Not only are we terrible at shootouts but it also feels like everyone we play against turns into prime Ballotelli/Lampard/Ronaldo/Jorginho from the spot
 
De Gea & Henderson are both terrible when it comes to penalties. Rarely guess anything right.
 
Surely a keeper should just go the same way every time and put the onus on the taker to second guess himself. Whatever, this is shit.
 
7 losses in 8 shootouts. This is our mentality. We're the new arsenal

Being an England/United/Leftie has been particularly shit for the last decade
 
It’s a terrible record, but it seems like our opponents are always fecking amazing at penalties. Even 8, 9, 10 players deep, they’re picking out the top corner and scoring worldies.
 
It's rather worrying how good teams look against us when it comes to shootouts, they make it look so easy.

Our GK never looks like saving one so the pressure eases a little...

This, they seem amazing at pens and I reckon it's a mentality thing, they're not afraid as they should be
 
Almost 20 penalties not saved in the last two shoot outs. Its unreal.
 
We beat Chelsea in the Champions League, thar matters a bit more than Boro in the cup at home. My point being; don’t take Boro to pens at home, it’s embarrassing it even went there.
 
It looked like Boro could’ve sent out their under 11s and Henderson still wouldn’t have saved one.
 
What was the last time we won a penalty shootout and what's the general score we have since Moscow? Tonight it felt like, if it comes to penalties, we're losing. And we did, was predictable really.

14 years ago. We were a different club. The only thing that's the same is the name
 
Everyone going about bottling it. We scored 10 in a row in the Europa final and 7 tonight. That's not bottling it. Unfortunately the keepers never save any

Manchester.
It does make it easier.
We should have done it in 90 mins . We didn’t.It happens.

Our players have awful mentals and it's been the case since post Fergie
 
Theres nothing wrogn with our penalty taking in shootouts for me, we have pretty much scored almost everyone the last few shootouts. Its pretty hard to win one though with DeGea and Henderson is even worse at them. Only way we can win a penalty shootout is if the other side actually miss
 
I think this is a symptom of something wrong within our club. There is no way that a top team can have the penalty shootout record and the corner record that we have and for such a long time. Its clear that a lot of these players mentally are not elite players which is on them.

But this also ties into the state of the club where we are hoarding players who have proven time and time again that mentally they struggle with the expectations of united (shaw, rashford, maguire, martial, lingard etc). Talent is one thing, but what separates the champions more importantly is the mental aspect which we seem to lack throughout the club.

This is no way on Elanga by the way, although it was a dreadful pen.

I think we won the toss and chose the Stretford End rather than the order. Maguire definitely picked that. Is there a separate toss for each thing?
 
Stapleton v videoton ot what ever they called in 84 , man eas brilliant for club we hmwred them in everything but goals

That was more than a decade ago. Right now we can't win a penalty shootout to save our life irrespective of the competition.

Henderson you’re up
 
Henderson was diabolical. He had absolutely no presence in that goal whatsoever. I was told he was meant to be good at saving penalties. He was nothing of the sort. He certainly was not Donnaruma.
 
The majority of the players have a weak mentality and that trait comes to the forefront time and time again when the pressure gets cranked up.
 
Have never won a penalty shootout in the FA Cup and I'm old enough to remember United losing to Southampton on Penalties 30 years ago.

2nd time for Middlesbrough to knock United out of the cup on penalties in Old Trafford. The other exit in 2015 in the league Cup under LVG.
