6 realistic signings to improve us?

He's an absolute liability defensively, no matter how many goals he spawns out his arse. Not even Chelsea fans rate him.
Yep, he’s basically struggling to play in a back 4. And the poster said similar pace to Shaw? That’s surprising to me. Thought Shaw would be comfortably the faster of the 2. Also I’ve not seen enough of Emerson in the PL if I’m honest.

If you could make 3 realistic signings to improve our squad next summer who would you go for?

de Gea

Wan-Bissaka Maguire Lindelof Chilwell

McTominay Neves Pogba

Sancho Martial Rashford

Chilwell, Neves and Sancho are all gettable players for United, follow the new strategy we seem to be using and would be improvements on Shaw, Matic/Fred/Pereira & Lingard imo.

Yours?

Unfortunately if we want to be realistic then we have to first think of a replacement for Pogba. That fat bastard agent of his won't let him stay and he won't let up until he gets a new fat commission check and the only way he gets that is with a transfer.

de Gea
AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Chilwell
McTominay - Saul Niguez - Pogba
Sancho - Martial - Rashford

If not Chilwell maybe Juan Miranda? They've just signed Firpo and Alba still has some years left in him.

I'd like to see what our younger players like Greenwood and McTominay can do before we go into galactico mode.

Shaw put in by his standards a mediocre performance. Let's give him a few games before we decide Chilwell is the answer.

Greenwood looks a fantastic prospect and may have the tools to serve us brilliantly from the right. We'll see about that, but I'd like to give him a chance -- I think he'll be 18 in October so his career is far from over -- before we bring in a player like Sancho and shut the door on Greenwood's development.

McTominay may in the end be more squad man than nailed on starter in midfield and I am huge fan of Neves, but even then McTominay put in a monster performance against PSG and has put in a few other decent shits. He's only 22. Let's give him a proper chance.

The immediate priority is to give this squad a chance to come together and see whether the Chelsea result was a first sign of great things to come or if it's a one-off that suggests the need for another overhaul.

Replacing Matic needs long term considerations before we make a decision. Pogba’s future? Will we continue with a 2-man midfield or is our long term intentions to use a 433 formation.

If we continue to buy British then I see two outstanding candidates and one wild card.

Declan Rice is probably the best defensive option to play in both a 2 or 3-man midfield. Solid, strong and with a very good temperament. Excellent when shielding the defense and his passing is underrated.

Hamza Choudhury is in my opinion the best British young deep lying playmaker in the PL. His first touch, ball control and his vision is excellent. He has that warrior attitude that sets him apart. Good acceleration and speed and he can easily patrol the defense by himself in a 3 man midfield.

Sean Longstaff is the wild card. Maybe we will know better his ability after a couple of month.

All these players will cost a fortune. Probably somewhere between £40-70m in today’s market.

The obvious candidate as a winger is Jadon Sancho. Let’s see how he do in his second season before making a final decision. If he continue his productivity then it’s a no brainer. If we can’t get this guy how about Dani Olmo. I saw him in U-23 EC and he was excellent on the right side.

My third choice should be a attacking midfielder. Maybe James Maddison, another good candidate is Ceballos but that train seems to have left the station. I also like SMS from Lazio. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has everything you need from a complete midfielder. All these three will also cost a fortune.

Choudhury has impressed me in the 5-6 games I've seen him (aside from the moment of madness for England U21s), particularly when Leicester beat Arsenal last season. Is he a deep lying playmaker though? I'd got the impression he was more of a combative destroyer in the mould of Gattuso, Mascherano, Nigel De Jong etc...

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is one of the most hard-working box to box CM that would massively improve us.

Kai Havertz has been mentioned a lot so I won't talk about him. Instead, I'll look to Donny van de Beek, whom I felt is one of the unsung heroes who's star is over-shone by both FDJ and MDL. Again, he's a hard-working CM who can connect between defence and attack, something we sorely lack right now.

Assuming Jordan Sancho is unattainable, Fredrico Chiesa looks good for Fiorentina whenever I see him play. He can play on both wings, can bring the ball forward at speed (which fits what Ole is looking for) and has good technique to boot. Many of you will love his first touch.

