Adnan Januzaj

Is Garth Crooks stupid?
Moyes has handled Adnan perfectly, and he's clearly not only playing him due to injuries.

In fairness, Moyes did say he's playing him more than he'd like due to injuries. Obviously the subtleties of introducing young players to first team football are lost on Crooks.

I couldn't even point out Kosovo on the map. International games will be grueling for the lad.
Out early from all international competition, longer rest. It's a win situation for Manchester United if he plays for Kosovo.

England were never going to get him. Id be pretty mystified if they did to be honest, what affinity can Januzaj possibly have with England? Other than the country he currently works in. He should either play for the country he was born in, the country he was raised in or the country of his parents' birth. If he was making the decision based on wanting to ensure a successful international career he'd be better off picking Belgium than England anyway.

Well, it's his own decision, so if it's what he wants...

Can't say I'm not disappointed if he doesn't pick Belgium though, I always like to see our players do well at international level.

My main concern now would be Kosovo having a half decent chance in beating Ireland, should we draw them. Ten bin men and Adnan would give us a run for our money, they'd be the lowest seed too.

Revan called this in the summer that Januzaj would want to wait for this to happen. Personally I'm happy with it if that's the country he chooses. When it comes to international football, I think players should choose the country that's in their hearts and clearly Kosovo is just that to Adnan and his family.

Yeah it's not about picking who might be more successful but which nationality he identifies with the most. There should be no tug of war from countries trying to claim him, just let the lad decide. Seems like the Belgium coach got on the wrong side if Adnan's Dad too, which doesn't sound like a sensible thing to do!

They've a deadly flag, look pretty nifty getting waved round Old Trafford. Nemanja's fecking off so we don't have to worry about pissing him off either.

Has he ever played any youth international games? That's a pretty clear sign of not choosing Albania or Belgium if he hasn't even played at youth level.

I think I'd read that he hasn't played any internationals at youth level.

To be fair, I think it would be pretty great for him to choose Kosovo if there's a sentiment of belonging for him. Plus, it'll be extremely exciting, he'll be their best player for years, he'll be part of history in the making as one of their first players.

I'd find it ridiculous if he ever played for England.

God no, that's the last thing he needs.

I like the idea of him playing for Kosovo. It makes him unscapegoatable.

Ah, for selfish reasons I was kind of hoping he chooses us or Belgium. Players like Adnan deserve to play at World Cups.

Nice sentiment, though.

For selfish reasons I hope he chooses Kosovo ..... more playing time for United.

I don't really agree with this thinking. We don't miss them unless they get injured. For example, I want Rafa to get a crack in the Brazil squad. The guy deserves it. Ditto De Gea.

I wonder whether playing for Kosovo will be his choice, or his dad's.

I just hope he does not align himself to a country destined to never play internationally at the top level.

I'm sure if you asked Giggs or Best, they would have loved to have starred at a world cup given the chance.

He's a frightening talent as an opposition fan, but i've known it since his reserve days that he would be a player.

Well done you. But to be honest most people who I know who claim to follow the reserves have mainly been banging on about Will Keane. Now, he may turn out to be a fantastic player also but in comparison I heard very little about Januzaj. Maybe I'm listening to the wrong people or maybe the whole thing of claiming to follow the reserves boils down to little more than repeating a name ''for the future" they've heard from the mouths of others.

As I say, if you spotted his talent early well done. But, and I could be wrong, I don't think he was anywhere near the most spoken of player out of his peers at that level by those who like to claim interest in the reserve team.

No need to be so patronising Plugsy. He probably only watched our u18s/U21s when they played Liverpool, rather than following them like a United fan would, and Januzaj had some really good games against Liverpool (despite them trying to hack him down at every opportunity). He ran the show and was the best player on the pitch in most games. He was a class above in the U21s and it wasn't hard to see that he was a very special talent. A lot of those who watched him last season both in the U18 and U21s were desperate for Fergie to give him games in the dead rubbers at the end of last season, it was quite obvious he had 'it'. The harder thing to predict w as the impact he would make on the first team, which has been brilliant. Almost immediately one of our best players.

I wasn't being directly patronising, or intending to be. But everyone's running around claiming to have known he would be start from the get-go but looking at the reserve forum I don't even believe he had his own thread there. All I'm saying is that if everyone who follows the reserves thought he would be a star player it's odd how interest only really started after August.

We can all wait until someone breaks through and claim we knew they would. But anecdotally with my friends and in the reserve forum here, Januzaj wasn't really on that 'agenda'. He'd be mentioned along with some others but next to nobody had him pinned as the next break out star. Now suddenly everyone's claiming they did.

I've seen an interview with him where he states he considers himself Kosovan, and that all his family are there. I think it's fantastic if he does choose them, and you never know, they could have a decent team a few years down the line.

This is the same thread, it just got moved!
Also have a look in all the matchday threads from the U18s in the first half and U21s in the second half of last season, a lot of discussion will have been in those threads.
Those who didn't watch him regularly may have had their doubts but most of those who did genuinely believed he would make it here.

I made this point some months ago and everyone disagreed, but I certainly recall a lot of people of the forum were of the belief that Daelhi was the best player in the team when they were both playing for the kids. I'm not sure I had too much of an opinion either way myself, I was usually too busy drooling over Jack Barmby at the time I think.

I've no idea, mate - I'm not responsible for my stupidity. :D

What nonsense, he only really got promoted to the u21s last season and the season before that he was hampered with injuries, or the season before that I forget. Either way, he was very much talked about last season and you also seem to forget that Will Keane missed the whole of last season so he wouldn't have been talked about as much as Adnan, I have to assume that your friends missed last year when it came to following reserves.
