Aaron Ramsdale

So this is what a ball-playing goalkeeper gets you. A goal from the halfway line and some close calls on pens.

I dislike him and Arsenal as much as the next reasonable man, but it's a bit harsh to suddenly say he's an awful keeper tonight when he could quite easily end up with the golden glove this season.

Pretty hilarious how he was dancing around, presumably in an attempt to distract the penalty taker, only for him to have it leathered past him before he even finished his antics.

What's with England Goalkeepers and being complete and utter knobs. Nick Pope seems the only decent one.

The way he jumped over one of Sporting's penalties, and waited for another one to go in before he started diving  I know De Gea isn't known for his penalty saving but at least hes a good shot stopper. If Ramsdale didn't have good distribution then he'd be a Championship keeper.

Yeah sure. Let‘s just forget that they are top of the league and their „without distribution Championship keeper“ has a brilliant season.

From rags to a right cnut. I don’t rate him or his annoying face.

City have proven with Ederson that if your team spends a large portion of the game in the opposition half then the main thing you need from your keeper is quality distribution. Ramsdale is similar to Ederson in that sense: one of the worst shot stoppers in the league but one of the best at distribution.

I mean i agree that neither Ederson or Ramsdale are brilliant shot stoppers. But they are also not "one of the worst in the league", especially Ramsdale. He is quite average at shot stopping (while Ederson is really below average). Therefore, i see your point but don't agree that aside from his distribution he is a championship goalkeeper. Regarding this he is an average premier league keeper, but with his distribution, sweeping and commanding he is a very good gk overall.

Ramsdale's commanding of his area is below average. He flaps at crosses when put under pressure - Martinez's headed goal in Jan is one example that springs to mind. I agree his sweeping is very good though.

He's in the same company as Seaman both been beaten from 40 yrds . Well done Englands no one.

There will be plenty overrating that save. He didn’t have to do much. Konate completely messed it up

if our #1 had put in the same performance, most of his thread would be critical. not a single pass found its mark. didn't deal with a single cross though they were being bombarded. no sweeping.
"headline saves" "camera-friendly" "if he dealt with crosses he wouldn't need to save from konate."

a slightly below-average performance, right up till the end where he saved 2 certain goals - 8/10 overall.

The save from Salah was pretty decent, the other one would have been a howler if it had gone in. They were the type of saves that are glorified beyond belief when De Gea makes them.

He's never really looked good for England but should probably get another chance at some point

He really should have saved that shot from KdB.

He is sometimes very slow going down, he had very weak reactions on 2 goals today.
