Kick off at 11am, live on MUTV.

Team news thanks to ManUnitedYouth's twitter...

United XI: Coll, Rudge, McGinty, Fornasier, Wilkinson, Ekangamene, Lawrence, Rothwell, Leao, Daehli, Wilson.

Subs: Thorpe, Sutherland, Keane, Rowley, Pearson.

Very young side with the midweek FA Youth Cup semi-final 2nd leg in mind, but a lot of players to watch out for as well.

There's a LFCTV stream for this btw. Check the usual sites.

Still mystified to why Rafael Leao is being stuck up front. Is it the lack of a striker we have at that level?

Looking forward to see how this team does against a relatively strong Liverpool side, really hope to see Pearson off the bench in particular as I've never seen him before. Interesting they've chosen to play Leao upfront when we have other options; Lawrence and Wilson in particular.

Joe Coll with a fantastic save there. Sterling did well down the wing and cut the ball in, looked like a certain goal but very well saved down to his left.

I think I'm right in saying that Eric Harrison in the co-commentator? I wish he'd do it more often cause listening to all his stories and insights into academy football is very interesting.

It's Les Kershaw mate, he's also involved (can't remember his exact position in the youth set up) and has very good knowledge.

Yeah just heard them say that there now, I thought it was Eric Harrison for some reason. 1-0 Liverpool, Silva with a well taken finish. I have a feeling he might have used his arm to control it though.....

Liverpool 1-0 Manchester United

Quality goal by Silva for Liverpool, showed some very good composure.

Tom Lawrence has been really good so far, great shot from distance there. He seems to have really good control and technique on the ball.

Good finish alright, but handball? McGinty just hit the outside of the post after the keeper missed a corner.

Yeah, on second look it did seem quite dodgy.

2-0 now, another very good goal by Silva (without any controversy this time) though some weak defending there. Two missed challenges and he finishes from about 20 yards.

2-0 Liverpool, good finish again but it has to be said United were very poor defensively, missed two challenges on him.

Thats half-time, Liverpool have been on top but thats to be expected really considering the youthful look of United's side. Theres been some decent performances by the younger lads though, Lawrence has stood up as one of the senior players and he's been impressive, apart from that I've been very impressed by some of Wilson's touches on the left and Rothwell has coped well in the middle, Wilkinson has also been quite good at centre-back although he missed a tackle for Liverpools second.

Kershaw takes a bit of a back seat these days I think as an advisor. He's great on these though as he's more candid than others in the youth set up, as well as having an encyclopaedic knowledge of youth football. No offence to Albiston who does a good job, but I'd much prefer to hear Kershaw every academy game.

Liverpool have started the second half better as well, Coll has had to make a couple more good saves to keep them out.

This is the most one sided 2-0 I think I've ever seen - Liverpool are giving us an absolute pasting right now.

Good learning experience for all the under-16s that are playing.
They are playing against the best under-18s side in our division and are battling for their lives.

Very much so, especially when you add Liverpool's undoubted thoughts of revenge for the youth cup game. Disappointed in McGinty and Fornasier though, 2 of the more senior u18s and yet the defending was poor - we were letting them waltz through the middle far too easily time and time again.

Charni looks a lovely player too.

Even though its 6 nil and could end up at more, its been a good effort from a team made up with a lot of Schoolboys and one trialist.

It shouldn't be underestimated the effect of not having a centre-forward available and the disparate physical nature of the two sides. Its also been a problem that we haven't had a proper right back against Sterling.

Only caught the half hour either side of the half, but Lawrence did some good stuff, very good feet. Daehli had some good moments too and Wilkinson seemed a prospect, I think Kershaw said he's predicted to grow a lot too.

Bad scoreline but they're United lads, built to respond well.

Disappointing scoreline, but considering there was 5 schoolboys and one trialist in the starting lineup with two more schoolboys coming on its not too disappointing. Wilson impressed me when the few occasions the ball was in the Liverpool final 3rd in the second half and I can't wait to see him next year.

Chances are we'll have a very young academy team next year with a lot of first years, but it does look like we have some great talents. Hopefully these players will get a few more chances towards the end of the season against some weaker academy sides.

Also I assume Jack Barmby must be injured as he was getting a few games for the academy and reserves earlier in the season so were he fit I would assume he would of been playing today.

The worst part about that game was the obviously legally retarded LFCTV co-commentator who started every fecking sentence with do you know what...? Yes, considering all you spouted were old, tired cliches we fecking do know what, you dumb piece of shit!

Anyways, got to see Pearson for the first time. Tidy, little mop-head. Dæhli and Wilson had a few good moments. The latter worked incredibly hard.

In some ways the scoreline is irrelevant. Many of our players are part-time and that lack of fitness/strength showed in the second half when they scored many of their goals.

Its just one of those things.
Needs stating that the ignorance of some of the Liverpool fans is profound. Saying that some of your players qualify for u-18s next season so your team is young too, when comparing to an u-16 part time player is beyond delusional.

I know, were you looking at RAWK, most of them are completely neglecting the fact that they basically beat a team of u-18's, they are adamament that they are comfortably better than us despite our victory in the FA youth cup. Apparently Morrison is our only decent player and they have 7 players likely to make it to their first team.
