Usually a good game at this level. Goals should be given aswell looking at our defense recently

2 teams with much better attacking than defensive options. Should be a fun one to watch indeed

Manchester United starting line-up:

Devlin

Strickland Wootton Thorpe Dudgeon

Morrisson Norwood Tunnicliffe Brady

Petrucci
Macheda

Subs: Ajose, Stewart, James, Brandao, Gill

Very young and exciting side for us, Tom Thorpe makes his U18 debut I think and he's joined by other U16 players Morrisson and Tunnicliffe who are both only 15. Surprised to see James on the bench as well.

2 mins gone and Liverpool batter the crossbar with an Amoo volley from close range - looked a certain goal.

Not sure how Amoo missed from there. Lovely move from us just before that with dummies from the two Italians.

This Pepper kid on the Liverpool side looks extremely hateable already based on the evidence of the home game and this one so far.

What an open start this is. Liverpool flash another dangerous ball across the box, we break up the other end and put together a great move, Petrucci not quite able to get power and direction on the header.

An incredible ball by Davide Petrucci to start that move though, first time out side of the right foot over and between two defenders to send Macheda running through - pure class.

 I take it he's the little urchin the ref had words with?

Roma chiefs were raving about Davide Petrucci even when we signed him. Hope we see him against Derby in the Carling Cup.

Liverpool 0-1 Manchester United:

Norwood 22'

A brilliant chip by Norwood from about 20-25 yards, fantastic goal.

He is, yeah. Was constantly whining at the ref or giving away freekicks in the game at Carrington, looks like the prototypical annoying scouser right from the Gerrard/Carragher mould.

Very unlikely, he's only made one sub appearance for the reserves so far, hard to see him being promoted above the likes of Gibson and Possebon in midfield or Welbeck/Manucho/Tevez upfront for a first team game just yet.

In the words of Jip Jaap...."Busy little cnut" !

Petrucci glides around the pitch doesnt he? V. impressive player at this level.

Morrisson hits the post after a corner came in, off the post and right back out - very unlucky!

Needed Vidic there to run onto that one, the way it bounces back across off the inside of the post.

Petrucci's really starting to excel at this level and almost look too good for it. His touch and awareness are fantastic.

Looked a big chance for Kiko that, unlike him to miss it.

And now he's booked for the second game running, couldn't really see why :/

Agreed, some of his passing is amazing. The great thing for him is that he looks very accomplished upfront and in the centre of midfield - could become some player if he keeps on improving.

Macheda gets a yellow card for some reason there.

Brilliant composure from the two Italians, 2-0. Hard to say we don't deserve that, terrific first half performance.

Liverpool 0-2 Manchester United:

Macheda 40'

Great disguised ball through by Petrucci and Macheda did very well to get himself onside and then a cool finish too. The Italian duo at it again!

HT: Liverpool 0-2 Manchester United

Norwood 22'
Macheda 40'

Frantic opening, when it all settled down we looked the better side on the ball and kept more advanced possession. Davide Petrucci has almost been running things for United this half though it has been a brilliant performance all round by the side. One super strike and one very well worked goal to round off a great half for us.

We've started brightly in this 2nd half too, Ra'vel Morrisson went on a great run skipping past 2-3 players and was stopped by a good save down in the corner. Then Norwood had his whipped corner turned on to the bar. Now Macheda's just missed a good chance in the box with his left foot, just over the bar - United well on top.

We've picked up where we left off, should really be further ahead now. Bouzanis with a great save from Morrison (after a brilliant run) and a desperate tip onto the bar from a Norwood corner, Macheda firing uncharacteristically wide after another great move sliced Liverpool open. This is sensational football at the minute.

Hmm. Switched off for a bit and we've let them back into it, Dalle Valle makes it 2-1. Should have been out of sight by now, hopefully we can respond the right way.

Great team goal, perfect pass from Macheda and great composure from young Ra'vel to round the keeper and tuck it in. Really the very least we deserved, and that's taken the sting out of the Liverpool comeback completely.

where exactly does ra'vel play ?
is he a winger or more central ?

Morrisson's a right winger, though looks like he can play in most attacking positions.

It was a nicely worked 3rd goal, very clever run by Morrisson and composure to take it past the keeper and tap it in - great ball through by Macheda too. We've been back on top again after that goal.

FT: Liverpool 1-3 Manchester United

We could have scored even more at the end there as well as during the game, very dominant performance by us interspersed with rare Liverpool pressure. Class performances all round the pitch for us, Davide Petrucci in middle was a class above at times with his touch, passing and awareness whilst Ra'vel Morrisson tore through their defence at time with his electric pace and excellent close control. Very promising performance by the side.

3-1 full-time, best performance of the season by some way in my opinion, a much bigger scoreline wouldn't have flattered us at all. Liverpool's 100% home record emphatically ended as well.

Impressed by pretty much the whole side I have to say. Thorpe looked very composed, good on the ball, very sound in the basics defensively - I hate to go back to criticising Oliver Gill again but Thorpe to me looks a natural footballer and defender, something I've never seen from Gill.

Could rave about most of them out there this morning, great to watch.

I've got to say that Morrison really does look a very special talent. Awesome dribbler, great movement, fairly strong and fast, good shot on him, not too small. It's all there.
Yes, I know we'll get told that he'll never make it etc etc by people mostly using Rossi as an example but right now he looks good enough to mature into a first teamer here if it goes well for him.

Great result.

Tom Thorpe looks like an exceptional talent - how often do you see a 15-year old defender play with such composure and maturity ? I have to be careful judging a defender after watching him for 90 mins - but I haven't been so impressed with a young, homegrown defender since Craig Cathcart made his debut for the reserves as a 16-year old against Liverpool

Tom Thorpe and Scott Wootton could be a good partnership in next years academy-league.

Morrison looks a proper talent. Keeps the ball extremely close to his feet. A solid team performance against a pale Liverpool.

He is playing for the reserves at Accrington on Monday night so is being rested for that.
