50 Greatest TV shows

feck you, Buffy was epic.

Agreed. It may not be everybody's taste but it was pretty darn successful. Even to this day (7 years after it ended), they still hold extremely successful fan conventions that pretty much sell out all the time.

I've even got my mum interested in it and she normally doesn't like shows like that.

Heroes at 15, exactly 15 places over Dexter was another joke.

Oh and did I mention Buffy at 2?

Scrubs and Angel over The Shield.

What the hell?!

Angel was an excellent show, especially from the fourth season onwards. Still can't believe it ended how it did, that was probably the ultimate cliffhanger. Buffy should in no way be second though, Firefly was by far Whedon's best work.

Poor decision to omit Carnivàle, one of the greatest shows of all-time.

Yep, Angel was excellent too, but I still prefered Buffy.

Angel did end way too soon though, it still had another good season or two left in it.

That is exactly what I meant. It should be maybe in the top 3 to top 5 list.

Oh right, well yes it should. I know people have their own personal preferences on which shows they like. My personal favourites are:

Buffy, Angel, Friends, NCIS, Prison Break and Fresh Prince. I also watched Nip Tuck for a while, but it just started getting ridiculous.

I think this is the best list till now.
Based on critic reviews and ratings etc over the years

Simpsons is #1 so can't disagree with the list too much.

Not my lists any of these actually. Found the last 2 ones somewhere or the other.

Agree with the last list though, except American Idol at #10

One of the worst lists I've ever seen in my life - Not just for TV Shows - But of any list of any sort. It's so bad it's made me a bit angry.

I just saw the first 10 and not finding Seinfeld in there (at nº 1 IMO, but I could concede if it was in any place in the top 5) is enough to say it's pure bollocks.

EDIT: Oh the irony, it's in 11th.

Make Love, Not Warcraft is surely one of the best episodes ever of Southpark!

Why has no one mentioned Frasier? Absolute genius...

24, The Office, The Simpsons, Curb, South Park

Should make up the top 5.

Knight Rider should be number 6.

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, but one of the top 5 TV shows ever? Not a chance. The Simpsons at #1 might have met with unanimous agreement had it not outstayed it's welcome and sullied it's memory by 12 or so seasons of being shit to the point of becoming utterly unwatchable.

Where the feck was the Larry Sanders Show, without which there would never have been The Office?

What do people see in Scrubs, by the way? fecking Family Guy - a show that just makes constant references to other shows and films - at #12?! Friends ahead of Python, Seinfeld, Fraiser? Heroes - one decent season followed by hours of utterly confused, poorly plotted rubbish - in the top 20?

Where are Steptoe and Son, Brass Eye, I'm Alan Partridge, etc?

There are two shows that are 1a and 1b The Sopranos and The Wire, after that nothing really matters

That's just dumb. There are other shows worth watching too.

Something tells me the people who formed this list like sci fi.
