Academy: Liverpool vs Manchester United

I know, were you looking at RAWK, most of them are completely neglecting the fact that they basically beat a team of u-18's, they are adamament that they are comfortably better than us despite our victory in the FA youth cup. Apparently Morrison is our only decent player and they have 7 players likely to make it to their first team.

That is a testament to how bad their first team squad is really.
Honestly, a few of their players look good but beating our inexperienced and physically inferior side is not proof positive that they are ready for the first team.

Also, I don't know where they got the idea that United fans are saying that Daehli is like Messi crossed with Xavi. That was a top scout in Norway that said that.

Edit: Just a thought, Palace beat Chelsea 4-1 today. I'm sure that means Palace will be challenging for the premier league title with that side in a few years. Get what I mean? ;)

U16s you mean?

But eh, RAWK in delusion shock horror.

the scoreline is embarassing for us.... :(
The scorelines are not terribly important at this level, although of course it is rather painful.

Liverpool have dominated this league in the recent past anyway, and it has given them little in the first-team. And teams like Aston Villa and Everton generally aren't that great at this level, but bring through players regardless.

Very true. Sure it's not nice to see any United side lose to a Liverpool side, especially 6-0. But at the academy (and reserve to a lesser extent) level it's all about development and experience. Winning is a bonus

True. Apart from the Youth Cup! Losing to Liverpool and City in the same day is a pretty bad day tbh. Hopefully a treble of wins Monday, and especially Tuesday and Wednesday would heal that though.

Also worth remembering Jim Ryan's words about Larnell Cole and Jesse Lingard after the City match earlier this season (except this time we had a team full of them) -

Youth Cup win would be lovely! Would add a very nice sheen to the season indeed, especially if we wrap the title up early and see a few youngsters against Blackpool.

I'm just watching it now, and really impressed by Wilkinson at centre half. Really game and looked good on the ball too.

The young lads in particular acquitted themselves well despite the scoreline and looks like we'll be an exciting team to watch next year.

Cheers GirishII.

Did record this on LFCTV but when I saw the scorline I thought I'd wait for the highlights instead of listening to their commentators frothing at the mouth comparing their team to Barcelona.

Coll, despite conceding 6 had a pretty good game then. Could have been a lot worse if not for save some great saves. Leao stuck up front alone again was disappointing. Les Kershaw's certainly more animated than Paddy. A lot of 'Oohh''s and 'Woaahh''s

Yeah, its been annoying because that result has been mentioned all over the place in the media when talking about how great their youth set-up is (mostly due to the full-backs that played against Arsenal, and Raheem Sterling who is being hyped a lot.)

Despite the scoreline our lads played some good stuff and just got outpowered a bit by bigger, stronger and fitter lads who quite a bit older and more experienced by them.

Looking forward to next season to see these lads, they look very technical so we may see some great football!! Just need people to be patient with them because given their size (and young age, so presumably inconsistency), they may get a few hammerings next season but its all part of learning.
