70s Fantasy Draft SF1 - Cold_Boy v Cling Bak

Who will win based on players in their prime, team tactics, balance & bench strength?

  • Total voters
    30
  • Poll closed .
Only five vote gap, come on!

I was saying the reason you're winning in spite of the fact he arguably has better individuals shows that balance matters, I was replying to TR not referring to the change in votes!

He's got some top class individuals, but actually he's probably got more weaker links and the tinkering with the line-up was a bit bizarre.

The important point for consideration is that what will be the next ff game?

I don't think any of those numbers are correct...

He is converting to actual game numbers. There are 7 hours of voting left, so about 13mins.

18-12 is the wrong one. That's actually 3-2, not two goals down.

Not over by a long shot.

Not that I think anyone calcs this, it just makes it more fun. Can 6 more people vote for ColdBoy over the next 7 hours? Sure, there are hundreds on the caf any time of the day.

Well. The poll is open for 48 hours. That's about 7 hours left. That's a little over 1/8 of the poll. 1/8 of a football match is 11,25 minutes. I just said 10 because I did the math in my head and rounded it up.

2 goals is based on the 30 votes and you have a 6 vote lead. Think there have only been 4 or 5 threads that have gotten 30 votes or more. And given that this one has been open for a longer time than the others and has 30 as of now and there is no United game today I'm guessing it won't get much higher. Him getting 7 votes and you none is highly unlikely.

I see. I wasn't thinking into it that deeply. I took minutes literally (not in the game) and I took "goals" to mean votes. If they were, these are some high scoring matches!

I think Cling Bak comes out well enough in a man-for-man comparison. If I was picking an XI from the two teams, it would be: Van Der Sar, Kelly/Lauren, Abidal, Cannavaro, Stam, Keane, Vieira, Mendieta, Riquelme, Henry, Ronaldo

I think you should have gone for something like this Cold Boy

With the option of Shevchenko, Wiltord and Litmanen to come on in the front positions

I think ColdBoy made a mistake in picking Ronaldo, he didnt really need him since he had Sheva already

In fairness, Dan offered no solution to his imbalance between the left and right side of midfield.

The question was whether to get him or Cafú and he opted for the more aggressive option upfront despite service being suspect. Probably got too giddy and  over Ronaldo and Shevchenko, only to drop the latter very quickly...

There was also the expectation of potentially picking Giggs here, and that midfield with Ronaldo and Shevchenko upfront would have been a great proposition for the final.

Should have probably picked Cafú once Giggs was out of the game. Cafú + Beckham would have been one remarkable right side. Beckham further up wouldn't have looked so stranded.

Litmanen?

Ballack?

Probably.

4-4-2 was a huge tactical blunder.

After I changed my tactics it has been 6-6.:annoyed:

I hope its under 21.

As a competition it would have to be born in the 80s, but many haven't even peaked. Could be Champions League or EPL players but too much overlap.

From an "educational" standpoint it would be something like all-time World Cup players up to 1970, or some other cut-off that doesn't make people systematically vote for Lampard ahead of Gerson.

Participants would choose a country (or random.org assigns them) and then need to pull together an all-time XI. Not sure many would vote, mind.

World Cup legends draft would be good. Players based on their WC pedigree.

Milla > Van Basten.

Would be hard to police that kind of thinking though, as a team with Van Basten in it, for example, will always look good.

We're shutting up shop...

Substitutions:
OFF - J.Riquelme, M.Overmars, S.McManaman
ON - Edmilson, Ze Roberto, F.Morientes

Definitely a good idea. Other than that would be interested in doing a '50s one. Think an under-21 or equivalent was done relatively recently.

Roughly a year ago though, I think a new one could be interesting to do again honestly - lot has happened in one year.

But the World Cup draft sounds better for the time being though and very interesting.

Would also mean Kleberson > Gerrard.

Nah that would be too tough IMO.

An 80s draft would be good. Everyone would be familiar with the players and we'd get more voting interest than an WC draft. I think people voting would find it hard to stick to the criteria. If you have Messi in your team, despite the fact he's never set the WC alight, he's going to get you more votes than a Klose or a Forlan.

Exactly, Klose is a monster and all English players of the golden generation are rubbish.

Skhuravy is a better striker than Torres and Villa.

Nah, you can stress it is WC form but it won't always work that way. Not that it matters, The Religion will have you know voters are insane anyway.

Showing off again... Your fullbacks REALLY let you down in this formation though.
