We have Everton A, Norwich H, Liverpool A, Arsenal A, Brentford H, Brighton A, Chelsea H, Palace A

Arsenal have Brighton H, Southampton A, Chelsea A, Man Utd H, West Ham A, Spurs A, Newcastle A, Everton H
3 points ahead and a game in hand

Spurs have Villa A, Brighton H, Brentford A, Leicester H, Liverpool A, Arsenal H, Burnley H, Norwich A
3 points ahead of us

Chelsea have Southampton A, Arsenal H, Everton A, Wolves H, Leeds A, Man Utd A, Leicester H, Watford H
8 points ahead of us plus a game in hand

It's all to play for (well it's not but let's pretend it is). 8 wins and I think we might just make 4th. Any less than that and it's pretty much no chance.

Everton, Norwich, Brentford, Brighton are all teams we have to comfortably beat.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Palace will all be tough games, but if we play like we did under Ole we might just have a chance with clever counter play. Defence have to play out of their skins. Matic must play with Fred. Shawberto needs to find form. Rashford needs to remember he is a footballer or Elanga needs to take his opportunities in a major way.

For this to happen we would have beaten Arsenal and Chelsea, but that would still leave Arsenal needing to lose another game. Chelsea would need to lose 3 more. I can't see this being likely.

Spurs could easily lose 1 and draw at least a couple so reasonable chance here.

It's a serious challenge, but there are no other distractions. These players need kicking into gear and fined heavily if they don't do theit bit.

We need 8 wins??? Hahahahaha.

We will be lucky to get 4.

3 wins 3 losses and 2 draws seems about right from our remaining games.

Spurs will get 4th. We will be 6th or 7th.

I can easily see us winning only 2 out of those 8 games.
Forget, Spurs and the Arse. We are not catching them now.
West Ham are a Jeckyll & Hyde team, but will stay above us if they win half their games.
Wolves sneaking up behind, but with some hard games ( for them) and they don’t score enough goals.

Odds on we’re ending up in 7th or 8th place, unless we miraculously snap into gear and win 4 or 5 out of 8.

4th was doable. But, if you've been watching our games, more often than not, it feels like some players can't be bothered.

I don't think 8 wins would be necessary to get 4th. 6 wins and 2 defeats might still clinch it...

...i really really find it hard to imagine our players could do that though. But there's always blind hope.

We remorselessly destroyed any remote hope of a top four finish with the insipid draw last weekend to Leicester City. Mathematically, it's possible to land fourth, but too many improbable things have to happen for that to happen.

You lost me at “if we play like we did under Ole“

The team has no momentum, plays poorly often every game, questionable tactical decisions and zero effort from key players.

The only hope is the likes of Ronaldo hitting his elite form for a few fixtures.

Agreed. If Arsenal and Spurs could be relied on to win every game, they'd be challenging for the title, not 4th.

I doubt we'll get 4th and kinda hope we don't as it'll force the board to spend and give the new manager more freedom in changing the team. Plus the players might end up having to take pay cuts if it's worked into their contracts which would be fun.

I'm not sure if I'll even watch the Liverpool game. It will be like watching a loved one being tied up and then beaten by a professional boxer as part of some kind of medical experiment into trauma.

With Arsenal losing last night it makes that draw at Leicster look even worse. We went down without a fight and if that's a sign of things to come my only hope is we miss out on the Europe conference as well.

Hard to see wins over Chelsea/Arsenal or scousers and Palace will outwork us too

I would not be at all surprised if we finish 8th.
After watching the Hammers against Liverpool a few weeks ago it seems to me they are a better side than us and Wolves probably are as well.
Big job ahead for the new manager.

Yeah so flakey when the going gets tough, every chance we finish in Conference League maybe miss out altogether

Liverpool and Arsenal are away games, so that probably kills the hope a bit for me.

I'd say it'll be 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 L's.

We need to take chances in the big games as we can't use draws for much

United players have already checked out, any team United play in the remaining 8 games with something to play for should be able to collect an easy 3 points or at the very least a draw. TBH i wouldn't trust United to even beat Norwich.

3 points off 4th with 8 games to go would normally give you some hope, but it's unprecedented how this set of players just refuses any effort, they completely checked out and continue to blame everyone around them but themselves.

If we can win against Liverpool to prevent them winning the title, lose the rest and finish 8th, I would take it. That's how optimistic I am about getting top 4. I don't think playing in EL or ECL next season is beneficial with a World Cup mid season.

We haven't won 3 matches in a row all season so looking very very unlikely. 538 have us at 5% chance of pulling it off so 1 in 20 of striking lucky.

The real question is, how many players in the squad want to finish 4th and how badly.

We aren't getting 4th. Our performances have simply been too poor to suddenly string a run of results together.

If we can win against Liverpool to prevent them winning the title, lose the rest and finish 8th, I would take it.
You know this isn't going to happen. Like last season where we could have ruined Liverpool's top 4 hopes, we will Everton it up again and give them a crucial 3 points to aid them in their title challenge.

4th was doable. But, if you've been watching our games, more often than not, it feels like some players can't be bothered.

Agreed, winning 8 games is entirely unrealistic, but when you spell it out its basically the equivalent of a tournament mentality and we have to go out and win every game.

Players need a kick.

You lost me at “if we play like we did under Ole“

The only time Ole did well was against progressive attacking teams that opened up the space for us.

Oles counter attacking football was very effective, albeit entirely predictable and obvious and any team that maintained any form of compactness made it impossible for us.

Do any of you really give a shit anymore about our remaining games? I’ve checked out. This team is full of feckwits who cannot be counted on

I just happened to be looking at fixtures so having gone to the effort of doing so I figured I'd share.

If anything this thread will only highlight how pathetic our team are when the team inevitably fail to do anything meaningful.

Really respect the fans who have any energy left.. watching these useless players on a weekly basis is soul destroying

We don’t need 8 wins, if we lose against Liverpool, draw Chelsea, the rest are winnable we could still maybe get 4th.

Football is a funny game and Spurs and Arsenal could easily lose games they’re not expecting to, it’s out of our hands but 8 games is a long time in football.

If we failed to score against Watford, when every team scored for fun, and failed to beat Burnley, plus Villa, and so on. You expect us to win more than 4 out of 8 games?

I struggle to see which game we win next. I actually don't think we will win more than 2/8 remaining games.

We struggled against Burnley, Watford and even Leicester who looked terrible.

I can see us getting another 1/2 embarrassing defeats this season.

I'll take 7 losses and a win against Liverpool.

Arsenal have games in hand, an easier run in and more points. And even if they did throw all that away, I’ve no faith at all that we’ll be there to take advantage. We’ve been wank for ages.

My prediction:

Everton A - draw
Norwich H - win
Liverpool A - loss
Arsenal A - loss
Brentford H - win
Brighton A - draw
Chelsea H - loss
Palace A - draw

2W, 3D, 3L - 9 points

Probably come down to the Conte effect as to whether Spurs are still bottle jobs or not, the way things stands with Conte I’d favour Spurs.
