"Former England winger Aaron Lennon has retired at the age of 35."

A true legend.

Imagine all the people

Something something peace

The only played I’ve seen skin Evra. On his day he was unplayable. Pity he wasn’t consistent.

Talent wise he wasn't able to squeeze out every last bit. Wonder if that has left a bitter taste?

Think he battled with depression for much of his career, was a great winger when in form and can be proud of his career.

I’ve no doubt there were some rogue threads in the caf wanting us to sign him.

Thought he was quite good for Spurs. Terrorised Evra like no one else could

Could put in some sharp crosses,

Was able to squeeze out over 20 England caps.

Was a juicy prospect at one point before losing a bit of his zest for the game.

Etc

I’m amazed he’s only 35; he seems to have been around for ever.

I think he suffered along with others from being overhyped by the red tops as the Next Big Thing in English wingers.

In his mind he retired on this day.

He was one of those slightly above average footballers that was just fast and had a bit of end product. You know that if he got running at you it was going to be difficult, especially at Spurs.

That team with Lennon, Berbatov, Keane, VDV and Modric was magic compared to the current one.

Pith off with the crap puns.

Dude been getting money for a long time. PL player from 16.

I actually liked spurs around this time, 2012 ish. Maybe it helped that we were still good, but they were easy to appreciate. Redknapp in charge, Van Der Vaart, Adebayor, Lennon, Bale, Modric, Scott Parker, Defoe, Gallas. They were a good side.

There were rumours of a swap for Ronaldo I believe.

Battled with depression so hopefully he's feeling better these days. May he enjoy his retirement.

He’s another one of those young Leeds players from that era with Milner, Alan Smith, Kewell etc. A fairly good era for them it has to be said. Who is the last really good footballer they have produced? Am I wrong or was it Phillips?

Can’t believe he’s only 35. Him and Milner were two great talents from that chaotically run Leeds team that they had to give away for a combined £6m due to their Ridsdale problems.

And of course I remember him being the Evra kryptonite. I think his last goal was against us at OT for Burnley this year was it not?

Most goals he ever scored in a season was 5. Pretty low actually

Always liked him. Was a pretty decent player in his early years.

He debuted about 16 years. That’s why it feels like he’s been around forever. 2 decades at top level is supreme longevity

Players with speed, often run out of juice quickly. It's heart crushing.

Anyway. Winger with the fastest acceleration I've seen in the last 100 years.

Don't come at me but has the premier league seen a faster winger based on pure pace, at his peak ?

Valencia was insanely fast before that ankle break, I'm sure he must have been the quickest in the league for a fair while.

Truly magical, considering Berbatov left two years before VDV joined.