Good options but SMS will struggle in the Ole system especially if we hold onto Pogba. Van de Beek would be a good player. He would be one of those Park Ji Sung signings who works his socks off and wins you crucial matches but does not throw a fit if left on the bench. As for Chiesa, quality player as well but I think Chiesa will remain in Italy and will join Juventus. It's a very slim chance of him coming to PL. Sancho is also be very difficult as there may be many takers but I would take him here as he would be the future RW for years to come. I can't wait for Lingard to be benched. However, I think Dan James will change everyone's perspective this season and we will not go for Sancho.

de Gea
AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
Fabian Ruiz - Saul Niguez - Pogba
Sancho - Martial - Rashford

Or:

AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
McTominay - Pierre E. Hojbjerg
Suso

A. Milik

I agree, we shouldn't throw youth down the toilet.

Luka Jovic

Who seems available, and it looks like Perez signed him rather than Zidane wanting him, big powerful striker to lead the line.

Donny Van den Beek

All action midfielder, seems a good model professional who would fit in with what Ole is trying to instill at the club, would add alot of quality and energy to our midfield.

Jadon Sancho

The big name summer signing, needs no explanation

Eriksen - Free next summer
Werner - Free next summer
Matuidi - Free next summer
Kurzawa - Free next summer. Have some reservations about, but is a better attacker than Shaw.

Out: (45-50m)
Darmian (5m)
Rojo (10m)
Bailly (15m)
TFM (5m)
Matic (10m)
Sanchez (free)
Mata (free)
Young (free)

In: (150-175m)
Rice (65m)
Eriksen (free)
Sancho (100m)

DDG; AWB, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Rice; Pogba, Eriksen; Sancho, Martial, Rashford

Henderson; Laird, Tuanzebe, Jones, Dalot; McTominay, Fred; James, Gomes, Lingard; Greenwood

+ Smalling, Pereira, Romero for 25 man squad.

Garner, Joel Pereira, Chong out on loan.

Ndidi
Sancho
Havertz (if Pogba is sold)

It doesn't hurt to have a destroyer like Ndidi as a squad option. Ideally you want a DM like Garner who has a great pass on him and is a bit elegant on the ball. However, he's young and not a sure thing at the moment. I would like TFM to get tried for that role as it would save us money if he could fulfill that role as any other role seems beyond him for our level.

Sander Berge - Deep-Lying playmaker and a defensive rock, I think he has what it takes to control the tempo of the game.
Van Den Beek
Sancho

Players with one year (or less) of their contract or players with releause clause, yes. If not, their really is few examples of them letting players go easy.

What highly rated players have they sold if you exclude players on outgoing contracts or with releause clause? Auba and O. Dembele? Both had to cause quite a fuss.

Give it up, mate, they’ve sold literally every player someone wanted to buy.

And what’s Germany got to do with it? It’s piss easy to sign players from Germany. Especially non-Germans.

Why should I give up anything? I stated a fact. Its accurate. That it does not suit you does not make it wrong.

Yes, they will probably sell Sancho at one point. But probably not until he has one year left of his contract (2021). Unless he does what Dembele did and refuse to show up at training. And even then it will take an absurd fee.

Regarding the last paragraph it just does not make sense as an answer to me.

Eriksen and Werner could come for free next summer. Also, we should sign a DM and Sancho. It's important to sell/release some players too.

Jadon is probably unrealistic at this point. He would want to go to a top club which we are not. Therefore Id go for Ndidi, Fraser and Brooks.

We could sell Fred to China for close to the £50m we paid for him. He's a Brazilian international, they love them over there and always pay way over the odds. Lingard would probably be about £30-35m to another PL team.
No. China has a 100% tax on transfer-fees for players valued over 3 million dollars. They could pay the wages but not the transfer-fee.

Didn't they pay 60 odd million for Oscar in a pre-Neymar-PSG transfer climate?

Also, Oscar, still only 27

Mental that he should just be entering his prime now, yet feels like he peaked about 5 years ago. I guess he's getting paid well at least.

If we got CL and told Eriksen and Sancho we're signing the other, plus another player, it might not be so unrealistic. I'd start thinking about it.

We said improve us not make us worse!

Sancho, Havertz, Rice

Where is this 100 million sancho price coming from. Surely in this market he would cost much more than that.

I'm confused at the 100 million figure too. BVB sold Dembele 2 years ago for that amount WITHOUT add-ons (~140m with). Given that he will probably be one of the most coveted attackers in any window I think there is a lot of delusion about how obtainable he is.

Rice, Maddison and Sancho.

I'd want a new left back in truth but would give it another 12 months or so with Shaw to see if working in the current back 4 improves him.
