzaj in the same position.

Since when does anything they do make sense?

Mostly they do things that don't make a lot of sense, but this doesn't make any sense at all. The more you think about them and their squad it gets more and more ridiculous.
