Some great stats, there. All in all it seems like basically we still have the same issues as last season (can't score goals) but also now our defense is awful through a combination of Casemiro being crap, Onana being awful, and having a makeshift back four constantly. Not great.
Which is a reason the recruitment was bad. Waxed lyrical during pre season before Hojlund was signed that United will have exactly the same issues as last season. I think the teams defensive record throughout the previous season papered over the cracks because with the exception of City / Liverpool the team wasn't conceding much goals over consecutive games.
The injuries to the defense is what's pushed this team back as well as the lack of balance in the midfield. If United had signed predominantly attacking players during the summer (3 at a minimum) I reckon this team would likely be near the top of the league.
Does make you wonder that if even fans were able to clearly highlight the deficiencies last season how those paid and employed by the club missed it is ridiculous. The idea that Hojlund fixes it is like saying ULEZ gets rid of pollution. The attack being so ineffective isn't an individual issue it's a collective one. Summer 24 the only priority signings the club ought to make is a left winger, right winger and another striker.
