Academy Vs Blackburn away

FT 3-0
great end to the second half, the start was a bit scrappy

Just saw the lingard goal.. very well taken
3 very good goals

Morrison drills home a second from the edge of the area into the far corner after a lay off from a typical surging Tunnicliffe run.

Morrison has been unplayable the last 20 mins.

has a toch of the John Mcenroe about him...looks surly and maybe needs to get a little angry before we see the full range of his talent

What a player he is! Clearly above this level, hope he will be regular for reserves in all matches till the end of season - he is physically just way above than this boys.

Morrison never fails to impress. Tremendous skill and cleverness.

Thorpe off with a back injury. I guess he really is the new Pally.

Missed it completely as I'm in the apple shop getting my lappy fixed but great result and good to see ravel turn it on after being a bit quiet!

Thanks for the vids. Looks very impressive Morrison does. I think this season it is left to late to break into the first team unless he is absolutely needed, but next season he should be challenging some of the players for a position in the squad.

He's a tall lad but has some filling out to do. Not the quickest but a great body swerve and very quick feet. He's a little like a Pogba playing on the wing.

As for the game 1-0 at HT with Blackburn forcing a good save out of a diving Johnstone near the end but it's been one way traffic for the most part against an organised side with United disappointed to only go in with a slender lead.

I think he has a lot of improving to do, which i'm sure he'd admit himself. Pogba and him are two different worlds. It might be apt once he's settled and able to express himself in games but for the most part he's a passenger. It'll come i'm sure but I think it gives people the wrong impression because Pogba slotted in from day one but this kid has still a long way to go

I think you have misunderstood my post. I was just comparing the style of player. 'A little like' doesn't mean 'the same as'.

While Petrucci needed time. Not necessarily a reflection of class or potential. I've not seen as much of him as many of you, but he seems like an interesting player. Able to take people on, clever team player, decent left foot.

Having watched a fair few of his games, he's nothing 'like' Pogba (though would be interesting to see him in midfield) and I did acknowledge that he'll need time. I think Pogbas more fluid with his movements while Van looks cumbersome/slow but you'd expect him to get better. He's no more interesting then Brady or Ajose, not yet anyway for me. Having said that, we played him up top and it takes awhile to learn how to make the runs and be a genuine threat

It's like anything Elliot. I didn't rate Brady when I first saw him, but then you see little things and you've just described Brady basically

IMO it's nothing like, for instance, a cucumber.

Morrison is such a great player to watch, very technically gifted.

Does anyone know the reason why Tunnicliffe, Pogba, Morrison etc have all gone back into the academy team? Are there no reserve games scheduled?

I just meant as in he's tall with good quick feet and feints, not reliant on pace, like Pogba. It's not that difficult to see some similarity surely?

Van Velzen hardly looks cumbersome, he's a very good technical player who's adapting to the pace and physicality and improving with each game.

yeah I know but when you compare people online, automatically those who haven't seen him get the wrong impression. Yes he's tall but I think everything else has been very much not happening. Not saying it won't but he's basically a passenger.

What did he do of note in the last game? Actually that's unfair as he's playing out of position with our injuries but he was not effective. He didn't have an effort on goal. He was offside alot. I'm not saying it to be critical, I just think it won't be until next season or so that we'll see the player you're describing. I hope so anyway.

He's playing out of position and improving game by game. His hold up play was very good at times and gave us the platform for the performance. I've never said he's the finished article, but that we will probably see the best of him next year when he's adapted to the physicality and pace of the English game.

I do think you are being over critical, which is odd since you are normally the complete opposite in discussing our youngsters!

I wonder what Pogba's height is now? Can he bulk up and not slow down? How I would love to see him in one of the cups to see how he matches up. He is bullying the kids he is playing against.

Actually, the 1st Morrison goal reminds me of a goal that Rooney scored against the Bar Codes a few years back. He was getting a lecture from the ref and 2 seconds later, he walked away and belted a stunner of a goal.
Overall, I am impressed with his vision and imagination.

Fantastic highlgihts, again.

Looks like Tunnicliffe had a good game again. Some of those runs are fantastic - his technique is massively underrated. We have some seriously good midfield talent in the ranks.

You almost expect it now from Morrison given the form he's in. Not just scoring consistently (good goals and all), but showing a wonderful all-round threat.

In a way, it's mouthwatering to think of what Morrison and Wilshere could potentially be like together, though Morrison's obviously still got a bit to go yet.
