35 Years….

Few rose tinted glasses in this thread. Remember Rock of Gibraltar, the changing room assault on Beckham, banning the BBC, the insults toward Real Madrid, stopping Lee Sharpe's party, artificially inflating the length of matches, calling Clattenburg a cnut, forcing Ronaldo to stay another year against his will, and collecting wine during a recession. As much as he won a couple of trophies, he also dragged the club through years of shame.
Quite possibly the worst post I've seen for quite a while on here.

The word Legend is often overused these days and in reality only a few deserve the title, but Fergie owns it, lock stock and barrel.

I grew up with Tommy Docherty, Big Ron...and had to endure the 70s and 80 constant digging from my school mates as Liverpool dominated everything. Even had the occasional digs from Nottingham Forest fans as we watched Clough win 2 European cups.

But when Fergie took over it all changed. I've had the best 20 years of football any supporter could have. Even when my Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City supporting mates all have a dig now I simply respond ...its fine. I was lucky to see Utd win the lot consistently for 20 years and I can dine off that till the day I die.

Some supporters support their clubs their entire life and never see them win a thing. So I can't complain. I've been blessed.

The media machine is a well oiled one... let's all remember the good times and forget we've just been dismantled and humiliated at home by rivals. I've left out "nearest" rivals because we're nowhere near them. Does anyone want to buy any merchandise with Joel Glazers face on it?

On the 35 years, what a manager. Not sure we'll ever see the likes of him again at this club.

“Won a couple of trophies….he also dragged the club through years of shame”

You sir, are talking out of your arse.

No doubt Fergie is a living legend of this club but needs to step aside with this supporting Ole stuff because it's clearly doing more harm than good. He also made a monumental mistake by getting into that dispute over that bloody horse and meant the door was open to those yankee cowards to buy the club.

I was thinking about this the other day. Fergie set about knocking Liverpool off their perch 35 years ago, a task that would haved seemed impossible at the time. The current regime is doing its best to let him see a lot of that undone.
He was laughed at when he said it and I'm sure nobody in Scotland thought he was serious about destroying the old firm dominance. Football God.

It's funny because I bet half our fanbase only started supporting United thanks to the great man who took us to the top level of football.

My reply to the post was in reference to the “years of shame”…Fergie is a legend and arguably one of the greatest football leaders in history
