A post from Softy - Not to be deleted

No but we did put in an offer, odd that we can do that on a player who has a 'pre-cotract' agreement to join Man Utd... ;)

He still remains one of GHs targets.

Interesting slant on the point in question tho... well done.

Softy, here's a simple question.
Why are you on a Manchester United board in the first place?

I dont think Gh knows what squad rotation means.

I think he thinks it means, buy loads of players then sell them next season.

;)

The only part of our squad that stays constant through a season is our defence and keeper (injuries permitting). What's your point mate? ;)

Didn't want to buy him...

2 times... 1 time more than Diouf who's played 1 less game...

10mil was as high as you wanted to go... on top of that you couldn't afford his wages.

that 20mil will help finance your new stadium. ;)

kitty my arse.

It's a shame us clubs in England miss out on so many cheap foreign players! Barca got Riquelme for 7 Million!!

As for GH, He may not know what Squad rotation but he definately has extensive use of Eye Rotation

Your info is way off the mark mate.

1. Anelka slashed his wage demands so we'd sign him.
2. The fee had been agreed with PSG.
3. Liverpool pulled out of the deal because of Anelka's late nights out and nothing to do with his ability or the cost.
4. GH bought more of a team player in Diouf.
5. There is still £20m+ in the kitty for GH to spend. In fact £18m was sanctioned by the board for Duff.

What this has to do with your lack of strength in depth or the fact that most LFC fans can see major similarities between us in the early 90s and you lot now...

Softlad.....

Speaking as a Liverpool fan, what do you think about Owen, as of recent, in comparison the to Owen of, perhaps two seasons ago?

I get the feeling that he isn't as confident as he used to be. Speaking as a coach myself, I notice that Owen doesn't seem to accelerate past players in the same manner that he used to do and that he's lost that magic! Maybe he might rediscover it, but injuries have played it's part in stunting his development as a player.

He's a better player in terms of his all round ability. I agree that since the recurrence of his hamstring problems he's not 'opened up' and roasted players the way he used to. This was very evident late last season and to a lesser extent this.

I think with all great goalscorers confidence comes from the first goal. However, when you consider Owen missed a pen v Villa, for him to step up and take another against the barcodes was sign enough that he doesn't lack confidence.

I think he's still tired from the World Cup and given a few weeks will satrt hitting the back of the net again. He strikes me as being the sort of player that if one thing restricts his game, like an injury, then he will work on other aspects of his game in order to compensate.

I have no doubt that he'll get the goals, his form is not worrying me as others are scoring but once the floodgates open... IMO he would be immensely difficult to replace as he is unique in English club football.

2 points....

If it is right that you have this huge kitty for new players and are so awash with cash why is Prick Parry saying the wage bill needs slashing and the squad reducing.

If you are right and MU have not got or had the squad to match Liverpools and Arsenals surely that means their achievements in winning the PL for more years than I care to remember is even more admirable.

That's exactly it, the wage bill and the squad needs reducing, nothing there about us not having money, just means that we have a bit of dead wood at the club, players who are very much squad players and won't be first team players, ie Berger, Diomede, Heggem... we don't HAVE to sell however if we have this deadwood then it's better to get rid than hold on to it. As I've said there's over £20m in the kitty for our January spending.

Not at all it says more about the quality of the teams of the challengers and the fact that Man Utd had the only truly consistent team throughout that period, helped in a large part by the lads that all came through at once and had played together for years.[/Q]

What is there to explain. We've won the league 7 years out of 10. Nuff said. Clueless muppet.

Difference being is that you see it as a divine right...expecting that I'll be the one who you'll be laughing at in May and not condsidering for one minute that everyone else will be laughing at you.

That comment sums up what most other fans see as the typical behaviour of a Manc fan.

The difference is that most people can give credit where it is due....you really don't seem to be able to do that.

MU expect to win things because it is usually the case - I, along with you, hope that MU fans will not resume their usual habit at laughing at the also-rans.

Winning the league 7 years out of 19 doesn't prove we had a strong squad??? I spose we were luck with injuries were we?

Why 19??

No it shows you have the nucleaus of a good team but doesn't prove 'strength in depth'...

Whoops - I'm on the phone as I type. I meant of course 10.

I wont be laughing at anyone (cept the Scousers - but thats more of a hobby :D ). I'm a footy fan. Playing watching whatever.

I regularly visit other grounds in the North West and was at Villa Park to see England on Saturday (for my sins).

I expect Man Utd to beat the majority of teams because we work harder and have more quality. I dont then laugh at the teams we've beaten.

There's nothing wrong with wanting (and even getting used) to winning.

So with a record of success far higher than anyone elses presumably you admit that MU have been the best team over the last 10 years - right?

A feck of a nucleas then eh? Don't be daft, of course we had strength in depth. You don't win leagues without it.

Having agreed that MU have been the best side over the last 10 years I too find it strange that Softy feels that this is not partly due to you having a strong squad.
