Adama Traore

I like him too, he'd be worth a punt especially if Boro go down.

Beggars belief that some people want us to sign a player who has a turd for a brain.

Mourinho's definitely not the manager to help him improve.

You'll hear this sort of thing about him for the next 3-4 years. He's hardly the first tricky physical winger who has absolutely nothing going on upstairs whose career will amount to nothing.

I don't think it's easy to play the game at the speed he does, the mental side of the game will come with more experience, this is only his first full season in the top flight after all.
I'm not comparing them as they're different players, but I remember people saying the same thing about Bale.

:D

I believe that he can turn into an amazing player and his "lack of brain" is overstated. It'd be hard for most in this Boro team.
Yup I agree with this. I think people forget that a lot of the time players have different development paths and the all firing wonder kid route. You look at the like of Mkhitaryan really pushing on in his third dortmund year, Mertens, Payet after inconsistency in the french league and even players like Zaha (who isn't done yet) and Mahrez. Not saying for sure his career will turn out like these players, but 5 years is a very very long time in football, and in 5 years Traore will still only be 26.

I agree with all of that. If he's still making the same mistakes in 5 years times then the brainless shouts will hold more sway, but in his first full season of top flight football it's only natural he's not going to have the greatest decision making, especially when he plays the game with such intense pace.

Couldn't get a game at Villa, struggles to start at Boro and some wouldn't mind him here?

He's terrible.

I don't recall a player with less footballing intelligence than him. He had a ful La Masia education and look at him. I can't see the incredible amount of development required for him to become a top four player happening.

Must be the most frustrating player in the league.

Adama plays like a guy who used to be Messi at the youth level, except the only reason he was that dominant was because of a massive physical gap with his peers, and now that he's a pro and doesn't have the same advantage, it exposes all of his flaws

Bad coaching at the youth level

Averaging an assist every 16.25 games this season in the PL.

tbf I think Middlesbrough have only scored 5 goals this season

Edit: Averages the most dribbles per game in the PL this season, which doesn't counter what people have said about his footballing intelligence, but shows that there's at least technical skill there to partner his pace.

Have to consider he came out of La Masia, too. Players are taught to play their style over there, at villa and boro he's being asked to play in a very different fashion to what he's done all his life. Barca youth products, unless they're truly special talents, generally take time adapting to different clubs and playing styles

And it didn't help that he went to play for the two worst sides in the PL in consecutive seasons...

I just doesn't explain why he plays so brainlessly. You are talking the basics of getting his head up and making a decent pass.

That doesn't mean shit. Deulefou is also la masia and is similarly a ridiculously stupid player and he is even about 10x better than Traore.

Being able to run really fast with the ball doesn't make you immensely talented or gifted. There is a hell of a lot more to football and the lad hasn't none of it. People would take him here, it's laughable. Give your heads a wobble. He isn't even as good as an Aaron Lennon or Walcott.

Not sure why he gets this much stick but the likes of Zaha and Bolasie don't? Bearing in mind they're both older and also lack end product 9 times out of 10

Because people think that he has top class talent & his La Mansia background mean that top club should give him a chance. No such expectation for Bolasie. Zaha was widely accepted at least not yet cut for top level.

No it's not even about end product, it's football IQ. This guy seems to be even more stupid (football IQ) than the others. The other may not make smart movement, but they can sense danger & move into dangerous area. This guy was man marking a defender at times out wide when the ball is played into his supposed attacking area in the box.

His first touch seems fairly consistent, maybe he could be coached into a decent right back if he has another season of shite end product as a winger.

This guy is a different level compared to Zaha. Zaha's problem is his composure. He knows what to do but will bottle it.

This guy is capable of going on A maradona 86 run only to try to pass the ball to another player and lose the ball in the process. Zaha would take a shot but 60% it would have gone wide or be saved.
