Hopefully getting a fairly tidy bonus again this year, and was thinking about upgrading to 3D.

The missus will kill me because i got a 46" less than a year ago, but we have the baby coming soon, and I will pretty much never be allowed to buy anything ever again.

Will the technology be outdated really quickly, shall I wait, shall I just go for it?

Only just brought a new tv in January think I'll put off buying a new tv for the next year or so.

I would wait atleast a year untill moving onto 3D TV's, I imagine the first batch will hold quite a few flaws that will be dealt with over time.

I thought it was just a few new channels on the HD service, no need to be buying a new telly.

Im never an early adopter - i just made do with the out dated technology until the stuff comes down massively in price.

Seems a bit of a waste when there will only be 1 channel at first anyway.

there will be the 3d blu rays coming out too, and the ps3 firmware will be upgraded to play 3d

I'm not sold on this yet, have a feeling it's gonna flop like whale shit tbh.

im not convinced whatsoever. Until HD tv becomes fully mainstream, and by that i mean standard channels broadcasting HD, i wont look at getting a 3D tv.

I've never been a massive fan of 3D, just seems like a novelty to me.

Personally I'm not going to want to wear glasses so I can watch TV.

Wait until the porn industry gets a hold of this one, though. It'll be Strange Days all over again.

No

1) It's first gen. Not to generalize too much, but early adopters will be the ones finding all the problems first-hand rather than hearing about them just like the rest of us.
2) The glasses. You'll need one for yourself and then some for the rest of your family and then maybe some extra for when friends come over because you can't always ask them to bring their own glasses.

I don't think 3DTV will be a huge revolution in television. Pretty soon they'll just be normal televisions with the capability of watching a 3D feed so you can watch a few movies in 3D. That is unless they can figure out how to do it without the glasses, but that usually leads to a whole new set of problems to solve.

I already have glasses!

they won't work with a 3d tv mate. Sony, samsung etc are all producing there own specific glasses for there tv's, we won't be able to mix and match between brands.

I've been told that the tv's will come with two sets of 3d glasses and additional sets will cost £100 each.

I think that he's talking about spectacles.

It really becomes a pain for those that need to wear real optical glasses to have to stick another pair over the top. Not only do you look like a cnut, it quickly becomes very uncomfortable.

So of you want to invite a few mates round to watch the match or a film or whatever you're going to need £100 worth of stupid looking glasses per person?! Haha yea that's really going to take off!!

Sounds to me like a gimmick and nothing more. Never see it really catching on.
