Get a 10 to rotate with Rooney. Sell Mata. Sign a CF. Sign two wingers.
True.Ibra and Rooney in the same side is a no go IMO.
I'd probably prefer Griezmann and one of Dembele or Sane. It would mean that either Martial or Rashford would play upfront and Griezmann would play wide to accommodate Rooney. Rooney, Griezmann and Martial would be first choice. It's not ideal, but I guess it's the compromise we have to make if Rooney stays. Martial would change positions, when either Rashford or one of Dembele or Sane plays in this scenario. I hope we give Memphis another shot at striker, because curerntly I can't see him out wide.
I personally wouldn't be against that if we could get Griezmann, but I get the feeling we will add a more experienced #9 to the line-up as opposed to having so many youngsters making up our attack.
Because of Mourinho? Wouldn't surprise me either, but there aren't a lot of players out there and actually available. I wouldn't want Cavani or Higuain for example. Besides Rooney and Griezmann paired with with Martial and another young player doesn't sound too bad to me.
Even without Mourinho I'd be surprised if we didn't look to get a #9 with more experience than Martial and Rashford. I'm not a fan of Higuain or Cavani either and I think Ibra would be a mistake if Rooney is to remain, having two old players as the central attackers wouldn't suit the pace driven PL in my view.
So who else then?
That's the problem, other than Lacazette I can't really think of anyone except Morata who I rate but I know others don't. My guess is though that it will be Ibra or Cavani despite my reservations.
It depends on our new manager. If
I hope we spend money on Griezmann. Rooney, Martial and Rashford can play in the striker position.
There are other players like Aubameyang or Kane, but they are unrealistic at the moment. I think Mourinho could go for a target striker like Cavani, Lukaku or Ibra. The question is, what kind of striker would suit us better with Rooney in our team.

I rate both of them as well, with Batshuayi they are probably the best options, if we are looking for cheaper signings. Cheap is relative though.
If a new manager comes in (namely Mourinho) at the end of the season he will not set up the way we have been set up over the last two seasons. Basically where every forward player has to feed off scraps the entire time because the DM's never bring the ball out to support the attack. Speculating from my point of view Mourinho's first move would be to move him to #10 and play him the way he had Lampard playing in 04-06. I think that is probably the perfect scenario for Rooney himself. It will allow him to not occupy a set position and run the free role to drop deep while still getting into the box on the end of chances to finish. Something that has barely happened this season in any setup at any point where we looked comfortable.
If Van Gaal stays we mays well get rid of Rooney because he doesn't suit the way Van Gaal wants his #9 to operate.
Ibra. Griezmann. Dembele. Plus one more winger who can be a bit cheaper if possible.
Chris Waddle? Sorry, I don't follow..?That's where the whole idea falls down!.....Try waddle.
